I was very grateful that it was easy to book here, that the prices are reasonable, & how nice the staff was during our visits. That’s why I gave 2 stars (there is this one lady though who answers the phones and always sounds annoyed, you’ll know who I am referring to when you have to call in). However, it doesn’t seem like this place grooms many cats because our cats were returned to us as if they never were touched. I’d actually like my money back to be honest.

Tammy was very kind and made you feel like family. When you first walk in, you instantly feel a sense of home. She has a fair-priced mini store to the side including shampoos, deodorizers (Cause all dog owners know we need that 😉), brushes and more! You could tell all the staff cared about the dogs and made sure they had a comfortable time. I took my boy, Pugsley, who yelps almost every time he gets his nails trimmed, and he didn’t make a noise (at least from what I heard myself). I could feel he trusted Tammy. Thank you for letting my boy smile again!!!

Went in and wanted my dogs ears and teeth cleaned and wanted him groomed. Was told around 2 hours. Went back 3 1/2 hours later to check in and they released him. Ears were still dirty and teeth didn't get cleaned.

Given the good reviews, I was looking forward to check this place out, but from what it sounds like they don’t care to bring in new customers and their attitude was not pleasant over the phone.

I took my 2 Goldendoodles here for the first time today. They were pretty matted unfortunately and I told them just to shave them down, no matter how it looks. When I picked them up, they were cuter than I pictured they'd be! They are extremely short, which is how i wanted them, but they were styled beautifully! The price was amazing too! I will definitely be a repeat customer.

My first visit to Avalon will be my last. Although not the only source of discomfort, the haircut on my Golden barely qualifies as a haircut. It was unsettling when the girl at the counter demanded the gratuity before I could see my dog. I complied and regretted it as soon as I saw my dog. I walked out, thoroughly unhappy. As I thought about it, I went back in and showed them the uneven and ragged cut. The groomer nodded and said, "You want it shorter." "No, I want it less uneven." She worked on her for another 5 - 10 minutes. I took her home and am very unhappy with how she looks. She still looks as if she were groomed by a third grader. Maybe Golden's aren't their thing -- I don't know. I gave them a picture of her from a previous haircut so they would know exactly what I wanted. The staff does nothing to inspire confidence, either. I don't recommend them to anyone.

the ladies here were very nice and accommodating. i was nervous to bring my cat to be groomed because she’s terrified of everything but the staff treated her so well! plus she looked and smelled nice afterwards. i was in & out pretty quickly and it was reasonably priced especially for the love and care they appear to give to the animals. would recommend!

Was told two separate times bringing my dog in being a first-time customer that it would be $50 to do her. I said are you sure with huskies and she said yes. Then I go to pick her up after a visit and they want $70 I tried to reason with her, told her my situation and the woman that told me the $50 price was there grooming... but she said No! I will not go back again. There are still some areas that weren't taken care of properly like I have had done from other pet salons... totally disappointed!!!

We had a terrible experience. Our goldendoodle is so uneven and has long chunks of fur all over. He has a cut in his ear, above his eyebrow and on his nose. He has been extremely timid since I picked him up yesterday and that’s so not like him. He has been to the groomer numerous times (first time at Avalon) and we have never had an experience like this. Very upset with our experience. We will not be back.

Due to my regular groomer being fully booked, I brought my dog here and I'm so glad I did. I've never liked his haircut so much - every detail is perfect. It's taken me years but I finally found the perfect groomer! Thank you!!

Such a reasonable price for such wonderful result. Owner Tami has decades experience. I've known her for two of those decades. Because I have my own pet consulting and behavioral training business... I will only refer to those groomers that I know not only have skills but the experience to make it a positive groom and simply love what they do. After all... it's also my reputation when I refer. Tami is that kind of groomer. I will drive the extra distance to Avalon if I have to personally bring a pet for a client. We had a long-term boarding senior pet that had mobility and sight issues. The pet's first time there and despite her Avalon being busy, she took the extra time being so considerate regarding his limitations. Any good groomer can likely make your pet look nice... It's the overall knowledge of understanding a pet's positive motivation, temperament, personality, struggles and/or limitations that assure a positive grooming experience. Tami has that. And being the salon owner, someone that doesn't have that won't last long working in her salon. She has high standards. Another groom that met all of my expectations. Looked super cute and obviously enjoyed the time with her. That old dog considered her a buddy and you could see how happy at pickup. Kept going back to her for some loving. And just in case if you're wondering... No I do not get any discounts. I pay whatever anyone else would pay and consider her work worth every penny. That's the end of my review for Avalon. Now my two cents worth to all the pet owners out there... sorry but now's the time for me to step on the soapbox as an animal behaviorist. I've trained for decades. I used to groom but did not want a grooming salon. I focus on my training and helping each pet be the best it can be. Focusing on positive puppy starts for the first groom... pets with special needs... and took the worst of the worst that had been out of other grooming salons. Over time... Every pet with grooming aggression I've ever worked on has improved to be the best it could be personally. Too often I had to explain to clients that unless they keep their dog maintained there's only so much a groomer can do to assure the final look. Also if your pet is difficult to work on... some pets are just not as friendly or don't like the groom process... Safety first and then the endeavor to make it as positive as can be with a good looking result. Without experience, a groomer may not even be able to complete a difficult pet. If a dog comes in a coat mess, a great groomer will do the best look/cut they can to assure a safe groom without over stressing the pet. That's what's going to keep your pet looking forward to grooming. So take the time to comb your pet. If they don't like being handled that's good experience at home to hopefully help them become more accustomed to grooming. Also it is good for your pet's skin health and makes grooming a much more positive experience. It helps a groomer provide the look/cut you desire for your pet to meet your expectations. So it's up to you to take accountability and realize that your expectations need to be reasonable... if you have a difficult and/or you're not willing to take the time between grooms. I am sure Tami will be happy to give you suggestions on the tools and the time required to maintain your pets coat between grooming. Ask her for the advice. She knows what she's doing and want your pets to be happy and healthy too. As I said... she loves what she does. Okay I'm stepping down from the soap box. 😁

I was nervous to take my cat to the groomers for obvious reasons. Cats, more specifically my cat, doesn’t do well being outside of the house, she’s easily scared by people, and loud noises send her into a panic mode. Also, theres not a lot of places and reviews out there targeted to cats. I was pleasantly surprised by my overall trip here. My cat responded well to the designated room and the groomer who was great with her. Very reasonable priced too. I’d recommend Avalon pet salon, I’ll be back!
