the staff is friendly and the prices on pet food are good, but it seemed that the rat and ferret cages hadn't been cleaned very well. there was a bunch of poop. i'm also concerned that there is one rat living by itself. surely he needs friends. i saw a bird alone in a cage too. that made me sad. i would like to see a bit more care put into the small animals who live here.

This chow hound gave the worst service the would not let my 3year old use the restroom because they told me they did not have any public restrooms. Me being a parent to my child I’m not letting him use the bathroom on himself so I proceeded to tell him that he would have to use the restroom between the doors of our car where no one would see him and they told m ex they were going to call the police on my 3year old if he peed outside of their store like you won’t even be able to see him pee….Someone please tell me what I should do.Gabriel Waters

Since moving to the area with my husband and 3 cats, I've started shopping at chow hound, and it is truly the best in the area! The store is organized and easy to shop, and the staff provides wonderful customer service. I was shopping one day and had to speak to their manager, Olivia about a sale price not coming up, Olivia was beyond kind and helpful! I received my item for the clearance price and left feeling heard and cared for. I'll never shop anywhere else! Thank you Chow hound!

I came here to shop for my cat Charles and loved my experience. The store is so well managed and ran. As I was looking at food options, Olivia stopped to check in and was so helpful and kind and made the entire experience special. This is THE PLACE to go for anything for your pets

Not happy with the service and state of the Pet Wash station. Called ahead to see if there was a wait and the girl who answered the phone was unintelligible. When we arrived we were directed to one of the self-serve pet wash stations and it had clearly not been cleaned. Dirt and dog hair all over the floor, drain clogged with hair, and I had to go ask for towels because there were none in the room. Most of the supplies were laying around the room instead of the shelves, and more than half of the available soaps were empty.It's too bad because I really like this service that Chow Hound provides, when it is administered correctly. I will not be returning to this Eastern/28th location.I've had a better experience at the Byron Center location.

Items not price marked, a rude supervisor, and the fact the store looks trashed on the inside and out. The receipt layout doesn’t look right, and when I went back and asked the women who rang me she was offended by me asking/not understanding the receipt. I have disability, so when the supervisor and associate are both giving different answer it’s useless to understand.

Amazing selection of pet products, the dog wash is only $15 for each dog, you can buy the shampoos for $10. The staff is friendly and the store is big, 4 stars because this visit they did not provided enough towels for both my dogs during their wash

Went to pick up some Caesars moist food for my dog. Asked the Employee where to find it and was told, "Towards the back SOMEWHERE." So I found the Area where it was supposed to be and they only had 3 containers of what I was looking for. The sign said one price and they tried charging me . 37 cent's MORE each. I can buy it. 52 cent's cheaper at Meijer. I told them "Never mind, I'll get it cheaper somewhere else". The same employee who didn't really help in the first place Was VERY RUDE, and snapped at me that I should have said that before he rang them up. I WON'T be going back to this store.

Such a great place to shop for your pet supply needs. My dog loves to tag along with me and say hi to the very friendly staff there. Prices are right in line with averages around the area and they have a wide selection of treats & chews. Highly recommended!

No shelf tag for the food so I was unaware of the price, then the employees stood around and talked while I waited to be checked out. I slightly coughed to get their attention and I was glared at like I was interrupting. Rude and lazy staff. Won't be coming back any time soon.

I will not shop anywhere else! They are always willing to price match for me and take competitors coupons.Emily is wonderful! I have been shopping here for years and I am always excited to see when she is working. She is always friendly, respectful, positive, professional, and goes above and beyond to help me! She far exceeds all my expectations and I have heard many customers say the same thing about her. Also she is very knowledgeable about the products and helped me switch my dog over a new food which has worked incredible for him!I always receive great customer service here and will always recommend Chow Hound to my friends!

Extremely rude Supervisor Vanessa yelled at my kids for looking pointing at the animals multiple times even though they were following the rules. Certainly won't be spending my dollars at that store Again.

dog wash is a plus. DO NOT get the nail trim service. Paid $20 for a trim and grind and it honestly didn't look like they did anything at all. Took about 15 minutes, too bad for me it was a Monday evening and I was too tired to argue about it once I noticed what a bad job (or no job?) they did at the register. besides if that was the best effort after that much time and money, I'm afraid they would've hurt my dog trying again. I think it's a new program so I hope they get better...

The sign outside says the dog wash is open untill 8pm I took my dog in at 7:30 and the 2 employees told me they were closed. I have a busy schedule to keep and 30 minutes is plenty of time to was my small dog so this made a real inconvenience for the rest of my week I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else

This place is great for a quick pick up of food or supplies for your pets. But selection is limited when it comes to special items like flea and tick treatments. The staff is very helpful and can explain everything in the store. Definitely a good place for quick supply trips.

I am a regular customer at chow hound and the staff is very helpful in helping me find what I need. I recently switched to a different dog food and the supervisor was helpful in finding me something that fit my dog. Typically I enjoy shopping here. However, last week I have noticed that the cashier seems to have a foul odor and this isn't the first time I've noticed it. I highly recommend this place for any animal needs but I hope this is addressed by a manager

Very friendly, helpful employees, the cat and I both love the new cat house and cat food (yes, I eat it so I can afford vodka, it's great with eggs). They have a store cat which is honestly the best thing since sliced bread.

We use the self-serve dog wash rooms all the time! No mess at home, and they’ve got everything there, towels, shampoo, conditioner, air dryer...I’m sure we do a better job than we would at home in the tub, and no mess to clean up! We get coupons because we’re in their rewards program. The staff people are friendly and they are pretty knowledgeable, can usually steer me to the right leash or toy or whatever for our dog.

My husband and I went to Chow Hound to look at supplies for our kitten and also look into what they have in the way of fish supplies, supplies for all other pets, and even fish and we were SOOOO DISAPPOINTED!! YES, DEFINITELY!! WE ALREADY AGREED AS WE WALKED THROUGH THAT FOR.

We went there because the gf likes the santa paws pics every year with the dogs. However they had a few things for decent prices that I've either already bought or will be soon. Staff is great too.
