I have been using Hair of the Dog since they opened and I have been very happy with them. Their groomers take their time with my babies so that they have a pleasant experience vs speeding through the whole operation and making them overwhelmed. Everyone is very nice, helpful and loves dogs!

We have been to most of the kennels in Tahoe and Carson and Hair of the Dog is our favorite. We take our Aussies there for socialization, and to let out some energy on days we are busy. Our dogs love it and the staff are friendly. We have left them for some overnight trips and I’m never worried about their care. It’s peace of mind! They get lots of love and attention. We wish we still lived close in Tahoe so we could visit more often but we make the trek up the hill anytime we are going out of town. We appreciate Hair!

This place is amazing! Shootout to Pamela and Marilyn. They are both incredible! They were accommodating and figured out how to help us. Our boy Jogger loved his day care experience. This will definitely be our go to spot and where we will recommend our friends bring their dogs. Again, Pamela was amazing and Marilyn did so well with Jogger.

We had a wonderful experience with boarding Malcolm at Hair of the Dog. We were traveling in from SLC for the week and our condo was not pet friendly but we really wanted to bring along our papillon for Tahoe adventures and Hair of the Dog made it so convenient for easy drop off/pick up with very flexible hours.Fantastic location paired with amazing and caring staff (24 hrs a day!). Malcolm was happy and well cared for. We will definitely use Hair of the Dog for future Tahoe trips!

When we picked our dog up, she was very thirsty. Since picking her up, she hasn't been her same energetic self. Something off with her. The gal at the front desk is very rude. Definitely not a people person. Hope she treats our beloved animals better then she treats people. We've had our dog kenneled there on several occasions and that same gal has always been just flat out rude. My bad for not knowing her name. Would like to call her out directly

I was visiting but my dogs were dirty from our road trip and I didn't think I'd be able to find anyone but they took my two long hair chihuahuas in right away. They had them for a few hours. I bought a really cute harness for my girl dog from them. The only thing was my dogs barely looked groomed and didn't smell all that great. My longer-haired chihuahua always needs at least two brush-outs so she was kind of matted looking instead of a fluffy cotton ball. This picture is after the grooming.

Took fabulous care of our sweet puppy while we were able to have a great day on the slopes. Took photos and text them to us on the Mountain. Will use them every time we come to Tahoe.

We were very nervous about leaving our older rescue pup in doggy daycare, as he didn't seem to get along with other dogs. The staff assured us he would be fine and we were pleasantly surprised to receive photos of him hanging out with other dogs and enjoying being one of the pack. Our experience with Hair of the Dog was possibly the best part of an already wonderful trip to Tahoe. All the staff we dealt with were highly knowledgeable of dogs and displayed genuine care for each of them. 100% recommend and we will definitely be back!

It was our first visit to Hair of the Dog Pet Concierge and we are thrilled with how they groomed our little Poodle/ Maltese mix. Every other place we have taken her does not follow our simple instructions (same length all over, with the shortest possible guard you have). People tend to want to make her poofy and very precious looking. We are delighted that here they took our request to heart! They treated her so nicely, and they were accommodating with our schedule. Cannot recommend enough and we will definitely be back

Long over due negative review.Although the staff can be great the owner can be very off putting & the one time I had my dog groomed there they didn’t even groom her….Maybe this is a great place for smaller dogs, but for my large dog this was not a good fit.And if you do try this place keep water on hand for pickups, someone told me this the first time I dropped my dog off & he was right- my pup was in need of water after staying thereGood luck!

We didn’t end up using any services, but the customer service was top notch. We were looking for a groomer for a huge rescue dog that’s never been groomed. They pointed me in the right direction, and he’s a new dog now! We will absolutely be bringing some of the rescues to doggie day care

Excellent place for my dog, for a 2-night stay. The staff I interacted with were caring and appeared to love their job and were attentive to the dogs and gave a full report of the stay when we left. My 8-year old dog seemed happy and enjoyed the socialization with other pups. We were visiting friends in the area and couldn't bring the dog to their home, and this was a great option for us. I'd use them again if in the area.

