Although I agree that this store has a good selection of items, I really wouldn't call it a "dollar store." Only one aisle of the entire store is for $1 items, and the rest is normally priced drinks and soda. Overall I think this location is great for getting a quick snack in La Plata, but I expect deals on almost every item when I go to a dollar store. They didn't have that, which is why I can't give a 5-star rating.

I always wait for the sales throughout the year on things that I need weekly I get my chips, soda, candy, various other items that might be on sale including laundry detergent & most of the things you might need in a pinch. VERY CONVENIENT

So, as a blu-ray and digital video disc collector in the twenty-first century I have found that the place you will find the best deals are the places you would expect to find them the least. So color me surprised when upon entering the Dollar General in La Plata, Missouri, I found a copy of the 1995 film Leaving Las Vegas on blu-ray for the small sum of $4.95, a blu-ray which is currently out of print and can be somewhat pricey in some venues. It was a wonderful find and one that kept me smiling for the rest of the day and perhaps the rest of my life too.

The La Plata mall is everything you would expect and more! Conveniently located near the Depot Inn and a Casey's gas station, and not too far from the Amtrak depot.
