We visited Ron’s after Christmas and before the new year . Tried the classic pasty 16 oz . It was a lot of pasty!! The filling was fabulous. Definitely made to perfection. We also muffin and apple fritter but I was too full to taste it at the restaurant. It is peaceful and quiet . Beautiful scenery. Highly recommended it.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp.

I'm not from the area (I'm from Illinois), so I didn't know what to expect here. Needless to say, I was very pleased with the food, especially the breakfast pasty. We stayed up here in Houghton for a few days to check the area out, and we came across this place. We came here not just once, but twice, because the first day, they were out of breakfast pasties. Because they were out, we opted for some breakfast sandwiches with bacon. It almost blew my mind how savory it was when I took my first bite. We also grabbed some pastries each day, just to be safe. I absolutely loved the apple fritter and the cherry turnover. On the second day, we managed to snag some breakfast pasties, and oh my, were they delicious. So delicious. You have to come in early for them, though, because coming in at 9 am is too late to get your hands on them!Thank you for having us. We'll be sure to come back in the future!

Loved this place! I do my research but found this place solely by chance. Pulled down a road for a photo opportunity on the way up to Copper Harbor and we discovered a tasty spot with a very awesome view.

They were out of the Turkey Cranberry pasties but was able to get a chicken and broccoli. It was good. But the Strawberry Rhubarb Bar was delicious. Also the Salted Caramel Cookie is not too shabby especially if you warm it slightly. Busy place but great parking and tables right on the water if you would like to eat outside. The Asiago, garlic, herb bread is yummy too.

I made the mistake of going near the end of the day, and they were sold out of fresh pasties so I ended up getting some frozen to take home and I have to say they were some of the best I have ever had. Full of flavor and filling. Went back a few days later and picked up a few to bring back home and also got a wild berry pie that was delicious. We will be back next year when we vacation near Copper City.

I consider myself a traditionalist when it comes to pasties and the ingredients used, and Roy's traditional pasties are really yummy, with an excellent crust. However a friend convinced me to try Roy's"pasty with a kick", and boy I'm glad I did! The little kick of spicy heat and flavor from jalapenos and hot sauce are just right, and not overpowering. I highly recommend both!

We’re currently on a van life road trip from California to Michigan and we just made it to Michigan! We camped nearby and saw this pastie spot. I’ve tried pasties in the past and wasn’t a big fan but the restaurant looked lovely from the outside so I decided to give it a try- glad I did because this one was way better.I ordered a vegetarian pastie and my partner ordered a turkey cranberry pastie. Both were very good. I definitely am glad we got water with them because it made me thirsty. Also ordered a cinnamon roll with maple frosting on top.Definitely recommend if you’re in the area to stop by :)

Busy time when we were there as there were Nordic and alpine ski events happening in town and by late afternoon some menu items were sold out so go early if you want something specific! The staff recommended alternatives and we had plenty of food and enjoyed it much. Chili was too spicy for kids taste but very good, pasties we had were all great and even good later eaten cold after a round of skiing. Place is tidy and clean, always busy but we found seats each time. Highly recommend at least picking up food while passing through town but an easy stop and quick meal if you have time to sit.

Best pasty I've had in a while!! Also, we got a donut and croissant as well, both of which were incredible!!I got a Bismark donut, and the filling was amazing- not your normal filling- go try it!!My husband's croissant was literally the best croissant I've ever tried- so light and airy. Also, the staff were super kind and friendly. Not a long wait, and a nice area to sit and enjoy your scrumptious food!

Excellent, authentic Cornish pasty! After touring the Quincy mine, and wondering about life for the Cornish miners in the mid 1800s, it was a treat to taste what they ate for their daily lunch. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a good variety of beautiful baked treats. We split a meat pasty -- it weighed a whole pound! -- on the deck overlooking the water and the lift bridge.

Outstanding, 5 solid starts. If you come to UP for the real pasty, this is the best you can find the original classic ones, buy also some tastier variations. This bakery does also a great job on donuts and tarts. I definitely recommend it to anybody passing in the area.

Dark chocolate tort. Looks great and tastes phenomenal 😋. Would go here again for sure. I wanted to try their pasties so I will be back.Edit:I went back recently, and decided to try a pastie. I tried a not so traditional one. It was the chicken and broccoli one, and oh my goodness, it was absolutely great!!

ABSOLUTE HALL OF FAME MEAL. We went back a second time on the way out of town. Phenomenal bakery. The pasties were fresh and stuffed with outstanding ingredients. A MUST VISIT.

