Did you know that New Jersey is known as the hub for alpaca farms? Yes, there are 10 in the Garden State where my partner and I visited one, only 1 hour from NYC. Located among rolling hills and acres of farmland in Peapack, this establishment encourages you to visit, meet the herd, take pictures, and possibly adopt one of the gentle creatures. Alpacas are gentle-hearted, soft, cozy animals from the camelid family, including llamas and camels. These cozy creatures live between 18 and 24 years of age and come in 22 natural colors. Reservations were easily made on the same day via their website for 1:55 p.m., beginning at $14 per person. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner, Nick, and we were able to take in the earlier tour. He spoke about the history of the beautiful animal. The staff were so friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The regular ticket package comes with bags of treats for the alpacas. All ages will enjoy the experience. Those who know me know I’m from the city and wouldn’t pet anything bigger than a rabbit. The proofs are in the pictures! The farm is gorgeous and well kept. We would like to do a repeat performance with the halter training or walk, which we can recommend.

This farm is sooo cute! You get to feed the alpacas and then take them on a walk. The staff is very sweet and funny and charming! The owner gives you an overview of alpacas and facts in the beginning, afterwards you’re split into groups. You get to take tons of pictures and enjoy the scenery. Super beautiful and cute experience!

What a fun experience. It was nice to feel, pet, feed, and even walk the alpacas.Everyone on the farm was friendly. They gave us a quick lesson about alpacas and then let us spend a lot of time taking pictures and feeding the alpacas. Walking the alpaca was definitely worth the few extra dollars. Great for kids and adults and any pet lover!

Best place to visit if you LOVE alpacas. I highly recommend making a reservation. The experience is so much better when they aren’t busy. The staff is fantastic. Merida is the most adorable alpaca and I have gone to see her TWICE.

I had the most fun and heartwarming experience at the Bluebird Farm Alpacas. The staff were super knowledgeable of the animals and friendly throughout the experience. We got to feed and hangout with the alpacas, learn facts about them and then we got to walk them on a leash! I recommend going on a weekday to have more of a one on one with the animals! They also have a gift shop with items related to the farm and products made from the farm. I cannot wait to go back again. I cannot recommend enough booking an experience here!

Such a lovely farm! The team that works with the alpacas and in the gift shoppe were wonderful! The alpacas were so much fun to feed, so soft and just such a beautiful animal! This is a great place to take kids to learn, pet and feed alpacas. Reservations needed for harnessing and farm feeding tours. They also have a fantastic gift shop with some super cute accessories like gloves, hats or bears made from alpaca fluff.

Let me start by saying that I have two toddlers, one being special needs.I ordered my tickets far in advance and paid extra for four tickets so that maybe one of us would be able to walk an alpaca. We arrived late due to our tots having a rough time and the hours in travel time. The owner proceeded to embarrass us Infront of other guest by telling me that he was letting me see the animals as a courtesy when I asked if he could reschedule us for another day instead so we wouldn’t loose the $110 spent, or if he could at least let one of my boys walk an alpaca. Kept saying that there was nothing he could do, although it was his farm, and they are his animals.Said that I was stealing time and space from the people standing behind him. The look on their faces made us feel so small. It’s Clear that he needs the money, and would not be kind enough to reschedule us for another day. Was truly giving RACIST vibes, it’s unfortunate that people like this still exist in our country. Heartless and hungry. I’m sure if we weren’t people of color, it would have been a different story. Thank God we were blessed enough to be able to takeOur children to a better establishment. I won’t recommend this place to anyone anymore. I’ll definitely let my organization know as well, since we often like to send our families there. There’s a much nicer farm just a few minutes away. Save your money for people who are compassionate and understand families who have small children, life isn’t perfect at times, I’ll always choose to find ways to be light to others, this place clearly won’t. I would never turn a child away after such a long journey, let alone keep over $108 in my pocket for not providing a service. Oh and the website will take your money for an alpaca walk but won’t state the age restriction! So not sure if my toddler would have been able to walk with one, so shameful!

We had such an awesome experience! Definitely know the difference between a Llama and an alpaca now too! I recommend doing the halter training/walk. It just adds a little more pizazz to the experience. The staff were so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The store has many great items that are soft and fashionable! I would definitely do this again.

We went to Bluebird for my wife's birthday and can't say enough good things about the farm, the staff and the experience! A lot of the other reviews cover the services they offer in detail so won't be redundant but highly recommend the tour & halter training as you each get to walk an alpaca and spend time out in the fields with them.As others have mentioned, each alpaca has a unique personality and they are genuinely curious and funny animals. Very docile and comfortable to be around, even for those who aren't as familiar with farm animals. Most of them will let you softly pet their backs and most will eat feed right out of your hand. The entire staff was amazing. The overview is very educational and we learned a lot about alpacas we didn't know previously. If you book the tour (recommended) you can go into the pens and mingle w/ the alpacas. Again, alpacas are very docile but cautious so as long as you're nice and calm and allow them to see you, you can simply walk up beside them and interact; most will allow you to softly pet their backs. We were there in late April, 1 week before the sheering so we got to see them in all their glorious fluffiness. Their fiber/fur is so soft and the finished product (all kinds of neat examples avail in gift shop) is softer than cashmere. We were there an hour between the tour and the halter training and could have stayed longer as the staff was very accommodating. The farm is gorgeous and well kept. Facilities are very clean and everyone is so friendly and gracious. Highly recommend!

It was a great hour experience for our son. He loved to feed and pet all of the alpacas who were incredibly friendly and patient. The staff was awesome. They explained all the different personalities of each alpaca and what they like and don't. We had plenty of food to feed them.If you want to walk the alpacas, it's a small amount extra and can only reserve when you buy a ticket online. There is a small bathroom on site. The parking lot is small so it's probably best to arrive as close to your time as possible or there won't be room for you to park.

