Stopped in for lunch on our way down from Winnipeg. The homemade bread was delicious and the fries were perfectly crispy. It has a real small town feel and we didn’t get any of the ‘strangers not welcome’ vibes that other reviewers noted.Thanks for a great place to eat!

I was visiting from Florida, went to near by school to meet someone there, and on the way back we stopped here for lunch. Staff were nice, good food, and Ms. Terran (not sure if I got this name correct) who is cook and owner of Cafe.Please take a minute to walk around in restaurant, you may find something amazing you haven't seen (Antique).Very nice place to stop.

1st Time Experience,Felt Very At Home. You can Tell The Owner has Put Her Heart into every detail.Friendly People. While waiting for Lunch, it wasn't hard to stir up conversation With Locals. Great Coffee, Fantastic Burgers, With what I can only assume was Fresh baked, and toasted Buns. I could have eaten the Bun Alone, and been Happy. It was served with Homemade Coleslaw, and the Fries were Crisp, Golden, mwah.The menu has a Large selection of Comfort Foods, Perfect For warmingOne up. And A selection on the Lighter Side. My eye Caught The Fresh baked Pie, but I was much too full. I Look Forward to trying other things, It Was A Wonderful Blessing, and Though a Distance for us, We will definitely be coming Back Soon.

The server there was not happy to be working that day. The food was fantastic but the service was very poor. It felt like once we walked in, it was a nuisance that we were there. It is also a place that you need over an hour to kill because it is a very long wait to get from sitting down, ordering, and getting the food out. I hope that it was just a rough day for that server cause she did a disservice for the cooks because the food is great but she made it to where we will never go back.

Best home cooking in the county! Burgers can't be beat...served on fresh, Homemade buns! Tina always has a smile and kind words for all her diners. It is definitely worth the drive. Check out the "buy and go" home baked breads, cookies, caramel and cinnamon rolls, etc. And she usually has made - from scratch, pies for dessert too!! You will find many antique and vintage items for sale inside the cafe. You can do a little shopping while you're waiting for your delicious food. Everything is very reasonably priced.

Excellent food but not very welcoming environment. The burgers were incredible, along with the homemade buns and bakery items. But it has a "locals only" vibe. People kept looking at us and whispering things, and the waitress was a little cold. Who knows, maybe she was just having a bad day. But we definitely felt like we didn't belong there.

We had a large group, staff worked hard to keep up with requests, food was great, homemade! Atmosphere was nice, a corner was setup with a piano, children's books and toys. Great entertainment for kids.Thank you!Parking: On street parking, big off street parking lot.Kid-friendliness: Play area for kids, activities for kids, patient servers. And there is a playground through the alley!!!

Great friendly place- we were desperately in search of fresh brewed iced tea, pouring down rain, and we found Shining Light- ladies working were so sweet, gave us glasses of tea to go. Wish we could have stayed for lunch. It was a wonderful smell of food inside! Thank you for helping us!

This was an unexpected treasure for a group of hungry hikers. The Reuben is amazing, with no fat on it and very generous. Service was friendly and everyone enjoyed their meals. It is very fun to look around at the collections and they have some nice local items for sale. The restrooms are really fun!

Shining Light Cafe is a gem in Northern Minnesota. The service there was phenomenal and the food was fantastic. My Reuben was made extra special because of the homemade bread. The hostess was able to accommodate our request to sit outside and she even gave our dog a bucket of water, which he gladly gulped down. Our server was highly knowledgeable of the area and the menu and she was extremely friendly and bubbly. I am so glad that we stopped at the Shining Light Cafe during our trip through Northern Minnesota. I highly recommend this charming restaurant.

Stopped in here on the way home from our girls fishing weekend at Red Lake. Amazing food! Friendly service. Will absolutely be back next time in the area. Bought a loaf of homemade bread and homemade caramel rolls on my way out along with a cute antique teapot. Thanks for the amazing hospitality!

Just had a delicious fish dinner! The meal started with a dinner salad, then 2 huge cracker breaded fillets, perfectly baked potato and home-made wheat bun. THEN a piece of lemon meringue pie to finish it off! Wonderful meal and such a reasonable price! Great service and atmosphere!
