I’m glad we stopped in here. We were able to purchase some gifts and contribute to the Jemez community. The museum was amazing, especially the two statues at the entrance; they were absolutely stunning. I wish we would have been able to take pictures inside the museum, but I completely understand why it would be prohibited. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a stop in. And they have a Winter Bazaar going on 12/2-12/3 ☺️

great place for a visit. the staff are very friendly, lots of parking and great views of the Jemez mountains. even the prices are good on food items. my only complaint is that I wish they sold merchandise that was actually made by Native Americans or at least in this country. I was going to buy a mug, until i saw the tag-"made in Thailand". Nope...

I liked it!I'll have to check out the trail some time, but the visitor center was nice. I wish the museum extended past 2008 and the mugs available for sale weren't what I hoped for.Bathroom was very clean, but the stall was out of order.

Lovely visitor center, very clean, with a gift shop and small museum that includes VERY friendly staff and well-done exhibits on Jemez history and values. The trail hike through red rocks is exceptionally nice; it is not paved and some uneven areas wind around with mild elevation changes, but overall it is a trail that can be hiked by people of many ages (a wheelchair or stroller would be difficult on this trail). A trail pass is required and available at the visitor center...the fee is worth it but a little pricey. You'll enjoy stopping here...even the drive to get here is beautiful!

Sadly didn’t have time to visit the museum but the coffee shop was amazing. Truly phenomenal piñon coffee and a beautiful conversation with the barista. Can’t wait to come back.

This is a beautiful place. And you must try the walking path through the red rocks for $6 each. The personel are all smiles and very helpful. I had a separate problem concerning the workshop I was teaching across the road. After speaking to the person at the desk about the difficulty I was having, they went out of their way to help my group!

historic and poignant. This Visitors Center. museum and gift shop is a cultural gem in the middle of the colorful Jemez mountains. The friendly staff shared knowledgeable advice about scenic areas to photograph and where to get the tastiest fry bread.

The museum is hidden in the welcome center but it is excellent to explain the history of the Hemish and the surrounding area. Friendly staff to answer your questions. Both inside and outside you can find gorgeous jewelry, pottery and other art, by the local artisians. I highly recommend crossing the street to the outdoor restaurants! An amazing place to get an Indian Taco!

Sacred spot! Technically not the Visitors Center, the grounds across the street are beautiful. The rocks are beautiful with various shades of red, distinct layers, and interesting formations...Signs ask visitors to refrain from climbing on the rocks which was disappointing but certainly understandable...Still, there's a beautiful energy here that can be felt standing at the base or sitting at the picnic tables.

Magical istorical place! If you have time, make this detour and stop at the welcome center. You won't be sorry. There is a trail that is easy to track and a little bit over a mile long on the other side of the road. The red dirt and the scenery is truly something to behold. The visitor center will provide you with the map. Also, there is a museum that introduces the history of the region at the visitor center. There is a true to scale recreation of the living quarters, gardening habits, clay furnace for cooking outside the museum and the visitor center. And of course gift shop, which features local artists.

Beautiful welcome center, friendly people, displays of local artists and places to visit. They have a lovely gift shop as well, and you can get maps of the area or a permit to chop down your own Christmas tree!
