I was looking to establish care somewhere closer to home as I just moved recently. $80 for a rabies shot!? This office is absurd. I was told she could not get a rabies shot unless I paid a $47 “new puppy exam” fee on top of the vaccine and office visit fee. My pup is established at another vet and has even had surgery! (Ear crop) She doesn’t need an EXAM. she needed a rabies shot period. I walked out. Needless to say I’ll be driving to my other vet 1hr and 30min away to their “vaccine clinic” 6 days a week from 12-2 and pay $16 for the shot she needs! I always wondered why there is nobody in the parking lot at this office and now I am very well aware of why! I should have known right off the bat when I was asked if my dog was “mixed” with something BY 2 DIFFERENT PEOPLE that I was at the wrong vets office! She happens to be a very high quality European Dobermann grandsired by the IDC #3 red male in the world. Mixed…🤯 I will never set foot in this office again!

These guys are always the best. I appreciate their dedication and commitment to assisting animals. I like that they remember us when we come in, and the staff all gets along with my pets. They always get us in right away and assist us stay flea and tick free, healthy and wonderful.

The vet and his team are great. He is very knowledgeable with livestock, takes time to explain things, has a great sense of humor, and his staff is wonderful. His prices are comparable and I didn't have a long wait for farm call. Very pleased

They are like the farmers friend I never had. Every time there's an injury or even just a question, they are always there to help. I love that they now have texting ability so if it's not urgent I can ask a question and they can get it answered when they can. They treat all my animals with respect. And are the tough love when it comes to reality checks of farming.

Day 1 - my dog was attacked by another. Rushed her into Animal Clinic of Ava. They stitched and completely sealed the wound and sent her home with antibiotics. (I’m no vet/doctor, but I recently suffered a dog bite and was told they wouldn’t stitch to avoid infection.Day 2 - swelling and infection started to set in. She went 36 hours without urinating and eating. Took her back to Animal Clinic of Ava and was told she was fine. It was normal.Day 3 - she started to turn YELLOW!! Again, I’m no vet/doctor but common sense tells me yellow = infection of the liver. I called Animal Clinic of Ava and they told me again, she was fine and it was normal.Day 4 - she became lethargic. Still no urination, no bowel movements and not eating. I took her to a different vet for a second opinion. The new vet was appalled her wound was completely sealed. He removed the stitches to allow drainage. The wound was rotting and he drained so much infection from the area. He ran labs and learned her kidneys and liver was shutting down due to the infection. His exact words “I never like to throw a vet under the bus, but she shouldn’t have been stitched up like this”Day 5 - she lost her life from the infection.We are left heartbroken with a piece of our family missing. We called Animal Clinic of Ava to voice our frustration and was told they would return our call. We never received a phone call in return.How can we trust our animals with such poor judgement?!! I wouldn’t take a fly to Animal Clinic if Ava.

Our dog ran under our car as we were leaving the house. They were extremely busy doing an equine clinic but still took the time to look our dog over, X-ray his leg and get him the medication to take care of his injuries. This was our first visit and we are extremely pleased with how we were treated! Would definitely recommend.

They Spayed my dog on 7\14, on 7\24 I took her back in for swelling and irritation. Today I had to take her back in for pain, swelling, and irritation. They lied to me when I set up the appointment and told me that any follow-up appointments (related to the spay) would be free (minus the cost of mediation and testing), yet today they charge me for the visit. Get this, in their own words: "The swelling and irritation is a hormonal result of the spaying, and not related to the spay." In the same sentence the contradict themselves, these guys are crooks! They still didn't seem very confident in their excuse...I mean "diagnosis." Needless to say, I am telling everyone I know to steer clear of these murderous thieves. They only want money, not to help animals.

Dr Peters saw my cat on Saturday and answered all of my questions. He was able to put us at ease and treat her when she didn’t have an appointment.Dr Knickmeyer is phenomenal. She saw both of my dogs today and is so amazing. She answered all of my questions and went out of her way to make my dogs feel comfortable. I highly recommend her!

