Beautiful park, right off of I40. Amazing views and well maintained trails. There's also a museum, convention center, two campgrounds and a rodeo area. Trails are sandy and can be hot mid day, bring water!

This is a nice, inexpensive place to stay, with some amazing scenery. It’s our 2nd time and we’ve extended our stay. It’s fairly convenient to the many offerings of Gallup. We finally took the trail to Church Rock a couple of days ago and are doing the Pyramid Trail today. I would give this 5 stars, if not for some confusion and inconsistencies about the campsites themselves. It’s somewhat difficult to tell where each begins and ends and some seem to share picnic tables. Be careful you don’t get blocked in. We’ll plan to stay here again on future trips through the area.

Beautiful park with some great hiking trails. Not ADA friendly trails. If it's dry, you still need to be careful on the trails. There a few steep steps but overall completely worth it. Kids could do it but just keep them away from the edges😁

The people were really nice on the phone. They took my reservation over the phone. I didn’t know it was going to snow last night so I’ve been calling trying to book another night but they’re not picking up and there’s no answering machine but I know they’ll come by if they want money. The other campers are friendly there are full timers here and they’re great for borrowing stuff from lol. I would definitely recommend this. It’s reasonably priced and there’s hiking trails when it’s not snowing. Or I guess if you wanna go snow walking, it would be good.

We stopped for an overnight. Confusion over what site we had complicated our arrival. A few phone calls and we got a good site. Restrooms and showers old and decrepit. Run down. Excellent short but intense hike was nice to unkink after a travel day.

It's always a great place for events. Unfortunately, this year, the Hot Air Balloons were grounded and couldn't take flight. Hopefully, next year.

Went to the Red Rock Balloon Rally. It was fun and seemed to find everything I needed like food, water, restrooms. It was a lot of fun

One of the locals told us about Red Rock park. We hiked up to pyramid point, it's 1.7 miles one way. Very nice. Park is mainly used for rodeos and that sort of thing and you won't find anything about their hiking trails on their website. It is definitely worth a visit.

Sadly this place needs some attention. Low to no maintenance shows - site not maintained, (our picnic table in over 3" of dirt/sand), trash everywhere including tires, and weeds over grown for a few items. The sites are not clearly marked. Many occupied sites have rigs/trailers that have nit and cannot be moved - unclear what they are doing with their sewage since the sites do not have sewer hook ups. Many also using more than 1 electrical outlet. Let me also mention to at least 4 loose dogs in the park. We had to carefully walk away with our dog as the loose dogs were approaching us barking and snarling. No collars and no one outside to call them off. The views are SPECTACULAR!! This park could be a gem. As of now, I'm glad we are here only one night. Due to the roaming dogs we could not sit outside with our dog because they kept running over. I understand that this is NOT a resort, but looking at the Google photos Red Rock CG was previously taken care of. I hope things can be turned around and make this park a clean, maintained park.Playground: NoneDog-friendliness: UGH loose dogs that chased us and our GSD around the park. Very scary! They had no collars and no one was outside to call them. Don't know if they are dumped or owners live in park and don't care.

Excellent! One of the most beautiful places in NM to visit. Be sure to check out the hot air balloon events they have as well. Freedom ride, flight cruise. July 29th. These photos are from that event.

Amazing park. When we were their a rodeo/ horse event was taking place. We watched but were not part of it. The hike was fun but the sand made it a little bit harder. We saw many Gunnison’s Prairie Dogs and the burrows they called home. Some Kingbirds, Sparrows were also in the area also. BUT the best part was the Scenic Red Rod formations!

We stayed at Red Rock Campground on a whim due to unexpected snow on a roadtrip. We called the office late on Sunday night as I wasn’t able to book same day online. No one answered because it was late, but I left a message. We pulled in and were able to connect to hookups no problem. The bathrooms were clean. The campground was very clean as well, lots of space. There were some stray dogs who were friendly— one of them even guarded the bathroom every time I went :)In the morning, I went to the office and paid. The woman in the office was friendly and helpful. $22 for overnight camping with hookups.Looks like a beautiful spot for hiking but we had to hurry out in the morning

If you want a park close to church rock, this is perfect. But if you want a safe, family and dog friendly park, this may not be for you. The park is wide open dirt parking with water and electricity available. This is right near the trail head, so day use is heavy. There are showers and bathrooms and a Post Office, so there are people coming and going all the time.

