The room that we were assigned the bed frame was falling apart. The bathroom door had a huge dent in it from the door swinging open and hitting the bathroom shelf. I was told these were things the hotel already knew about. I was also told that if they can't clean up the room in 30 minutes we would get charged an extra cleaning fee. We left the rooms fairly spotless and even helped them out a bit by taking care of our garbage and pulling off sheets that were wet. This is a terrible hotel. We were charged an extra 400$ not knowing what the charge was from.

Dripping faucet had a disgusting slime glob hanging out of it. Needs repair. Bed was comfy. Not fancy but comfortable. Customer service was excellent.Walkability: Near a couple of bar / restaurants and a holiday convenience store.

I own a small delivery business and had a load going to Riverton. I made a reservation on 11/27/23 at 11:43am and paid in advance so that my driver would have no issues and could just check in and get a good nights sleep. The load had canceled due to size increase and I called at 1:56pm to cancel the reservation and request a refund. The employee said he would have to get manager approval and would call me as soon as he had information. Today 11/29/23 I called to check the status of the refund and was told the manager would not issue a refund as it was a same day cancellation. I expressed that my feelings of that being bad business but got nowhere with that. I wish I had read some of the other reviews before even making that reservation let alone paying in advance. I know that in the future I will NOT be doing any business with Country Inn Deerwood and plan on making a call to corporate to make a formal complaint. I would strongly not recommend ever planning a stay at this place.Update: I filed a complaint with the BBB and they never received a response and I never received a refund. I understand the same day cancellation policy but a cancellation within 2 hours I don't understand. Had I not paid in advance they would not have gotten the money in the first place (my mistake). If you plan on staying at this hotel I would definitely recommend reading all the reviews and AVOID it.

The hotel is not new. Our room had a musty smell the pullout couch had dirty sheets the bathroom shower had a missing handle. The pool was very dark. It only has a few small lights around the edge of the room. Overall the bed was comfortable and I didn't have to drive all the way home so it served its purpose. Will I come back? Maybe. I would check out other hotels first.

Rooms were not completed. Had many ladybugs (20+) in the room. Windows so dirty could hardly be seen through. Desk man was helpful and accommodating as best he could.Will stay farther out of town to stay in a nicer place.

NOT TRUSTWORTHY!! The stay was okay but odd smell in the building and terrible service that ruined the experience. The owner of this hotel does not ensure all staff is trained properly and they won’t refund you when the staff makes mistakes. I called to cancel a night from my 2 night reservation and the employee said that worked just fine and they did that for me. When I arrived, I was told that my reservation just got moved to 2 different nights and I still got charged for both! After I got there! Then the owner becomes impossible to reach and procedes to tell his employees that he won’t give a refund for a mistake one of his employees made. I get everyone makes mistakes but I don’t train these employees so I expect that what they’re telling me is the truth. Terrible communication and service with no regard for customers. They just want your money.Noteworthy details: Not trustworthy. Owner is out for your money and doesn’t care about providing honest service.

Overall, it is a good place to stay for your money. Building is a little rundown and old, so don't expect anything fancy. Bed was more comfortable than some pricier hotels that I've stayed at. The staff was really friendly and kind. The only issue I had was that the smoke detector must've run out of batteries and woke me up an hour and a half earlier than I was planning.

We were looking for a place to stay last minute on our way back from southern Minnesota. We were traveling as a family of 4 adults, 4 small children, and a service animal; We could not have had better customer service from Courtney. She took the time to show us different available rooms, while she was still answering multiple phone calls and accomodating other guests, with ease. Courtney was very personable and kind and interacted with our children that were quite rambunctious to say the least; She handled the situation like a pro.Michael (Mike), was another 5 star employee. He went above and beyond and could not have been more kind and understanding. We all have worked in hospitality so we fully understand how challenging it can be. The Country Inn (Deerwood) have excellent employees and we would recommend staying there to anyone. We will definitely stay there again when in the area.Thank you Micheal and Courtney!You made our trip more memorable.

For the price, this was a nice place. Room was clean and beds were comfy on our most recent stay, but I will note we've had a few incidents here in the past (many years ago...I've stayed here several times as family lives nearby) where non-smoking rooms smelled like smoke that they had poorly attempted to cover up. We didn't use the pool or exercise room on our most recent visit. Cozy feel to this place. The continental breakfast had fewer options than other places I've stayed, but still had breads, muffins, pre-packaged hard-boiled eggs, cereal, and yogurt.