They only care about money not the animal.I had an appointment for my dog for a raw spot she kept licking on her paw. They demanded to do a physical exam on her. I told them it wasn’t necessary but they didn’t listen. My dog is shy around new people and will growl a little but nothing more. The vet never did the exam but got charged $46 for the exam. I asked why did I get charged for a service I didn’t receive. They said they were afraid of touching my dog thinking she would bite them. I told them I want my money back or they do the service I was charged. They refused the refund saying it’s protocol to give physical exams no matter the circumstances. So they did the service but found out they muzzled my dog for no reason. So I ended up getting charged $104 to just be told to give my dog Benadryl and put a sock on her foot. Never going there again especially if they charge you $22 for a phone call and $46 for a physical that was never needed in the first place. They are just trying to milk you out of every penny you got.

Great care and reasonable prices. Very helpful in helping us get 4 strays spayed, neutered, shots, treated for parasites, ear mites, etc. Additionally, kept them over an extra day when our car broke down, and helped us (both disabled) tote them to and from the car. Very good service and seems to like and care about cat's. Something, that sadly, we haven't found much of in our area of MO. Highly recommend them for your pet care, 👍.

I don't even know where to start. I give this clinic 10 stars but only have option for 5 stars. I knew Dr. Peter's would know what to do. I been going to him for several years as well as my mother. Dr. Peters has never given me a reason not to trust him when it come to my furry friends. There is a reason why I drive all the way from Ozark MO to see this Dr. I trust him. My dog, Cody was very sick and because Dr. Peters stated that he needs to go for IV fluids I listened to what he stated and Cody would not been alive if it wasn't for him to direct me back to Ava. Than Dr Beth took care of my boy after that and I am so relieved that she did such an amazing job getting him better. He is like a completely different dog from what he was last few days. Dr Peters made it affordable for me to get him well and Dr Beth, bless her, took good care of my little buddy. So, with that said everyone is entitled to their beliefs on this animal clinic whether good or bad. For me, Dr Peters and Dr Beth ARE THE BEST vets I've ever had and they deserve 5 stars and more. Thank you, Ava animal clinic for helping Cody feel better and helping me to afford it.

Took my dog in due to a rash and itching. 3 appointments and $500 later there was no results. Took her to another vet and in one visit the rash has cleared up and no more itching. New vet diagnosis was fungal infection treated with a fungal shampoo. Very disappointed with the vets at Ava

I strongly recommend you do not use this facility. The staff is careless and Dr. Peters and the rest of the vets are greedy and do not accept responsibility for their actions.I took my 8 month old lab to get spade and she would barely get up and eat for almost 2 weeks post surgery. She got an infection around the incision (internally) and her whole stomach was deeply bruised. I took her back into the vet office to show them what they did and they did not take any responsibility for their actions. They sent me home with more pain medicine and antibiotics and said she would be fine, just need more time to heal. To top it all off, I get a bill a month later saying I owe them for the medication that they gave me for my dog! I called and asked why they charged me for their mistakes during surgery but they deny any responsibility for their actions. I gave them every opportunity to make things right, but they still demanded payment for the medications... greedy.After the surgery and my concern with my dog, I told me neighbor about what was going on and she told me that they almost killed one of her 2 year old dogs a few years ago. Her dog was dying, they thought, and they took it up there but Dr. Peter's staff was just going to euthanize it. My neighbor said no and took the dog to Springfield. They figured out it's condition and treated the dog appropriately. The dog is still alive today.I have had many animals spade and have never had any animal not be back to normal within 1 or 2 days. I will make sure I do my part to share my story with all I know. Take your animals elsewhere if you can, it's worth the drive. I have since been using a different vet about 45 minutes away and have a completely positive experiences to share about them.

Hands down the best vet we have ever used. They truly car about your animals. Their prices are fair. They have every service you could need. A good selection of special diet and normal food. Over the counter meds and supplies are available for livestock. And they seriously have the best price on monthly heart worm, flea, and tick control. They have gone above and beyond to make our move to Alaska through Canada and easy process. I'm going to be sad not to have them up there and can only hope to find a vet half as good.

Staff was very friendly. I took my rabbit in, and the Dr. We seen was very sweet to him and helpful in answering all of my questions. The price I was charged was incredibly fair, and lower then other places I was looking to take my rabbit. We will definitely be using this vet clinic from now on. It was worth the drive from Hartville to Ava.
