This is my personal opinion. They have the best pork steaks I have EVER ate! The brats are to die for. Their home made BBQ sauce is freaking delicious. Keep up the great work, you all!

I go here for all special occasion meats I need. The staff are so helpful! They offer recommendations, helpful cooking tips, and are always available to custom cut steaks to your desired thickness. I go primarily for steaks, and I’ve tried many varieties. The New York strip steaks are our favorite!! They also offer packaged steaks for gifting, which makes a wonderful Father’s Day gift. There are fun flavors of summer sausages we enjoy, great bacon, fresh bakery breads, and a huge array of meats in anything from small to very large sizes available. I prefer to patronize family owned businesses & if you are like me & tired of buying meat at typical big chain grocers, go here!!

First time here and went to look at some nice steaks. The meat was terrible looking. Some were black and miscolored, the other stuff was awful looking. Place smelled of spoiled meat and chemical deodorizer. Will never go back. Place is asking to get food poisoning.

I usually get Costco prime cut brisket. I tried John's Angus select and is the best brisket I have ever smoked.

John’s has all of your smoking needs covered. We tried their ground beef earlier this year with their smokehouse rub, now it’s the only place we go for meet. Very friendly staff!!!!

Went there today and got some brats and kabobs and some buns for the brats. Let me tell you I will not be going back again. They don’t have packaged dates or expiration dates on their stuff. The bread I got smelled horrible once I opened the packaging and the brats I cooked tonight was some spicy pork one and tasted like fish!!!! The guy who got out kabobs out of case used his bare hand and didn’t use gloves!!!! The staff is nice but nasty products.

Extremely nice and friendly people! The meat and spice selections are wonderful and the quality is so good! We come every week to try a new brat and grab some bacon! Definitely worth a trip for great food and a friendly experience!

Excellent meat quality. Made hamburgers and bratwurst on the grill for the Super Bowl with the meat from John’s butcher shoppe. It was the best burger I’ve had in a long time and cheaper than Walmart!!! Will definitely be back!

The staff is always very courteous and helpful. There are nice cuts of meat and they can get just about anything you'd like and cut it how you want. I've had many conversations with the staff and gotten educated on making my own ham or cooking brisket for a crowd of people. They are always more than happy to help. And the selection of brats is about as good and creative a selection that you'll find.

If you shop hear smell the meat BEFORE you buy it! We received spoiled turkey and ribs and the hamburger meat was very questionable.

The boss came from the back of the store to assist me in finding the necessary ingredients to smoke a turkey, and all the gentlemen in the store were very friendly and helpful. Seems like a normal experience, but those qualities are hard to find in retail these days.

If you're looking for that old school feel, go to this place I walk in and they're super welcoming. They have awesome cuts at a competitive price. I like walking into a butcher shop and having the butcher as interested in my cook as I am. Every time I walk in, Tom wants to know what I'm cooking and he goes to the back to cut me something fresh. Best cuts of porterhouse steaks, beef short ribs, tenderloin, and pork chops I've been able to find. Also, they have all kinds of bones and dehydrated stuff for your dog at super low prices

Me and my family travel from Jefferson City to get a good deal. Especially their BBQ sauce it's the best I've ever had. It takes us over two hours plus one way to get what we want. Worth it.

Very pleased with the beef I have purchased. The rib eye was well marbled and the filets were very reasonable and the quality was above prime . Over 200 brats .Thank you for being there .

I buy from John's whenever I'm in Festus. Usually I don't have problems. I bought pork chops and the next day they smelled rotten. I'm sorry but I'm never going back. When I went there that day, the shop smelled and I should've known. It's a shame but it used to be better

I have had to change where I buy my meat . I was checking the all the meats while picking up my order everything looked AMAZING fresh cut ..N that's also a Great Plus same Day I ordered I can pick up my oder..So tonight I'll be cooking ...I'm sure that I will be back. Another great thing is they have all boxed n ready and carry it out. They really friendly their to.

I'd give this place 5 stars but the freezer orders are always so poorly put together. Every time I ever get steaks in a freezer order they are aged. Or at least mostly aged and brown. When buying from a butcher shop I expect the meat to be fresh and this has been a huge let down as I've given them multiple opportunities to get this right.

Family owned small business specializing in a wide range of meat services. Beef, pork, and fish products are processed here on site with custom cutting a daily routine. Business has been here since mid 70s and is centered around customer service. Great people with a local store ease.

Best butcher shop in the area by far. I prefer the Festus location over the one in STL, and the meat is better than Kenrick's (and better priced). Shop local, get to know the crew--Tom is an absolute delight--and just enjoy what you eat knowing it is exactly what you hope it is. AND the meat isn't pumped full of water, so it doesn't shrink hardly at all after cooking!

I go out of my way to shop for quality steaks there in Seattle I would pay probably $75 at a steakhouse for the porterhouse I get from them. I would rate it as very good choice maybe not prime but I haven't tried their fillet yet.

My husband and I love this butcher shop. I have been coming here since I was little with my parents. The owner is very nice as well as his staff. The meat is always good and everyone is very helpful.

I am on kidney dialysis, and have to be super-aware of everything I eat. I have to be very careful when eating anything with added phosphorus, nitrates, potassium, or salt. So any meats that are pre-packaged or frozen, are mostly off-limits to me.The owner of John's Butcher Shop has assured me they don't add any of the preservatives I listed above, to their meats.I've been buying all my meats here for the past several months, and the results from my dialysis labwork have shown my numbers to be MUCH better than ever before! I attribute a lot of that to eating "healthy" meat with my meals.Oh, and they are always willing to help me with my portion sizes by making custom cuts to their meats, and individually wrapping them for me. You won't get that kind of service at any supermarket butcher shop, or discount grocery store.
