5 stars given for the ambiance and the owner Ann.If you are going snowmobiling and want to stay in the middle of nowhere with great trails all around this is the place. Do what we did and don't ask for directions and only use Google maps to lead you there in a snow storm, this will definitely add to your experience as you will be within 5 minutes of your destination for 45 minutes turning down snowmobile trails with a trailer and backing up until you find the kinda plowed road that gets you there. The rooms are a place to sleep, if you expect more you may be disappointed. The night life and location are definitely "alive" on weekends, we'll leave it at that. The highlight is the owner Ann, if you get a few minutes to ask her about the past and read the old articles on the wall in the lobby you can't help but give this place 5 stars. We would stay there again, just set your expectations correctly before arriving, this place is about the riding and enjoying time around other snowmobilers. Thanks Ann for a great stay.

Hidden gem for sure...Loved our stay at the lodge. In the middle of the forest with peace , quiet, nature and starry skies. The view out the front door is amazing. Not a new facility, but clean and comfortable. Nice base location for exploring the Manistee Forest. Thanks to Matt for conversation and drinks.

Delicious white Russians! Stopped while snowmobiling like many others to enjoy. Had a fire going outside to warm by. Nothing fancy for food, but the chicken tenders and fries were better than I expected for bar food!

If you are looking for a rustic place in the middle of the Manistee Forest, Lost Pines is it. It is not a high class ritzy resort, but it is in a beautiful spot full of natural beauty. The staff is friendly and locals are nice. It is very rural, so yes there is no WiFi, phones do not get good reception , and there is no cable. And from a previous review, yes the pool is not open or kept up because they do not advertise a pool nor has it been open in years. It is a prime location for snowmobiling. We love Lost Pines!

I really like this place but prices for beer have gotten crazy plus it used to be a 3% service charge for credit now its 4% @ $4 for a Michelob I think you can lose the 4% fee. 4 stars because I like coming here and like the people

In the middle of nowhere, which makes it great! Host was really nice and provided free coffee. Room could use some renovations but this place isn't really meant to stay in but rather go out and explore. The kitchen is closed in off season (hunting season and winter time). The closest convenience store is 18 min drive. I'd go again!

Parts of this review would get 5 stars. However, other parts would get zero. We just stayed a couple nights at Lost Pines for snowmobiling.Location was AMAZING. You will have a hard time finding a place to stay where the trails are all around you like Lost Pines. The trails were groomed well with stunning views. However, the location makes it a bit tricky to get to in the heart of winter as most of the roads are un-plowed to allow snowmobilers. Don't listen to your google maps, call and get the best route. The room was a time capsule. Not much had been updated since at least the 60's including the mattresses. The room consisted of a queen bed, and two single beds. There was a tv with about 3 or 4 channels, no wifi, and no Verizon cell service. The shower was the bright spot in the room, not because of its appearance, but because of the function. I don't remember having that much water dumped on me at a water park and it was plenty hot. BTW, bring your own shampoo and conditioner- they are not supplied- there was a tiny bar of soap (just bigger than a piece of gum) There is not a coffee maker or blow dryer in the room so if you are the type of person who functions on coffee (before the breakfast area opens at 7:30ish) you might want to bring your own. We did not eat the breakfast buffet at the lodge as we didn't bring CASH.The bar downstairs was a local hotspot. Snowmobilers from all around come to have drinks and unwind. Not the place where you are going to get table service- you will need to go up to the bar and order your drinks, then sit down at your table. It is a basic domestic beer and shot type place. Don't expect to get a craft beer or craft cocktail. The staff was very nice and accommodating for what it was. We saw that they had food on their chalkboard but I didn't ever see anyone actually ordering/eating it. The bartender was great at giving you recommendations of where to get lunch or dinner. The bar will take your credit card with a $10 min charge and 4% surcharge for using it. The drink prices are pretty cheap so it wasn't a huge deal to not have cash at the bar as long as you were going to stay and have a few drinks. If you are the type of person that will be at the bar until it closes, stumble upstairs to your room, pass out, get up at 9am to do it all over again, you will LOVE this place. However, if you are bringing your kids, or plan to be in bed by 9pm and the sounds of loud music and snowmobiles racing outside your window will bother you, you might plan to stay elsewhere. If I were going to snowmobile in the area again, I probably would stay here again but I would be better prepared. I will bring a 4" foam mattress pad, a coffee maker, CASH, ear plugs, shampoo, soap, conditioner, and a blow dryer. The closest store was 20+ min away so plan ahead.

My experience was similar to the previous 1 star review. Tub was heavily worn down to where it looked dirty on the bottom. Was told there was wifi, but when we arrived that was not the case. TV only had 3 channels. Cobwebs on the lamps and corners of the ceiling. While we were the only guests, we were placed next to the somehow very populated bar which was loud every night. In the bar, the bartender didn't consistently wear a mask. The cherry on top was being overcharged. When we called and voiced issue with being overcharged and our experience, we were basically told we were being petty because it was under $10. Really just not impressed. If you want a room only for the night and don't mind sleeping on what felt like a box spring this place will do. If you have any higher level of expectations, go someplace else.

Listen we weren't informed no cable no internet could barely catch a signal unless outside. Would think they would of cleaned the dead flies etc out of windows seeing how weren't that busy. Pool was green and locked up I guess if we would of had more of a day to go walk outdoors that I would if found the beauty that Michigan always offers but we arrived late day no TV no books no nothing to whine a person down before bed after driving eight hours to arrive
