The sort of bar that makes you wishes for a dust storm so you'd get locked in for a whole evening.First class beer selection on draft and bottles combined with pure dive bar decor. It's your ultimate bar for whiling away an afternoon with some beer and great local company. The wood burner outside next to the giant pine provided a nice glow of warmth to go with what was undeniably delicious chilli.It's a community bar that clearly loves its locals and welcomes those who have come from further afield. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone. Just remember the Cowboy Code: if it's not yours, don't take it; if it's not true, don't say it; if it's not right, don't do it.

Solid chili and chili dogs, exceptionally welcoming staff, friendly patrons, and clean restrooms. It was my fault to expect some cute, kid-friendly place. If you don't mind adult-friendly decorations, I highly recommend this place. A little and very fitting gem at the gateway to Death Valley National Park!Vegetarian options: Crackers and beer, but not chili.Dietary restrictions: They make it very clear that the chili is not GF.Parking: There is a casino parking lot across the street. Also there are street parking spots along the road. No designated parking lot, but there is no need for it.Kid-friendliness: There is an antique chastity belt hanging on the wall. I guess I don't need to add more.🙃Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible.

Tried their locally famous Chili. The bowl cost $7. At first glance I was a little disappointed with the size of the bowl, but happily the chili was so thick (no visible liquid) and meaty that the portion was just the right size. Two types of beef are used, and the seasonings and spices (it has a little zip to it) make for a tasty, filling treat. Served with chopped onions, crackers and a lively atmosphere. I recommend you give the Happy Burro a try.

Did not eat here but popped in for a night-cap. What a pleasant experience.. got dragged in by friendly informative locals, then bar lady / owner got us chatting with hreat service.. left as friends with everyone there! Got told about the local Burro and wild horse tradition of the area and the amazing history of the bar and town.. be sure to go find out for yourself when in town..

Quirky, fun place for a hot dog and beer before entering Death Valley!I had a plain hot dog & my husband got a chili dog and said it was the best chili he’s ever had! Fun listening to the locals at the bar, the bartender was so friendly!It’s very very small, 4 bar stools and 2 tables but it was packed and we had a great time!

Came for the sheer charm and the chili dog. I was not disappointed. This place is laid back with old west charm. Do not come here with your city hustle and bustle. Come to relax, chat with friends and make new ones. Very pleasant atmosphere. The bar is small but the patio area is good size. Oh and the chili dog was the best I've ever had. Thanks for the experience.

The food here is ok...but its pretty hard to screw up pre-made hot dogs and chili...it was like any other cheap chili dog I've ever had. However, I would advise tourists to avoid this place. The place is rather small. There is a smell of cigarettes in the air. There are loud patrons screaming obscenities...I heard the F word yelled out loud so many times. So, in my opinion, this is not the place for decent folks with any iota of class and definitely not for families. Also, if you're not white, you get distasteful looks from some of the older local specimens.

Tiny little hole in the wall with ice cold draught beer and tasty chili. Ot much else on the menu, I didn't even see a menu. There is a full liquor bar also. 2 TV's with sports.

Finally stopped after having passed it many times. The chili is great not too spicy, no beans has two kinds of meat if you get the chili dog. Quant old and just plain old charming. The oriental lady working was a treat.

What a great stop. Great beer and full bar, delicious chili, and filled with colorful local characters. We got some local history from one of the regulars, Dino, who told us the whole town is fed by a 200-mile underground river system— cool! We didn’t see any burros on the trip, but maybe next time :)

I was not impressed with this establishment but it probably was largely due to misaligned expectations. The gal behind the bar who took our takeout food order wasn't pleasant or friendly. The guy who came out from the back to hand us our order was, however. The burgers were acceptable but pretty basic (3 rings of raw onion, one slice tomato and shredded iceberg lettuce). They are also advertised as being accompanied by chips but they came with Cheetos. If you're looking for cheap food to help you stay sober while you drink this place might be your place but if you're looking for a good meal you might want to look elsewhere.
