My husband was very excited to try this place today. He had the beef brisket platter. I had fried wings with macaroni and cheese and green beans sides. The food was great. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The only thing he did feel about the place was the prices being a little high. Could be because there’s not a lot of barbecue places around-That’s understandable. We’ll definitely return.

It's no hype, the Food is great, the service is great, and it's make for a great picnic in the woods. I had the collar greens, corn bread, and mac & cheese. All very good, but the star of the show was the Pulled Pork Platter, the pork was wonderful. Wanda the server was so friendly, with a wonderful smile helped steer me to the best deal. And indead the pulled pork is a great food value.eNJoy

The ribs and the chicken were everything. Seasoned well with a delicious smoke ring. The brisket was very delicious although it wasn’t smoked it melts in your mouth. The fish was very good nice thick pieces seasoned well. The sides need some help. The macaroni and cheese was not good. The cheeses used didn’t go well together. There was no flavor. The collard greens were very bitter. Not cooked long enough. The beans, and coleslaw were basic. Over all the meats were worth the drive from Delaware. The staff was very friendly and service was impeccable. I will definitely be back.

Brisket smokey, tender, and good. Cornbread sweet and soft.Sides: didn't care for, just OK, basic. Mac & cheese was peppery, needed salt and more cheese. Greens just reeked of vinegar and had a tart garlicky flavor, needed salt and just a different approach. Definitely the vinegar smell was disgusting. I first thought it was the brisket but figured out it was the collard greens. Their BBQ sauce is watery and tangy, which I didn't care for. An hour trip, wouldn't do it again unless someone else drives and would try something else or if in the area for some reason. $20 plus tax which is more than menu on their website, but they have prices subject to change disclaimer on it. Business changed hands? Was there today, it is now called "Rick's bbq and grill".Ordered the chicken platter with mac n cheese and coleslaw, chicken was tender, tasty bbq sauce. Also the rib sandwich, all very tender and tasty, but they put them between 2 slices of white bread, so minus half a star .

Writing this from Collingswood NJ. We've been to Rick's several times and it has never disappointed! My favorite is their barbecued half chicken -- it is the best I've ever had in this area, juicy, tender, and just enough smoke, it is delicious.We've also had their brisket, wings, ribs and pulled pork and all have been great, and the sides are tasty, too; the perfect compliment to the smoky meats.Rick and his crew provide friendly service and their outdoor covered pavilion is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the best barbecue in South Jersey. We drove almost an hour to try this outdoor BBQ. Their customer service was great. Fun, family, friendly vibe. However, I was not thrilled about the food. The portions were extremely small for the price. One of our platters literally only had 10 French fries. I read other reviews the complained about the portion sizes. I agree with the other reviews. For the amount of money the platters are the portions are child sized. The food lacked flavor. The BBQ sauce was salty. The pulled pork had more fat than there was meat. Also, the credit card feature on the register was down so we had to drive a few miles to an ATM to get money to pay for our food. We spent almost $100 and weren’t satisfied. The outdoor eating was a fun experience. We did call and tell the owner (Rick) about our disappointment. He was apologetic and listened to our concerns. Rick did say the next time we came back he’d take care of us. Unfortunately, there won’t be a next time b/c the food wasn’t that great for us to make the long drive again.

After years of passing this place I finally saw it on Friday and went on Sunday. Talk about a nice rib dinner for my mother on Mother’s Day. The better half and I stopped by picked up ribs enough for 8 and talk about delicious. We have been looking for a good local (ish) place to get bbq since our last was over 2hours away, and I have to say that I think we found it. Don’t worry. We shall return again and again.

When my daughter called frantically raving that I (the vegetarian) need to meet her immediately at a barbecue joint just to try the sides, I turn on the GPS and head over to Rick's Backyard BBQ. She ordered ahead of my arrival and it was a buffet of sides: green beans, hush puppies, Mac and cheese, corn bread, and a slice of sweet potato pie! I'm particular about hush puppies and OMG. They might be my new addiction. The Mac and cheese was fabulous. The pie was drizzled with syrup, so yummy! The folks there were friendly and it was certainly worth the drive. Would recommend for sure.

Visited here today! The chicken wings were best I ever tasted and my son had bbq rib sandwich. Generous amount of ribs, fall off the bone and the sauce delicious! Definitely check Rick's Backyard BBQ out, you will not be disappointed!

The brisket, coleslaw, & mac and cheese were extremely good! Very tender and flavorful brisket. Their cornbread was also very good. The cashier, Lexi, was a doll and super sweet, she manages the cash register well along with acting as waitress and checking in on all the dine in customers. The owner Rick was also walking around checking on everyone. The environment was relaxing and fun. Felt very welcomed. Will definitely be returning.

My family stopped by on Saturday coming from Williamstown. We had to wait quite awhile to order, but that wait was SOOOO worth it!! We had Ribs Brisket and wings. The ribs were amazing, the brisket tender and moist and the wings were the biggest and best I ever had. Loved the Laid back backyard atmosphere. A great Place. We live in Ocean City and will definitely be back Thank You Rick and Family

We have been going there many years when it was Uncle Dewey's on our annual trek to the Jersey shore. This was our first time back since the new owner Rick's Backyard Barbecue took over. The food is even better now! My husband and I both got the barbecue chicken with collard greens, baked beans and cornbread. My husband normally doesn't like cornbread but he said it was excellent. We highly recommend this place! Thanks Rick!

I drove 40 minutes because I had a taste for some good barbecue. Imagine my disappointment when I got home and the sauce was missing so everything was dry. The girl double checked my containers so I just assumed everything was in it but the sauce wasn’t. So imagine my disappointment eating dried ribs, thankfully I had sauce at my house… Not the same but it worked.I called to place my order over the phone because I didn’t have time to wait I was told that they weren’t taking phone orders just to come and it wouldn’t be long everything would be ready within 10 minutes after getting there. Well… That didn’t happen. When I arrived the manager wasn’t there so I guess they couldn’t run the register without him being there. So they took my order but I had to wait for him in order to pay for my food which held everything up. What could’ve been a 10 - 15 minute wait ended up being over a 40 min wait. Maybe they need to train One of the other employees to use the register while the manager steps out.
