Not been to the Safeway in chadron Nebraska in a long time but today I hit the golden ticket I found Tillamook ice cream which you don't find in many places. The price is a pretty good and check out was fast The staff was friendly kind and helpful.

I used to really dislike coming to this store but since the new manager took over, Ashley, things have been great. The music in the store is updated and pleasant and all the shelves are fully stocked. Bravo Safeway for putting her in charge.

I love the amount of specialty items you can get here without the cost being outrageous. Every department has an amazing selection of different items, not just a handful. We drive an hour out of our way to shop here. It's well worth it!

Beautiful park, loved camping there. I love how it sits down by the creek, large picnic areas and play grounds.I love the fact it has a restroom with showers. For me it worked out fine and had hot water, but for my wife, she refused to use it, because it had spider webs and the showers were not up to par for her... (the water sprays out of the handle and the sides of the shower head) but like I said, I was happy to have a shower and a bathroom to use.We for sure will use this park again in the future.

I worked at this location years ago, so I sympathize with the employees of Slaveway because retail service industry jobs are unpleasant. My biggest issues with this location come from the sales. Rarely do they get the good meat specials in that they advertise on sale, and the Safeway club price is often not applied to my order so you have to go over your receipts to make sure things actually came up at the sale price. From there it's a real pain to get it corrected and requires a manager override to refund to difference.

I'm beginning to wonder if a requirement for working at this store is to be rude to customers. A few months ago we showed up at the store at 7:30 pm to only be greeted by someone who said she was a manager saying they are closing at 8 and to hurry and get our stuff and check out. When I needed help with an item she said she was too busy trying to close the store to be out by 8. A month or so ago we then go to the deli at 6 only to be told by the employee there that he has already cleaned everything before his dinner break and wasn't going to do any more things that would make the place messy. I was told the deli closes at 9. Yesterday checking out the cashier was short and rude. I had problems with my card and he kept moving the card scanner so I couldn't read it. He then pushed the buttons and when I said I had wanted cash back he said to bad you'll have to buy something else. The manager from above was standing in the next line hearing all this and did nothing. Customers in other lines where even staring and commented on how rude he was when they walked by me outside.

Would have given 5 stars except I thought the young man behind me should not have paid full price for the dozen of doughnuts he was purchasing at 1:30-2:00. Although they looked delicious!😉

I realize this is a small location however produce selection leave a lot to be desired. I only found two 8 packs of premium hamburger rolls. I suppose this is due to walmarts competition here. The store was clean bit not well organized. Checkout was friendly.

We can get what we need for groceries but the deli was shut down for the day. Tried to get fried chicken and they had nothing. We got there around 5 pm to get something for supper. The deli was closed up. Happened to us for second time in two weeks. Got told by deli wouldn't cook any more because it took two hours to clean things up.

I'd give it a 4.5 really. Great selection at Mt. View store if you are serious about cooking. The sale prices are good. The digital coupons can be great. Good produce and meat. Don't shop here without your Safeway card or you will get hosed on prices.

The service is not very good. Waiting in line with only one or two checkouts open when there are multiple people waiting. I had three items but wanted lottery tickets. Employees saw me standing there waiting to be helped, but just walked by. The guy finally came out of the office after being paged. He did my lottery order but didn't offer to ring up my three items!! I had to go to the checkout stand and do another transaction!

New store manager is fantastic - it's so good to see in a small town, a business minded person with the boldness to make confident friendly and smart business decisions from early on (empowering department managers, moving and rotating product better, moving customers faster through the checkout process, etc). All of these choices are good for business and good for our community. She is a delight and I'm happy to have her here in Chadron!

This location has a nice variety in their produce section. They have a decent selection of vegan and vegetarian items available as well. (ie: vegan sausages and patties and cheeses) Service is great. They are always helpful and friendly. Shelves are always well stocked. The bakery has been hit or miss lately. Must be going thru some sort of transition? Overall, it is always a good experience for me.

The store is always clean and smells of food from the bakery and deli. They do offer a membership card which brings down the prices. Fruit and vegetables are always fresh.

Understaffed and so slow at checkout. Management plays favorites as to who they will open another register for. This has happened to me twice in 4 days. Where a manager opens up a register and takes the person behind me while I stand there with less than five items and they have a basket full. At least down the road they have self checkouts, maybe Safeway should invest in some so there employees don't have to do anything, heaven knows they don't want to be bothered.

Decent place and good for quick trips or grocery shopping, but skip the meat department and go to Walmart. I swear the last four or five trips to this location, the steaks are paper thin, literally about as thick as 1/4 to 1/2 " thick. Good prices, average service, and an average Safeway, recently deducted a star because of the meat department.

Nicely stocked, many varieties to choose from and friendly staff. The fresh baked breads were hit hard before I got there so missed 1 thing I really like but otherwise got all on my list and then some.

I use to buy their artichoke jalapeno dip almost weekly but they have changed the recipe...not even close :( bring back the old recipe please :(

A decent store with better produce by a notch than the other competitor in town, the Super Walmart. Nice deli as well, with a greater assortment of harder-to-find products you'll find nowhere else in town such as the fantastic Tillamook Ice Cream that another poster has posted about. Having spent over half a dozen years in the state of Oregon I came to know Tillamook products including their incredible cheeses. Just one example of some of the quality products to be found here at Safeway.Their service desk can be slower than steam off of cold biscuits in getting someone to wait on you, always has been, so be prepared. Am also always checking the on-sale, day-old bakery rolling rack at the rear center of the store for a bargain or two, as everything I've purchased there for years now has been acceptable to me. A few cookies on sale along with a quart of 50% off milk can make for more enjoyable day (am such a cheap date... or a recovering Republican, more like it).

The styling is fairly dated, but they have a better selection than Walmart. Walmart's food selection is very basic. For example, Walmart has zero sourdough bread, but Safeway has a couple of brands. Also, Walmart removed their deli, but Safeway still cuts their meat and cheese. If I want something more than generic white bread, I'll go to Safeway. Biggest annoyance is that there are no self checkouts, and there's often a line for the checker.

It's either here or Walmart in this town for groceries. If you want the freshest foods obviously go here. I'm putting 3 stars because a manger was quite obnoxious to my 87 year old Grandma, because she asked about a sale that was from the week before

After checkout had to show 4 you and got $2.43 refund. I get tired of always having to check my receipt for errors. Happens at least 90%. Feel sorry for those who don't pay attention

Produce used to be the reason I came here, but now it is just overpriced, low quality, and lacking in what I actually desire. It is sad to say it but Walmart has better prices on higher quality produce.
