We got Bear through ODAS several months back. He is literally the best puppy! Open door actually takes care of and cares about each animals wellbeing. Great experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a new fur baby!

I've adopted three amazing animals from here throughout my life since I was 17. They really do their best to ensure all animals under their care are happy and healthy!

I know they’re going to hide this comment as well as they can, because that’s what I’m seeing with other comments. I started a job here a couple weeks ago and, while the animals are great, the work environment is awful. Rude coworkers, bosses, and a complete disregard for safety. My second day I was bitten by a dog that had already bitten two or more people before me. Now I understand I was working with animals, and it’s not the dogs fault whatsoever, but I got zero warning from other staff and they had me give him his food when he was known to be a reactive dog. He broke skin and bruised my knuckle but I came back the next day anyway. I had a coworker who blamed me for her mistakes (ex. A puppy drinking TOXIC mop water) and got away with it because I was a new hire. When trying to address the issue with a manager I was brushed aside. They complain about short staffing and yet no one wants to be there, awful environment, dangerous to staff, volunteers and animals. They are outwardly rude about adopters and actively try to avoid showing dogs to potential adopters. Miserable environment, way too many dogs with bite histories, and poor communication regarding the animals they are adopting out. I got fired after I called in sick “too late” and was given a no call no show. Don’t adopt dogs from here unless you are equipped to deal with a difficult dog and do not work here if you plan to be a human being. Completely heartless people, some staff are nice and seem to enjoy their jobs but the ones who don’t will make your life a living hell. BE CAREFUL if you come here to adopt work, etc. some of the animals are not safe.

It's good group of people trying to reach a goal no pet left unattended or without no cat or dog should be mistreated we domesticated them we should care for them. I spent about time out there donating time they need people to help and people to donate. Very clean I expected it to smell like a cat box it did not I was so overwhelmed so much to do so little to help. So help more people I did I feel good about it

Such a great experience. Not only are we getting a new doggy, they're going to neuter our current fur baby at the most excellent rate ever. There are so many animals that are looking for furever homes. Please go check them out! It will be worth your time!

I love any place that offers safety for animals but the customer service here is terrible. I got a cat from them several years ago and they were so sweet, they gave me a tour of the whole place and there were cats climbing all over the place. I went with my roommate so she could get a dog and they barely took the time to speak to us. I donated a large bag pf.dog.fpod several weeks later and I didn't even get a thank you. They just pointed to where to put it and that was it. They need to work on their customer service skills.

Thank you Open Door! We have loved two dogs that we’ve adopted from your wonderful facility. Our current is Winston (previously named Donner since he was adopted around Christmas) and he is celebrating his 9th birthday! Highly recommend finding your best friend at Open Door!!

I hate to be one to ever complain about this shelter because being a no kill alone is amazing. But I adopted a medium size dog that I have been visiting all week because he wasn’t ready due to being neutered. I absolutely fell in love with him. First they told me he was 2. Then at time of adoption I get told he’s 4? So I was under the impression he was 2. Then I was also told he does well around cats. I bring the sweet baby home (amazing dog otherwise) and he tries to violently attack my cat. If this was any form of concern it should’ve been expressed to me because they knew I had a cat. He also was itching himself SO terribly bad, along with his ears and crying like he may have had ear mites. I’m so upset about the whole situation and felt like I was totally ignored when I expressed how I felt. They gave me my refund receipt and didn’t say another word. Super disappointed:(

I recently adopted a cat from this amazing animal shelter, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The staff there genuinely cares for their animals, providing them with the love and attention they deserve. When I inquired about the cats, they were incredibly honest and helpful, making it a breeze for me to prepare for my new furry friend. Their dedication to the animals' well-being truly shines through, making it a top-notch place for pet adoption.

We've adopted 2 cats from them and got low cost spay/neuters for other animals. Not sure if they still do spay/neuters. But good folks, the animals are happy.

Super disappointed with how this company conducts business. We called after filling out the online form. They stated we could come in to see the dogs and hopefully pick one out that fit our family. We were excited! My two toddlers were extremely excited! We arrived, and it all seemed to go well…. At first. They said we had to wait to see the dogs because someone else was looking at them. No biggy. We then sat there for another hour without being able to visit with the dogs. So needless to say, we were getting aggravated. It got worse when we heard the employees talking to a family that had come in to adopt a dog as well. We overheard them saying that they would have to do a home visit before allowing them to take the dog….. I’ve adopted a few dogs in the past, and I have never heard this before. It just sounds extremely invasive. It’s not that I didn’t want them to see my home. It’s that I live in a 3 year old double wide trailer. It’s very nice, however, it could be very likely that they could send someone to visit my home, and that person could have a negative outlook on those who live in trailers, as many people tend to do. I get they’re trying to make sure that the animals are going to a good home, but people are judgmental and that could have an impact on whether or not my two toddlers get to have a dog that they took the time out to personally hand pick and rescue. The thoughts going through our heads were: “what if the person that comes, has a judgmental outlook on people who live in Mobile homes?”; “What if the person doesn’t like the park we live in?”; “What if the person doesn’t like the size of my yard?” Then they just rip the dog that my children just picked out, out from underneath them? How do you explain something like that to a child? It’s not okay. Not to mention, we wanted to take a dog home TODAY, not in a week and a half, after they did a home visit. All around, it’s just a strange, invasive, and obnoxious thing to do. There are plenty of other ways to make sure the dog is going to a good home. And they don’t involve making people wait a week and a half, with the possibility that you could get a judgmental Karen that may just rip that doggie you fell in love with, out from underneath you!Even that aside, we had discussed it and we were still going to try to go through with it. If it’s a dog we absolutely fell in love with, then it would be worth it.However, after an hour of waiting, an employee came in and said to the lady behind the counter, that there was NO more dogs being shown today, AFTER they told me on the phone that they stop showing the animals at 1:30, and it was 1pm. They nearly got cussed out for wasting our time for THAT long. All around they’re very unprofessional. In fact, when we stated that we wanted a medium breed dog, the girl behind the counter said “that may be a problem. Good luck I guess?” In a snotty tone. When half of their dogs on pet finder ARE medium breed dogs.I’m surprised these people are still in business with how unprofessional and rude they are. Not to mention the hoops you have to jump through. If I were you, go to a different shelter.

