I stopped in today to buy tennis balls! The clerk kindly brought me to the correct isle! I went back in to grab a water the gentleman that waited on me was not at the register! A gentleman that was on break outside, promptly came inside and range me up! What a great experience!

I’ve been going to this dollar general everyday for over maybe 2 years. Today will be the last day I ever come here. I went in last night to get a twenty dollar spendwell card paid 21 dollars for it, one dollar to purchase and 20 to activate. Kid gives takes my money gives me the card says I’m good to go. I get home no transaction made, I call manager in Newport location he’s says shouldn’t be a problem to get it fixed. Go down here today they say without a receipt I can’t get myMoney back from dollar general for a spendwell card even though the spendwell was never activated so dollar general basically robbed me of my last little bit of cash IGNORED Me when I was confronting the dude at the counter. Needless to say a lawyer is coming there way soon enough. Stay away from this location it’s ran by druggies and shady people for real. 🤙 I’ve lived in Newport area my whole life I never make reviews so let this place starve. There’s a citgo right down the road that’s where my new spot will be with plenty of nice friendly TRUSTWORTHY employees.

The hours for this location are 8am-8pm, 7 days a week. The isles are tight and customer service can be hit or miss. There are are a few employees who go above and beyond and a few who will refuse to even speak to you.

Very displease with the service here, went in and got nothing but rude attitudes and stood at the counter for AGES. citgo is the place.

idk personally i think it's slightly crowded in there and they close early all the time due to their incompetence of keeping a well directed and balanced staff under poor management with the addition of horrendously low pay rate. It also seems that some of these reviews are coming from petty people with a conflict of interest involved pathetically attempting to keep their own rating higher than deserved. So sad to see such unprofessional behavior, you're better off going to the Newport dollar general that actually has their store in order and not a complete mess.

I stop here just about every day on my way home to grab a drink or whatever I need. Often times have my son with me. Always plenty of variety and Dea is always very polite when checking us out.

User “Carl Llama” is a disgruntled former employee now leaving poor reviews (on multiple accounts) alongside his young girlfriend because they are upset that he was not performing up to task as an employee and subsequently had to leave the workplace. Keep in mind when reading.

I BEElieve leaving any review as a store manager on your own store would be a conflict of interest and highly unprofessional to do so based off of "disgruntled" feelings from a disagreement on how your store is being rated.

Every time I walk in I’m greeted with a smile by the friendly staff and when I can’t find what I’m looking for they help me try and find it. One time there was an associate who went to the back room and searched through their overstock to find what I was looking for and did it all with a smile on their face!!

I have stopped there several times in the past few days and there is a hand written sign ( and a bad handwriting to say the least) that says closed which I get staff shortage but as a manager it would be their responsibility to be there with a flyer for black Friday saying they are open on thanksgiving and yet another hand written sign that says closing at 130 and the flyer said open til 10 pm No way to stay in business