Roy's is one of the best places to eat in the area. Many people talk about their pasties, which are good, but honestly I personally think that is one of their weaker points. Finding a good pasty in the area is easy and you have many options. Where Roy's absolutely shines is in their soups and sandwiches. The soup changes regularly and they are all top-notch. My personal favorite is the "Roasted Red Pepper Gouda" soup. But they are all very good, especially during the winter. Best place for a bowl of soup in the Keweenaw I have found so far.Sandwiches are in the same vein. They are all great with some familiar faces, and some unique offerings. My favorites are the "hot Italian beef" and "the Superior". But I have not been disappointed by anything else I've ordered. The worst part is sometimes they are out of beef or sprouts frequently.Overall a great place to eat, and are the top or near the top for everything they offer. Service is pretty good as well. Also as a bakery you can buy some great bread and pastries if desired.

The setting is nice but I agree with the professional food critic who said the food is like licking a salt lick. The nastiness of the staff eclipses everything, though. I do not recommend this place for your body or soul. The woman who looks like a Walmart version of Dolly guesting on the Hallmark Channel with drug store make up who is married to the poor owner is abusive and has a glaring personality disorder. She is toxic and barely literate, I feel sorry for anyone who interacts with her in any capacity. I always heard she’s hated by most of her family and employees and now see why given the way she personally attacks and argues with everyone who attempts to have a respectful dialogue with her. Her superiority complex is certainly baseless. She has no stress or frustration management skills; she is one of the most repugnant humans I have encountered in the restaurant or food service industry. I’ve seen higher functioning and more polished prisoners incarcerated for violent felonies released to work in prison dining hallls. The food is overall subpar, tasteless except for salt, and would be even if sold at discounted prices. There’s no food item worth the malevolence you get from the business troll and orally aggressive sea witch who behaves like an entitled cartoon character with no self awareness or insight. She is insecure, hyperdefensive, degrading and condescending. I have heard this from countless others and if you take a look at the upside down craziness she spews at every negative review on this site you’ll get a taste of her pathology. Her delusions of grandeur would only be commensurate with her worth if she was given gold bars for each pound she weighs. She has no skills to deal with customers or normal human interactions. Her misanthropy is stunning, she gives a Carol Baskin vibe. Her spouse should seriously consider hiring an attorney to protect himself and his business from this over fed parasitic tick who doesn’t possess the intellect, class, or the people reading, problem solving, emotional regulation or customer service skills of a 12 year old. I worry for him and his business. You cannot sustain this—despite a previously good reputation. She is destructive and caustic. He has my deepest sympathies in dealing with a person of her values and character.

We ordered traditional pasties. You must serve yourself in getting a plate, napkin, plastic tableware, ketchup, etc.Parking: We parked a few blocks away during the winter carnival preparation since some streets were blocked. We walked along the river walk to get there. It was convenient.

If pasties aren't your thing, then Roy's has exactly what you're looking for. Had lunch here today. Both our sandwiches were wonderful. The homemade chips are an awesome combination of french fry and potato chip. The Greek pasta salad was fantastic.

The pasties are the best anywhere. The crust is delicate and tasty. The filling on the regular had so much flavor! Also, the oatmeal-walnut-chocolate chips cookies are to die for. They have the best coffee and tea bar too.

A complex review so I'll break it down in parts. The past: meat mix ,spices and veggies rate a 5. Amount of filling and size were great Crust was a 3, too much shortening or butter for a better score. Variety of other foods was also a 5. The chips were incredible. The service: both a 4 and a 1 (only because a 0 isn't available). The order was for two pasties ,a sandwich without cheese and a couple of drinks. When asked about dairy ingredients the employees were unknowledgeable. They're young so..., but find out. Nope, no effort, just "I guess it would." They put cheese on an indicated dairy allergy sandwich ordered without cheese. One employee got huffy with the special order and more so when it was brought back to be corrected. So, food descent, service poor.

Roy's came recommended as one of the best places nearby for pasties. They were pretty good.. the crust was to die for, but the filling could use improvement. Most of the meat has hard to chew fatty or tendon spots that had to be spit out. The rest was fine. This is my 2nd pastie. The first was Miners Pasties on a nearby town. I like how they shredded their vegetables and their meet was diced super small or maybe even ground. Make each bite full of flavor easy to eat. That said, Roy's definitely has em beat on the crust.

Came here to compare with Amy J's Pasties to see if they were as good. Ordered a traditional as well as a chicken and broccoli. Chicken and broccoli is a cool concept but it wasn't special in any way. Okay flavors but I wouldn't order again. We also ordered a large traditional, which was also okay but doesn't hold up compared to Amy J's. We did also grab a couple deserts which were overpriced but good tasting. The seating and view are great so that helps. Overall if I was going to grab dessert I might go here again. If I were choosing between this and Amy J's for traditional homemade pasties I would choose Amy J's every time. A much more personable experience than at Roy's.