I love this place, such a wonderful place for homeless beings, giving them a 2nd chance. I have adopted over the few recent years 6 cats from here, my fur family pride !The staff is always friendly and helpful, the workers in the cat area spend quality time with the animals. You get with adoption , updated shots / micro chipping / and either spay or neutering, the animals get a little goodie bag with toys, collar and such, plus you get a bag of food, it’s a GREAT deal !!You get the reward of saving a soul and giving them a loving home, you get a new family member with lots of love to give in return. I love everyone of my fur babies, they are so grateful and loving .I adopted 4 females and two males, / 2 were just over a year old , the greet me every night when I get home, I was glad a co- worker recommended ODAS to me , when I got my first cat. From there never looked back………..THEY ARE SIMPLY AWESOME , I do not think you will be disappointed .

All in all a very positive experience. They do home checks before adopting which I think is awesome, they will take back any animal you adopt if need be, the price of $150 for a kitten includes all the shots, micro chip, and spayed or neutering. Many of the staff were there exclusively spending time with the animals. Very cool!

I only looked at the cats, but they have dogs, too. Area was clean and generally stink-free. You could tell the cats were well taken care of. Staff was generally friendly, but some are more knowledgeable/helpful than others. Adoption fees seemed reasonable, too.

i adopted blossom over a year ago & she was a very shy kitty at first and she still is (nothing wrong w it im shy too c: ) but she’s always been the sweetest since day 1. she takes a long time to warm up to new people but that’s okay since me and my bf of 8 years don’t really have people over often. blossom LOVES me and my boyfriend! she runs to the door when we get home, and will always hang out in whatever room we’re in. she LOVES her fancy feast meals as well as always available for her dry food (she’s not an overeater at all) she loves to play and lay in the sun by the sliding glass door and birdwatch. she’s also VERY sweet and cuddly. if she doesn’t sleep right next to me then she’s sleeping on a comfy throw blanket i put at the foot of the bed to make her bed more comfy. just wanted to update Open Door on Blossom! thank you guys again, we LOVE her SO MUCH! 🏻 adopt from Open Door!

Friendly people who love animals. We adopted our new senior best friend, Jack. I love that they have different areas/rooms for different types of cats. They are always cleaning, which is great.

The staff kept me updated and informed about the little kitten Betty Cooker that I had my eye on and then she got sick. They took the proper actions to help her. Betty Crocker in the 1st 2 pics. Tigress Puffin is the black kitten, Cheshire Guppy is the Gray Kitten with the blue collar.

This is a well managed operation. The animals are properly cared for, adequate space provided according to each animals individual needs and they keep their spaces clean. The dogs are walked daily and the cats have freedom to climb, hide and jump. The staff and volunteers are super friendly and make time to answer any questions and help you to find that perfect pet, without rushing you or acting as if they are being inconvenienced. Definitely the place to visit when considering a new furry addition to your family. 🐾💚🐾

Everyone was kind, willing to answer my questions, and they provided details about each dog that we were interested in adopting. I have so much respect for this no kill shelter and appreciate the fact that they do home checks!! We have now had our babies for a few weeks, and Rosie and Paisley are such a blessing to have in our home❤️PS: they do have their own bed but like to nap together once in a while

We tried adopting a cat from here. She was very sweet and a perfect angel for people. We had asked the shelter specifically for a cat that might get along with our current one, he is about 7 months old, declawed and up till now gotten along with other cats. They ASSURED us that this cat loved other animals. She did oookk... with our dogs, but outright stalked and attacked our 7 month old cat, even left a scar across his nose(she managed to pull one of her caps off her nails). We had to take this cat back, a cat that would have been perfect for a single cat family. When we brought her back, someone different "mentioned" that she was brought back BEFORE because she had attacked another cat.I understand that volunteers can't know everything about every animal, but that's just negligent. Now our kitten doesn't want anything to do with other cats because of them. Also they didn't seem to surprised when we brought her back and definitely didn't offer to refund the adoption charges. We were just lucky it didn't cost our little guy an eye.

Found a dog on side of road and brought her to this animal sanctuary. Lady told me she had no room and to leave the dog outside wherever I found her. Don’t go here! Does not care about the animals as they say they do. When arrived a room full of people standing around and you just hear dogs go crazy in their cages. Didn’t try anything to help at all just straight up said no she had no room and to drop the dog off the side of the road. 😡😡😤

They would not accept 2 tiny kittens that were dumped by my house. There were 4 empty cages in their office. They never accept any of the stray kittens. When you call they are always full. I was told if I could catch kittens and bring them there they would take them. She acted as if I were trying to dump my own kittens on them. I was crying.