If you like mold or mice perfect place, I was staying here last night horrible service except for the night lady very sweet old lady but the new girl and the guy who was working the counter were rude and very disrespectful, I had a allergic reaction to mold in the room somewhere and that's just the beginning I asked the owner if I could get a refund and he said he couldn't do it without the manager who wasn't there and wasn't answering and then when I decided I couldn't stay any longer because of my throat I wanted to leave and he then stated he called her and she said no and wouldn't allow me to contact her like dude your the owner give refunds if you can't keep a hotel up to Date as well as loud noises all night pool was closed because the lights "didn't work" and the soaps were open hair everywhere mildew smell like badly and the TV channels didn't even work honestly never staying again and the owner was a douche trying to make it my fault while saying over the phone while booking we could cancel at anytime! They are lucky they're getting a 1 star cuz I'd put zero if I could im gonna contact the local health department

Very nice people and clean rooms... Unfortunately the owner is cheap and keeps the place outdated with the key system from 1974, the front desk was not only cleaning rooms, they were on the front desk and asked very nicely not to leave the key in the room because they only had so many left lol.Laundry is a department of its own and when running a hotel you need to know all the professional ins and outs. My wife happens to run a 5 start hotels facility here in Tucson. She noticed the pillow case was clean but had blood stains (this is a hasmat issue, they should have never been used again) and was thrown in a normal washer (they do not have Industrial washers and dthere's that get to temperatures of over 150-200 degrees to sterilize things properly).The shower sucked, busted head on the shower making like it had prostate cancer spraying out all around you (gotta turn the head to get the best water angle lol).Overall the place had a nice pool area (didn't use it to give a full opnion but it looked nice). It was very clean and the ladies I saw in the middle of the night where sweeping and keeping it clean, you can tell it's the good workmenship that keeps them running or that place would fall apart being outdated so badly . In fact, it's the workmanship of the employees that distract the fact the place actually sucks as far as advancement and proper equipment to maintain it. Not to mention over worked, under staff (The lady checking me in had to clean most of the rooms).It is much cheaper than the place down the street, and both of them are locally owned and operated, stayed at them both and like this place more.Sorry I forgot to drop off the plastic keys (kept them both on accedent) maybe you'll have to upgrade your system now 😉Food & drinks: Great breakfast set up for a outdated hotel

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Calling this a Country Inn is deceptive. It is not part of the Country Inn and Suites. We were extremely dissappointed with the room and left the hotel immediately. This hotel has refused any type of refund and does not respond to us. Stay away.

This past weekend Jill and I thought it might be fun to stay in a hotel to use their jacuzzi. We arrived at the Country Inn Deerwood only to find out that the jacuzzi was broken. The jacuzzi was the only reason went there! I even called the week before to make sure it was working! But that wasn’t the end of it. The ceiling in our room was filthy. The fridge made an awful noise. The hotel ice machine was broken so we had to run to Holiday for a bag of ice. The mattress was so uncomfortable that neither one of us was able to sleep. We went to the lobby to see what they had for breakfast. White bread, English muffins, bagels, waffles, and some unknown cereal. No butter, no cream cheese or jelly, no syrup. Half a pitcher of stanky looking orange juice.We asked for a refund but it was denied.We will never return nor will we recommend this garbage dump calledCountry Inn Deerwood.I encourage all my friends to share this post. Hopefully they will see this and correct their ways.

I had a friend come from out of town. We thought it would be nice to stay here because they have a pool. Terrible place! First thing, they wanted to charge $30 for early check in of 20 minutes. She waited outside, then 5 minutes later they said no charge. No paper towels or dryer in public restrooms, clerk rude when asked for towels, told to use kleenex. Public areas had no AC, hot and smelly. Ice machine didn't work. Towels in the room were thin and frayed, no washcloths. All this for $189 Friday and $199 Saturday. For an old outdated place, rooms smelled like mildew... DO NOT STAY HERE!

To start it all off there was a basketball team there 10-13 year olds that was tuning up and down the halls till past 10pm. My room was not clean by any means there was food and drinks lift in the mini fridge the bar soap was opened on the floor and it was used. And to wrap it all up there was a blue stain on my bed and after taking the sheets off and looking at the mattress and mattress pad it was stained blue as well so the sheets never got changed. And the person I talked to never even apologized of offended to fix the issues will never be back

Rooms are small but good enough to sleep in if you enjoy sharing it with spiders. Pool room also filthy and full of cobwebs along the floor walls. The girls at the front desk were constantly on their cell phone with their feet up. The breakfast was nothing more than a few slices of bread and some donuts. Hardly what is pictured on the advertisement. Not to mention there was blood smeared on the wall in the hallway. Wouldn't stay here again!