My dog Shadow has stayed here multiple times and each time I felt fully confident in the care he was recieving. Before staying at Hair of the Dog he stayed at other places and when I would pick him up he was curled up in the corner or terrified and shaking bc he is a high anxiety dog with some PTSD but that doesn't happen here. The ladies that run Hair of the Dog are so amazing at what they do. One of them even stayed the night with Shadow the night I left because he seemed stressed and when I picked him up he seemed so happy and in love with the staff. This is by far the best experience I have ever had and you can tell these ladies love what they do and will truly treat your dog like you would. I have nothing but great things to say about this place!

My fur baby Farrah loves going to doggy daycare at Hair of the Dog. She tends to hide from me so that she doesn’t have to leave at the end of the day. 😂 Pam and her staff are amazing and I am so glad I found a place where I don’t have to worry if my pup is being cared for and loved. I was in the area for a few days, and these ladies were absolutely wonderful. Each dog is respected and loved and very much looked after. Their facility and very clean, and very professional. They were even willing to watch my 10 month (and very energetic) Heeler mix, who had surgery not a week before. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for either daycare or boarding.

I was not happy with this place due to how the owner handles her business (some of the employees here were great this has nothing to do with them). My dog stayed here for a week. My dog is intact and she told me that there could be an extra fee. The owner (Pamela) told me that she probably wouldn't charge me. Once she met him she said not to worry about the charge as I inquired about it a couple of times. Evertime I picked him up they had nothing but great things to say about our golden. She never once said that she would have to charge me that day. During his stay she recommend collidal silver because some of the dogs were having "allergy issues" and someone tried or did bring in a sick dog that she had to send home. Once we picked him up to take him home he was pretty lethargic. We thought that he was probably tired from playing with the other dogs and going for his walks. She warned me that he may have some allergy issues due to the melting snow and if I took him to the vet they may say that he has kennel cough. The fact that she kept bringing up "allergy issues" should have been a red flag. She took my card charge us and said she'd send the bill. I pulled up the bill on our way home and noticed a $80 charge for my dog being intact. I tried calling several times to discuss this charge with her and she never once returned my call. She emailed me and said sorry she was too busy to call. The one time I did get a hold of her she said she had to go to a meeting and she'd have someone else from the board call me back. Nobody ever called me. I took my dog to the vet once we got home because I could tell something wasn't right. Sure enough he had an upper respiratory infection. I emailed Pamela to let her know about our $160 vet bill due to this infection. She still didn't call me back. She emailed me apologizing for my dog not feeling well. She said that her dogs had upper respiratory infections due to their walks in the meadows and that this was common. Whether his infection was due to this or not, she should have returned my calls. Pamela was very unprofessional. As a business owner she should have handled this matter promptly with a simple phone call. I was always personable with her and her staff. These matters really should have been handled differently. We will NOT be back.

Our doggy---a rescue with occasional trauma response --spent 3 days and nights here while we attended a wedding. They were spectacular with her. The amount of attention they give their clients is amazing!!! Wish they were closer to my home in Oregon!!!

We recently had our dogs here for about 5 days and when we picked them up, they were intensely itching themselves. I went in to them the next day to ask the staff about it and they said "it's allergies, all the dogs have them..." we found out a few days later that our dogs were infected by lice. Absolutely the worst thing to have to deal with and watch my dogs deal with. Hopefully they have discovered for themselves what was going on in the facility and closed up to clean. I will not be bringing my dogs back to them!

Person I spoke to on phone and made reservation with neglected to inform me that I needed all vaccination records or no admittance. The Owner refused to believe me about being unaware of records requirement and kept contradicting me, she then made a snap judgement that my dog was too aggressive. (He had barked at another dog), my dog is a large Black Lab and most of their dogs were small dogs. They checked my dog to see if he was ok and they said he was so. I was on time for drop off 4:30 after riding Kirkwood that day but it was a no go because of no records. As I stated I cannot follow rules that I am unaware of. They did attempt to help us find another sitter and were professional after the initial problems, I do respect their standards after they were explained them however this was the first time I had ever used a boarding facility and was flying blind on the occasion. I would say that they are pros however.

We were staying at Harvey's in one of the pet friendly rooms. This place is two blocks away and we wanted to gamble a bit. We dropped off my girlfriend's rescue dog for two hours and he was fine!

Friendly and caring staff. Hours are convenient. You have time to enjoy a full day on the slopes and go out for dinner. Ask to confirm their hours, but they stayed open into the mid evening. Highly recommend.
