Great Store!I loved going in and looking at all the aquariums and fish they had. I had a lot of fun. People there were nice too. They gave me some good ideas for what kind of tank I would like to set up in my own home.

One of our favorite places for fish in town. The shop is looking really good these days. They have the most beautiful and healthy Bettas in town. We had to get this gorgeous guy!

This place doesn’t have a return policy bc they know they sell sick fish. Had to wait on my parrot fish bc they were getting some sort of “treatment”…. Got them home and within 24 hours, all my other fish (that have been alive and healthy without issues whatsoever) are dead and the 2 parrot fish I bought from here for $50 (outrageous) are barely hanging on and I’m sure will be dead soon too! These expensive parrot fish have killed my whole tank, including my fish I had over 4 years. And more stuff is growing in my tank that I’ve never seen. This place is awful. I wouldn’t recommend spending a dime on their overpriced sick fish.

You don't take very good care of your fish. Just recently we bought a koi fish that literally had wrinkled skin and scales and loose, but you claimed this poor fish was just old but it actually was starved. That koi that we rescued from you is beautiful and healthy now thanks to us just simply feeding it. Another time we bought a pricey Oscar fish you were letting eat koi and goldfish, which you knew it wasn't compatible with, so that fish died 3 days later because he was sick from eating those koi and goldfish. Also, I'm tired of you changing prices within a day. Just today you changed the price on the Jack Dempsey, yesterday you had the price at a reasonable amount, today you raised the price tremendously. That's not the right way to be to loyal customers. I didnt even mention other times you weren't fair about certain things. You guys are mean!!!

I've been messing with fish for awhile and I found this little out of the way place that I really love to go to for all my fish stuff. Found an albino African cichlid! Really pretty boy. The store clerk was overwhelmed but handled herself really professional. Service was quick and courteous and the fish I bought were priced lower than fish that I would have gotten at a name brand pet store. Definitely recommend.

Staff was so helpful by phone and while I was in the shop getting my new pet! They accommodated me since I had to travel to them and really took the time to answer all my questions so I felt confident when I left with my pet. Great experience!

Not a great experience place seems to have gone downhill. The guy worker there ?Mike? Is just a creep wouldn't stop staring at my breast the whole time I womt be back for that reason alone. But other wise, Bettas looked horrible, high prices almost 3x as much as just buying from the breeder.

I previously gave this place a five star rating. That was before I did any business with them. First of all the shop is a mess and horrible to shop. Half of the fish on display are not for sale because that makes sense. The layout is dark and the shop feels cluttered. My biggest gripe however is the owner. He has horrible communication skills. I spent a huge amount of money at this shop and it was like pulling teeth to get any kind of information from him. I want this shop to be great as its the only one in Springfield but as of right now its not worth dealing with. It's so bad that I am going to drive an hour north just to go to a aquarium shop that does things right. That all said if things were to get better at this shop I would absolutely shop here again.

To set the tone, I drive from Lebanon to pick up fish from Aquarium Shoppe. This is not just because of the outstanding quality of fish, but also because everyone here I have spoken to has their own niche within the hobby and are very knowledgeable - they're also super friendly. (Looking at you, Kevin).I have purchased 5 discus, among several other fish (loving the mbuna tank btw) from this store over the last year. I mention the discus because they are known to be "difficult" to keep. All of my fish have lived and are absolutely thriving. While they don't guarantee live animals, whether they live or not depends on the buyer. You are in charge of your animal's well being once it leaves the shop. Just do your water changes, watch your temperature and how much you feed and your fish will be fine!Each time I have purchased fish from here, they have been of the best quality and never sick. Any time they suspect a fish may be sick, they always quarantine for observation. It appears they also source from local breeders when they can, which supports the community.They have an excellent selection of fresh and saltwater fish, several frozen foods, decent deals on tanks, along with some nice scaping materials for your tanks and extra aquarium supplies (sumps included). On SEVERAL occasions, I've walked in and was greeted by someone cleaning tanks, so the fish are always very well cared for. If you're looking for a new LFS that knows fish (not just sells them), look no further.

I had to surrender my fish because I am moving 12 hours away and they said no fish tanks. When I brought them in I was so upset but after seeing all of their beautiful tanks I felt better. The young man that helped us was very patient and answered all of my questions. He was gentle with my fish and even took his time to show me the tanks they would be going in. All the tanks looked very clean and there didn’t seem to be sick or dead fish in them. I’m very appreciative of them and would highly recommend!

I went about a month ago to get fish and it was my first time. I was expecting it to be a pretty small shop, judging from the front, but when I went inside, I was pleasantly surprised by all the tanks in the back. The white cloud minnows I got are thriving, the sponge filter works great, and the guppies I got look great. I lost one female guppy recently, but I'll definitely come back to get more females. I've gotten a handful of babies from the ones I bought and I'm looking forward to getting more. The guy working that day had answers for all the questions I had about breeding fish, as that is something I would like to start doing, and which fish would be most profitable. I've seen a couple other people comparing the prices of fish and plants here to the ones at chain stores, but there's a good reason for that. The quality and health of the ones here are WAY better than the ones at chain stores. I'm looking forward to my next visit here.