We came up for a family gathering and planned to stay 4 nights but something came up and we had to leave a day early. The manager refused to give us a refund and even I asked to speak with the manager she refused to talk to me! 😡The room has a terrible musty smell the whole time we were there. The ice machine was broke and they would give you a small bag of ice if you asked for it. They wouldn’t come in and clean the room or change the towels if you stayed multiple nights. You had to take your towels to them to change out the towels. The breakfast they served was a joke! It was a horrible place to stay and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone! Beware if you plan on staying there!!

First of all, Hope was a VERY NICE person!! It wasn’t her fault that she had limited resources (quality motel rooms) to work with.I came, went to room 218. No remote for the tv. Then she moved me to room 214. The key did not work. Got a new key. Walked in. Smelled musty and old and it didn’t have a coffee maker. Went down again to say I couldn’t stand the smell. She gave me room 213. Very good. Went to Continental breakfast. Coffee was good. But I had a toasted bagel with cream cheese. I ate one bite. No taste. Spit out the bite and went to a restaurant for breakfast. Never again!

I showed up for my reservation and asked if I could check in, the lady at the front desk checked and confirmed my room was ready. She then informed me that there would be an addition $30.00 early check in fee. It was 1:00 pm, check in is at 3:00 pm AND my room was ready. So I went golfing.This only happened to me once before and that was in Vegas which I have never returned to that hotel. Quite the policy in a small town. What they really need here is some competition.Rooms are clean but very dated (big heavy stained comforters that look like the have never been washed) . Rooms are small with little room for luggage. Only game I town…….I will drive to Brainerd next time.

BEWARE, NOT PET FRIENDLY!!! Only dog friendly. We drove up from St. Louis. My husband made the reservations and did not realize that pet friendly does not always mean they will let you bring a cat. So we pull in late and my husband was dismayed, because it was late and they would not let us bring our cat in. Left the kitty with some friends for that evening, but never again. On to Brainard were honest folk advertise pet friendly and stand by it. Also most of the base of the shower handle was sticky with soap scum. Yuck.

I called made reservations for two nights, three adults. I checked in everything was fine. The room was set up for two people. Went to front desk ask for more towels for the third person. Nothing was said about the third person. On the 2nd day the three of us returned after having supper, I got a phone call from the owner asking how many people were staying in the room and how old every body was. I told the gentleman our ages, his reply was that there was going to be a charge for the third person. I refused, and explained That I stated when I made the reservation it was for three adults. He said he needed to check into. I was not charged extra.The did not have room service during our stay.

The room we booked with our family was smoked filled, we had to be switched. The other room was a better smelling one for sure. The pool was nice, however there was a bunch of sand in the hot tub. After the pool we had our kids shower then that's when I noticed a couple towels were more yellow than the others. I didn't complain about this I just set them aside. We slept well. Food was descent. My big issue was when we left. I won't go into a huge story here, but let's just say the management is a joke. Don't expect to get honest answers. I have stayed here a couple other times before but after this eye opening experience we will never be back.

When I arrived the receptionist assumed I canceled my room through Expedia. This wasn't true and then said it would be an hour before getting a room. Check-in was at 3 and rooms still not ready at 7pm when I arrived. 3 other parties were also waiting for their reserved rooms while the one receptionist ran around the entire hotel cleaning rooms like a whipper snapper...as she was the only staff in the entire hotel.. We ended up leaving and she did state she could refund our money but dang if you don't have the employees your going to have to limit your guests too.

Their rooms smell musty! Was not a pleasant smell makes one worry about mold and mildew which is not good for humans. Manager refused to give a refund as we had to leave a day early do to a family emergency. I will not ever stay here again nor would I recommend it a place to stay. Ice machine was broke down, no air conditioner in front lobby, I feel sorry for people who work there.

Giving 3 stars is being generous. Definitely not a $250/night room. Microwave is very outdated and probably a safety hazzard in today's standards. The refrigerator has mold growing in it. The bathroom floor has long dark hair on the floor. (I have very short brown hair and my niece has long blonde so it isn't ours.)But I am thankful to have found a room since everything was booked. Not sure I will return if in this area again.

The manager here is amazing. The owner is working on upgrading the hotel. The breakfast during the week is slim, the usual fare on the weekends. Our beds were comfy, room was clean. The Deer Stand is in walking distance, great place for food/drinks.
