Typically we love stopping here on our visits to Pictured Rocks, this trip may have been our last. No greeting when we walked in, lady was on a stool facing the opposite direction, simply asked if they had coffee, she responded ever so rudely and said “no, not this time of day” it was 11 AM. When one of our party walked out the door, she said “well good day to you too” as if they had done something wrong. They also have two food trucks outside, in which the person inside also is running. We wanted to get the boba tea and coffee, but there was no way we were going back inside to get her to serve us. So unfortunate, as we loved this quaint little place before.

Always a destination stop during the snowmobil season . But I have to update you, so the last few times were where there got the place, had a bunch of puppies caged of in side and it stunk bad! And she put a sing on the wall that says if you don't know how much fuel you got, there will be a $75 dollar up charge per sled ! Also, fuel prices were $3.00 higher than anyone in the area ! And as soon as you walk in her store she starts hollering shout the dor shout the day very very rude lady will get fuel somewhere easy from now on. I don't like leaving a bad review for anyone, but this one had to be let out !

Rudest lady I've ever met. I really wanted to like this store. It's cute. Lots of goodies. BUT....Over priced gas, she thinks regular unleaded is worth the same as rec fuel.I bought lottery tickets yesterday, today I started scratching them and the ticket scanner on the app says ticket prize is expired so I flipped it over. These lottery tickets expired OCTOBER 5TH 2021 😳😳😳 and to top it all off while trying to call her this morning,1st she yelled why we were calling at 830am when she opens at 82nd she lied when I asked if this was the general store. She said no n hung up and refuses to take my phone call.I don't understand the reasoning behind scamming people outta their money. If you can't afford to live up there. Then maybe you should move or just not have a business?!?!?!

Stopped in a week or so ago and had a nice conversation with the owner. She's a hoot! And I really appreciated her honest opinions on the area. Thanks! Also, the store is well stocked. I'll definitely stop back in on my next trip up!

4.2/5 StarsNice little general store. They have a good selection of stuff. If you are caught in a pickle you can get gas also. I just wanted to but some jerky for 6.99$ but you have to spend a minimum of 10$ otherwise you get charged 2.50$ so that was inconvenient.... but I understand.

Great convenience and WONDERFUL staff.We we're camping in the area and rushed here after a hike that took longer than we planned. With no signal we couldn't look up hours or call the store and needed some items and firewood.We got to the store around 730pm on a Sunday evening. We saw someone coming out as we pulled up and thought it was a good sign they were open, so we went in. The lady running the store was nice and friendly and we find out as we go to check out that she closes at 6pm. She got held up with customers and was the closing the registers and just putting in her orders after 6 but didn't get to locking the door. We we're apologetic and she was not worried or upset and reopened her register system to check us out. We got to talking about all other sorts of things and it was genuinely a nice conversation and she helped us out big by not choosing to turn us away.The store had fuel, firewood, beers and other food and general supplies. If we ever camp back up in that area the. We'd certainly stop by again to pick up some items.

During our recent visit to the area we stayed in one of the cabins here. It was very clean and comfortable. We visited the store on several occasions for anything from ketchup, hand scooped ice cream, and beer, to snacks and a forgotten beach towel. Each visit was very pleasant and the shop owner was always making sure we had everything we could need. We left with a million awesome memories and some souvenir t shirts. We will be staying and shopping here whenever we get to the area for sure. Top notch service that is hard to find.

The woman who owns/runs this place is very brusk and has strong opinions about various sociopolitical issues. This would be fine if she wasn't offensive. Also, as a customer, I do not need to know how/why she was so short staffed. This should not be foisted upon any customer. The products were varied, interesting and good, albeit overpriced.

I’ve never been yelled at by a store employee for picking up a sandwich to look at it and setting it back down until I visited this store. Hateful, abrasive, rude. I regret buying the sandwich but there are not many options in this area.

The lady was really put off by my arrival to her store. I asked her for some help and she told me what does that have to do with her. I asked if I could borrow some internet to quickly check to location of my lost phone, she told me no. Luckily the nice people down the road at the Bear Trap were way more friendly and I was able to resolve my issue. I cannot recommend this place and would not refer anyone to go there and be subject to her indifference

We went snowmobiling with 11 guys. Arrived to her gas station basically running on fumes, she was closed… we were very nervous because there are no gas stations within 25 miles. She was washing dishes in the back and re opened the store just as she was about the leave! Saved out rear ends.

Terrible customer service, and extreme price gauging! beware! Stopped here after hiking Chapel Rock, immediately noticed how rude the woman working the counter was to another customer. Then she proceded to be very short with me when I asked her a question.. Please do yourself favor and drive 7 minutes down the road to Robinson's grocery store. I made the drive after leaving this place and the staff was friendly, they had a better selection, and the prices were fair.

Excellent baked goods, homemade pasties, and a food truck this winter for us snowmobilers along with gas! Owner is super friendly and has opened up just for us to get gas when needed. Also has cabins for rent, full groceries, clothing, and decent hardware stuff too! SUPER PLACE!!!

Great selection! Conveniently located on border of park. There when when you come off trail and are ready for an ice cream cone or beer. So many great food items, etc. A little gem in the middle of nowhere! Kind of pricey, but not considering its size and location. Worth the convenience.

I moved to munising in August and the community up here has been amazing and helpful. Today (Easter Sunday) I realized I didn't have the wood chips needed to smoke the meat for Easter dinner and began calling around to see who might be open and have what I'm looking for knowing full well it may be a shot in the dark. When I called melstrand I was greeted with a very abrupt hello. I asked if it was said business and if they were open today very politely and the woman was as rude as possible informing me it was Easter and that no one is open and it is a day for families. I was so taken aback this woman could not have been less Christian in a day Jesus rose from the dead to a person who was just inquiring about their business. Munising and it's surrounding areas are a great community full of warm people willing to help one another and treat each other like neighbors unfortunately the owners of melstrand do not fit this description. If you want to support the community and people who care go elsewhere a. To to the owners if they choose to read this I'll pray for you and just a tip maybe don't answer the phone if the business is closed especially if you're not going to update your posted hour just a fairly common policy. All I was trying to do was make dinner for my family and only to be met with hostility on a holy day of obligation.

Wonderful little gem in the middle of the forest! Great choices in alchohol, delicious and unique snacks, ice cream, some groceries, and hot food to go!! They also sell gas, propane, and ice while offering boat rentals, dog boarding, and hot showers. Staff was very nice and we were pleasantly surprised by there diverse products. Fabulous place to stop and take a break while enjoying the lakeshore.

We stopped by after hiking chapel falls for refreshments and ice cream. The attendant at the store was rude to my family. We left the store, drove a few miles and found ice cream shop that was friendly, clean and helpful.

Returned a life jacket, never was refunded. Crabby old lady clerk was visibly upset and when returned it. I called 9 days later to ask why my bank statement hasn't refunded me the purchase, I was brushed off. Poor customer service. Bathroom was shutdown. I recommend trying a general store where decency is displayed.

A little bit pricey due to being in the middle of nowhere. Lots of local, and Michigan Pride schwag, and great coffee. Moderate selection of liquor and beer. Lactose-free dairy products. Rifle ammunition shotgun ammunition, live bait, and fishing tackle, for all you hunters and fishermen.