Mike is a great employee there. He's very knowledgeable, always willing to help out and answer questions. The shippe itself, on the other hand, seems to be going downhill. The owner just doesn't seem to care about the customers anymore.

This is the best place in town to buy fish and other items. Everyone is very helpful and they took the time to answer all of my questions. If you are wanting healthy fish that you know have been taken care of correctly, go to the Aquarium Shoppe!

I've bought about half of my fish from this store. Customer service is great. Staff was knowledgeable. Prices are 50/50. Some extremely low, some a little high. Blue Jack Dempsey babies for $5? That's crazy low. Really great selection and great care taken of the fish. I drive 106 miles, round trip, to shop at this store. Best store to get your fish in sw Missouri.

Pet smart is better than this store and the pet smart employees know more about their fish then this FISH store. Aquarium shop makes sure all fish are “disease free” how do u know that when u told me you know nothing about the fish I was purchasing lol. The fish died within 24 hrs….. I have had multiple of these type of fish for many years and know what kind of environment and conditions the tank and water needs to be, so I feel this one is not on me. Since “all their fish are disease free” they have no return policy. If a fish dies with in 24hrs or even 72hrs from ur store especially with an experienced fish enthusiast. In my opinion should be able to be taken back in exchange for another fish. Also this fish was $25….. I buy a lot fish/stuff and this store will not be getting my money again.

Had my first visit yesterday! Drove 2 hours just to check them out because I am so frustrated with the health of my fish from the big box stores. Everyone was so helpful, I was even given a start of hornwort! Everything was thriving and healthy and it was so good to know many of their fish and snails were provided by local hobbiest! I will definitely be back!

The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because I hear Mike is leaving. He makes it a five-star shop with his knowledge and advice. It's hard to find people like him and, when he isn't there, it's just not the same. I would do whatever it takes to keep such an asset.

Nice selection of fish, and gorgeous tank layouts. The man who was working was very nice and helpful. The lady I talked to however, made me feel awful. I felt talked down to, and her comments of , "If you want to do it that way" honestly set in my mind that maybe this hobby wasn't going to be for me. Not for lack of interest in it, or willingness to learn, but just the way I was being treated. I went to Petco and bought my fish and tank accessories there instead. All of the people I saw while visiting the Aquarium Shoppe also went to Petco right after. Could have been a coincidence, but I thought it was telling.

This shop has really gone downhill. Most staff have zero knowledge about what they are talking about. (mike is the only one there that has any clue what hes talking about) Saltwater tanks are LOADED with pests (aptasia, starfish) they haven't been getting in any new coral shipments in for months. (frag tanks have a bunch of coral but none is for sale as it all belongs to tanks that they maintain) Store has had a display tank that has been out of order forever (300g that sprung a leak that they have been repairing for a year). and everything is super expensive compared to online/Petco. Entrance always looks super cluttered. (bunch of nasty used equipment laying around as soon as you walk in) they have a few nice employees over the years, but majority of the time its kids who have zero idea what they are doing and maybe have a little beta tank at home. Saltwater side of this store is a complete joke. maybe fresh is okay idk don't keep fresh and don't pay much attention when I walk in. owner maintains tanks for a living also, so kind of seems like this is a "side job" almost. Also never buy RODI/SALT water from them, filters rarely get changed and salt levels are never stable.

I absolutely love this store! You can tell just how much pride is taken in caring for these fish. Kevin and the other staff are always awesome to chat with and are incredibly knowledgeable, they're a great help whenever I have questions. Anything this store doesn't have I've always been able to order from them, and they have alot! Every time I go into the Aquarium Shoppe I get the chance to see or learn something new. At this point I've stopped using petco and petsmart entirely because this store is just so much better.

Would have said 0 stars on the lady working right now. In the store 10 minutes before an employee ever became visible. Not once asked for help. Then as I'm leaving she finally asks after getting done with whatever was more important on her phone. So I decided to try these guys again since I made the long trip up to look at fish in Springfield figured why not give them another try. Again big mistake this time the gentleman was in the back asked a question and he acted like I was an idiot. Would have bought some of the fish here had I known what they cost I actually saw a couple I wanted. Same issue he answered my question walk to the counter and got on his phone. I really wish I knew who owned or managed this shop because the service here is awful. Twice I've been in and employees phones were more important than helping customers. I really would like to know whose working when everyone receives the great service they speak of.

The shoppe has left a lot to be desired over the past year since I have begun this hobbie. The service is extremely lack luster and you are lucky to be even greeted. Have never seen the owner in the three dozen or so times I have been in. If I had my own RODI system I would have no need for the overpriced fish and lack of variety. I will vouch for lucky, he has always been attentive and helpful but as for the rest you may feel that you are a hindrance.

Always great experience here. We love the beautiful options. They have very friendly staff and you can't beat the price on fish. I was paying 5.99 a piece for little angel fish at pet stores and I just got them here for half that price. 🎉

I love this store! It's one of the only aquarium specialty stores in the area. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help. I always find what I'm looking for and sometimes a bit more. Their variety of fish is always impressive. They keep their fish healthy and their tanks clean.
