I was here at 1:30 on 4/2 and 2 of the the Guinea Pig cages had large water bottles that were completely empty, and many were almost empty. Also the water bowls in the parakeet cage were empty and their food was just picked over husks. When I gave the Guinea Pig one of the other water bottles he drank for 5 minutes straight. These large water bottles would have to be neglected for days to be empty. I’ve worked at Pet Stores and I don’t understand how something like this could be overlooked. I left without buying what I came to get because I thought that was unacceptable. We were the only customers in the store but the manager was busy talking to somebody about displays and the only other employee said they couldn’t leave the register. Who cares about your stupid end cap displays, take better care of the animals!

I don’t live in Grand Rapids, but wasn’t that impressed. Not a great selection of dog treats in my opinion. Also didn’t seem like a lot were made in USA. Layout of store was strange. My dog loved the free treats though!

Love Chow Hound Pet Supplies. Staff is always very nice. They keep a great selection of dog food in stock, not always easy in this covid era. Being able to weigh and bathe my dog with no problems is a huge plus for me.

Self-serve pet wash station is SO great! Plenty of supplies available. Flat rate of $14.99 is affordable compared to any groomer. My dog prefers being bathed by me instead of a stranger anyway. And the self-serve station here has treats! Staff were super friendly and helpful. Clean facilities. Easy to use. One stop shop with my pup for a bath and some pet supplies. Definitely will be back!

My dog flips out for the new store brand treats, Intuition! They’re freeze dried and obviously real meat. The prices are competitive and the staff is friendly, professional, and helpful. Very pleased with this store. It’s not huge either, so its far easier to navigate than some of the huge chain stores. They have a new loyal customer here!

What happened to customer service? I walked in to wash my dog at 8pm, one hour before the store closed. I walked under the brightly-lit "OPEN" sign and into the wash room and was told by a female employee with a mouth full of food they were closed. I thought she was joking but then she turned off the light off in front of me... really? I guess the priority was her dinner because it surely wasn't customer service.I truly understand there may be rule to not allow dogs in the washrooms after a certain time, but the lighted sign over rooms was on. There was nothing posted. The store was open for another hour. It takes me less than 15 minutes to wash my dog. I brought my own towels and I always clean the room when I'm finished. Sorry I couldn't give you less than one star.

We came in to buy a chinchilla last week and he has been amazing. We were expecting a long turn around time for him to socialize with us but after 3 days he's greeting us at his cage and asking for scratches. Heather the small pets manager deserves a raise it's incredible how she was able to socialize him so well. chinchillas normally take upwards of a month to socialize with their owners.

My husband and I regularly frequent this store with our dog Milo and I gotta say, the sales associates are very helpful and kind regardless of the amount of times Milo has tried to shoplift (it's a running joke, but he does try to walk off with a chewy every now and then). When it's just me alone, they always offer to help carry heavy dog food and kitty litter bags to the car for me. Thank you. -Sincerely from my dog and my back.

I raise, train, title, and compete with dogs in a variety of work and sporting venues including Schutzhund (tracking, obedience, and protection), flyball, agility, lure coursing, dock diving, and conformation. I also occasionally foster dogs for all-breed rescue. I make a point to shop at this store for all of my working dog and pet dog needs (other than some specific working/sport dog supplies that have to be bought from special vendors). I buy everything for my rescue/foster dogs from this store and we are frequent visitors of the dog wash stations before public events, dog shows, or important competitions. This is the best pet store around. The staff are very friendly, welcoming everyone who enters. They are extremely helpful, always offering to carry your bags of food, helping you to get the best deals with coupons and offers, and asking if you need help finding anything. I am consistently impressed by the staff's knowledge of pet nutrition. This store stocks respected brands of food and supplies and will set you up with frequent buyer programs. If you want something they don't have, they will offer to get it. They also host rescue cats and adoption events. I will go out of my way to shop at this store.

Chow hound is a great place to shop local. In general, the store is kept tidy at all times. They do enforce mask wearing and there is a plexi glass divider between you and the cashier. Everyone there is friendly and helpful when you have any questions about food products or other pet products. Please talk to your vet though before switching your pets food or putting them on anything.Personal recommended products:Emu shampoo: Helpful for dry skin for dogs.Earthborn food: Bag is recyclable.Fresh Kisses: Better than Greenies.

Easily connected to the mall/D&W for one stop shopping. Staff is awesome, including resident cat Mister. They are always stocked with the exact litter the Fluffy One needs. Yay!

Went to the Burton Village Chowhound with my 6 month old and Boston Terrier needless to say I had my hands full. The staff was so kind with helping me pick out my dogs food and carried it to the car. The Manager Julie was so friendly and gave my dog a sample of the cookies they make in store. Greg the gentlemen who helped me with my carryout was so kind he made sure my dog was in the car safely as I was putting my son in his car seat. I would recommend chowhound products to anyone but the Burton Village chowhound employees are one of a kind.

Bought 25 superworms and only two were in there? They all had molted and it looks like the fresh ones were removed or something. Also they had to be 4 or 5 months old based on the smell. Never going here again for worms.

Self serve dog wash is the best around and it's only $5! All the shampoos, conditioners, waterproof aprons and high speed air dryer are available to use.

Convenient location with very friendly staff. It's wonderful to go in and see the kitties up front too! Look for the store cat who is there all the time. They often have sales and coupons.

Would be a very nice set up,but the equipment is not well maintained. One wheel is broken on each ramp which causes them to collapse under the weight of medium to large dog. Not very safe.

Everyone workig there is very helpful. There are cats and kittens in the front for adoption, near the dog wash area, so hold on to your pooch. There's a rear exit into the actual mall also.