At the time that we went not many people were there. A very cool and beautiful sight to see. Very scenic. There is a trail to the cathedral rock the other side has a trail that leads to a area were you are almost surrounded by the rock very cool for photos. (Was very windy at this time and the dust was painful but the wind isn’t a usual occasion)

Always a classic park to visit when in the denver area!! Be ready for crowds and potentially closed trails if a concert is going on. SO PRETTY THOUGHRestrooms: plenty of restrooms but ask someone for help if you are struggling they can be tricky to get to

Took hike to church rock. Suggest taking left side of loop first. Very steep slanting steps up. It would be harder going down these. Wear good hiking boots with great gripping tread. Beautiful hike!

One of the best view of NM in my opinion. The Cathedral Rock is very scenic. I made the trail all the way to the bottom of the Rock. The trail is little rugged but suitable for people with reasonable mobility. It is the perfect length and very enjoyable. The view keep changing all the way. I am jealous of people living near by.

We have stayed here in the past and liked it. Now this is nothing like what it was. This park is not maintained at all. All sites are full of mud and fallen leaves and dog poop not picked up. Plus we had two large wholes someone dug but never filled. Most campers here are for a long time. The people staying there let their dogs out of camper not on a leash or supervision. There were wood pallets and gas cans and other junk around most of the rvs there. We did not feel safe at this park. I'm sad it used to be nice, Clean and inexpensive. Now not worth it.

We booked a reservation here without knowing it was the weekend of the hot air balloon festival. It was very crowded, but we were thrilled to be able to experience the balloon show. Things were a bit disorganized, and I think we ended up in a different area than we reserved, but it all worked out fine in the end. The spaces are a bit haphazard, but they have full hookups and a great view of the canyon.

There were issues getting reservations, and even after that, I was approached by 2 different campers claiming that I was on their spot even though the sign on the box clearly had my name. We stay here every year for the Annual Redrock balloon rally, which we participate in. I'm not sure what it's like the rest of the year, but while here for the rally the bathrooms and showers are clean, the trash cans are emptied daily, and power and water work. The scenery surrounding the is wonderful and the hiking trails are great.

I gave this campground just outside Gallup NM a 5 star because the scenery is gorgeous and its easy access from I 40 . We only spent 1 night but there are folks who live here which sorta gave the feel of being in the movie Nomad land. The bathroom we used was clean and it had showers and a big heating unit which kept it warm on a 24 degree morning. They used to keep them locked but too many people kept the keys so now they are supposed to be open. Leaving in the morning we discovered them locked but one of the locals had the keys to open both for us. We didn’t see a host or anyone who worked there during our visit. The site we booked online was already taken by a long term renter but she told us to just use the next door site and she moved the tent someone had left there 3 weeks ago and it was fine. She told us there are wild horses but we didn’t see any. There’s a hike from the campground to Church Rock. We started late in the evening so only got halfway but it was worthwhile. There are facilities for ppl traveling with their horses. There is also the Church Rock NM post ofc on site !This park is operated by the city of Gallup

Caution on this RV park. This is now more of a full time RV camp site. We booked a spot and when we arrived there was a full timer in our spot and noone works weekends so we couldn't talk / or send an email. We just took another spot (cuz there were plenty of them). Oh don't bother with requesting a bathroom key cuz noone is there to give it to you!If you faced the red rock, and took a hike, it was very nice!

Going to Gallup NM for ceremonials is always a blast the main highlight is the ceremonial night parade u can see dance groups for all over the southwest come together to showcase their styles of social and specialty dances then head over to the powow grounds and watch competition style dances then as the sunsets see the ceremonial family come together and show more of their dances in the main arena it's fun, exciting and educational for the whole family held every year second weekend in August hope to see you there next year

Red Rock RV park was safe and quite for an overnight stay. The negative points are ...It was not exactly clear where the office to check in is. There are 2 stray dogs roaming the whole camp site which made it hard to take out our senior dog. We have a heated water hose but in the morning the water from the well was frozen so we paid for frozen water. Since it had snowed the day before the ground was a muddy mess or frozen ice to walk on. The positive side is the view was beautiful red rocks. We finally had a campsite without a train or highway traffic. It was also so dark you could see all the stars in the sky. The price is currently $25 a night for water, electricity and 2 dump stations. Bathrooms could use some updating. If you are traveling with horses there is a place to board them as well.