Went today for the first time and it was such a great experience! All of the staff were extremely friendly and so kind hearted! They give a little learning speech before the tour to explain alpacas, the farm, and fun facts and it was informational and cute! For the walks they really match the alpacas to folx personalities which was a nice touch, I had Merida and she was such a perfect alpaca. I will definitely be brining friends back (and cash to tip the tour guides because they were so excellent!). Family friendly for all ages

Absolutely loved it here! Went with a friend for the farm tour and alter training and was very content. You got to meet and feed all the alpacas and then got to hold one to walk with. Staff was awesome and super friendly and make sure you get plenty of pictures. Will recommend to a friend and will be back.

Staff is so sweet, open farm lands and meeting the alpacas were amazing! I enjoyed how they educated us about alpacas and their history, meeting the alpacas and we paid for the halter training so it was great walking some of the alpacas. Totally recommend this for family or friends. Very chill and educational activity.

Bluebird Farm Alpacas is definitely an amazing place to come hangout with these beautiful, friendly animals. They're very good for kids and for people of any age. They are not aggressive and you can pet them all day long. I love this place and the owner and staff are incredible people and will treat you like family. Definitely suggest you all to come here and bring your kids and family and enjoy a day away from the city. Love this place. 😀

I found this farm while looking for ideas for a fun bachelorette day for my sister, so I booked a last-minute ticket to check it out first by myself. I wanted to make sure that the animals were well-cared for and that it would really be fun (and not just a petting zoo kind of experience). When I arrived, a very friendly and helpful lady named Jayne checked me in at the front desk. She answered all my questions and even gave me some ideas for the bachelorette day. When I told her I had wanted to walk an alpaca but tickets were sold out online, she checked to see if there was an opening and fit me in.For the tour, first Nick (the owner) gave an educational and entertaining short lesson about alpacas. Then we spent some time one-on-one with them in their enclosure. After a while we went to a second enclosure and hung out with another group of alpacas. And after that, we took a third group of alpacas for a walk. I wish I had gotten the names of the young ladies who helped us walk them that day because they were awesome. Being alone, I figured I’d end up with a few selfies, but they offered to take our phones and took tons of pics for everyone.Seeing that the alpacas were obviously very healthy, happy and loved, and since I had a really fun time even by myself, I decided to book a tour/walk for my sister and the girls. Nick took the time to chat with me and help me plan the day. I was surprised at how reachable the owner makes himself by phone and email. Even though I couldn’t book a private tour (because there was already one booked on my date), Nick was super accommodating and helped me arrange what felt like a private tour anyway. He was ok with my brother coming along to photograph us, and he suggested bringing stuff for a picnic afterwards (they have a cute spot with a table under some trees). So a couple weeks later I was back with a group of girls and they all had a fantastic time. Again, the young ladies working there were all wonderful – really kind (to both people and alpacas), took lots of pics for us, taught us about the individual alpacas who they clearly knew well. Liv helped us get to know the alpacas in the enclosures, and Jessica and Maisie took us for a walk.Overall this was a super fun, educational, affordable day. Nick and his team went above and beyond in giving me ideas and helping me plan. I did not expect so much support for what’s just a regular day to them. They obviously get that it’s a special day for their visitors :) Thank you Nick, Jayne, Jessica, Maisie, Liv, and everyone else for such a fun time!

It was totally cool and fun experience. Definitely worth the ticket price (general admission is only 15$ per person). It definitely works for the whole family and kids . Each Alpaca have different character- done more friendlier then others which is fun to watch. Staff is helpful and polite. Few cons whuch I wish I knew beforehand:1)don’t wear expensive shoes , I had to wash my shoes several times after the farm in order to get rid of the smell.2) better book the time slots when not many people around. Our group was pretty packed which left little time to spend with alpacas. Group after us was even more packed .Other then that I highly recommend that experience

Brought the family here because they love Alpacas. They throughly enjoyed themselves. The alpacas were very friendly and they each had their own personalities. All in all great place.

Very nice place to take your kids to. Alpacas are friendly and will take food from your hand.Has 6 dollar entrance fee per person. Also have small flower garden. My 2 years old had a blast.People are super duper friendly.Only two things to improve:1. The restroom2. The price in the shop is a little too high, $40 for a child's hat is a little too much. At least that's what I think.

Worst !very bad experienceThose poor alpacas, being fed repeatedly by tourists, have no choice but to be taken for a walk by groups of tourists. Although the weather is very hot, greedy farms use it to make money. Disgusting, you can only use the smelly toilet, which is separated from the alpaca by a wooden board. You are not allowed to use the real toilet in the room. Never go back friend, those poor alpacas will feel better.

Visited the farm with my girlfriend and my friends. EXTREMELY friendly staff, and a very nice setting. I suggest to go earlier in the day, so the alpacas are more interested in food. Also drive slowly, we drove past the small sign on the road announcing the entrance to the farm

I’ve visited this place for first time last week (08/27). I went to see the Alpacas To begin with: Try to make your reservation before you go there. This will help you find a spot on a busy day.Parking has enough space. It’s not a formal parking with lines, you’ll park on grass. They’ve 19 alpacas. Various colors. I’ve loved spending time with Alpacas. Touching, hugging, feeding them. You can also take them with you for a walk inside their dedicated path. They’ve several summer interns kids, they’re very knowledgeable. They interacted very well. They’ve a store with winter wears that’s made up from Alpacas fiber. They trim the fiber once a year.
