**UPDATE**The manager reached out to me via email to explain that there was a mishap with their online orders and apologized that they were not able to contact us in time to let us know they weren’t able to fulfill our order. They also emailed me a gift card. I came back this time in person to dine in. I received great service and the pizza was also very good. The even allowed our vegan family members to bring in their own vegan cheese to use on the pizza! I will be back again!Horrible experience. Ordered online, received confirmation of my order. I drove 20 mins to pick up the pizza only to get there for them to tell me that they currently don’t have any pizza. A normal restaurant would have called to say they are unable to fulfill the order instead they chose to wait until we arrived to let us know they couldn’t provide us with what we ordered. Advice- take items off the menu and online ordering if they aren’t available or at least have the decency to contact customers to let them know you are unable to provide what is listed on the menu.

UPDATE 1/8/24: I'm kind of sad to see that this place is closing permanently in about a week. Looks like I never updated this review after my original one roughly 4 years ago, but I did enjoy their pizzas too. We ate so many of them during Covid because it was so convenient and plus I had the Local rewards program. One of my all time favorites was the thai shrimp pizza, that was really good. I wish I would've dined in more because their entrees were good too. Rest in piece The Local, I hope something good takes your place.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Instagram is actually how I found out about this place. The burgers of the month and pizzas of the week got my attention. I never knew this place existed until recently, and it's close to home. On Friday I took one of my friends and gave it a shot. I got the burger of the month, The Beast Burger. The patty is a mix of Wagu Beef, Elk and Wild Boar, and is topped with white cheddar cheese, bacon, tots and tomato jam. It was great! I could spoon that tomato jam and be satisfied, it was that good! My friend got the cider marinated smoked pork chop. He let me try it, and it was magically tender and flavorful! The service was great too! I can't remember our waitress's name but she was awesome! I will return.

We happened to go on a Wednesday night when the pizzas are BOGO 50% off. Good deal. Most large were $17.95-19.95. I had the chicken bacon ranch and it was good. I wish the toppings went further to the edge as the crust was quite large. Other pizzas I tried were good. The staff was friendly, you order at the counter and they bring to you. No servers. They had trivia on this night as well.

But she may have been new or learning so I can't be too upset about it.Our carryout order was made incorrectly, both pizzas had a different type of crust than we ordered. We didn't complain because the pizza was INCREDIBLE.Despite the short comings we ran into this is some of the best pizza we've ever had. Would recommend!

Great food. Better beer with a huge selection. Reasonably priced. Locally owned, operated, sourced, and supported. It's pure Michigan. A great destination for those coming from out of town or for the locals for a quick bite. I go to trivia every Tuesday and get there chicken club salad (see pictures), because I'm on a diet. Do yourself a favor and stop in to The Local today!

Super cute place. Loved seeing all the happy folks sitting at the bar enjoying each other’s company. Didn’t mind at all having to order at the counter…in fact made it easier. But, the pizza was mediocre at best. The crust (thin crust) was clearly frozen and just topped with the toppings. They only put a handful of pepperonis on the pizza. The cheese was burnt. The crust was impossible to cut through. Guacamole came in a tiny tub rather than handmade, and it was almost 3.00. Ranch came in little individual packets. We love local establishments and rarely go to chains, but I’m not sure this place will be one we visit again. I wish they’d just put a little more thought into their food. Seems like such an easy fix. Seems like a great place to sit at the bar with friends, but not so much for food.

My wife had the pizza and loved it and I had the chicken bacon taco's which were excellent as well. We weren't in that beer drinking mood so I can't really tell you much about their beer but apparently they are known for it and have a good reputation. It was kinda cool that they had some live entertainment going on while we ate, nothing loud, just a guy and a guitar which was perfect.

**edit**The establishment reached out to me and made things right. Customer service is 5 star. I really appreciate the manager, Glenn, for that.I just really want to give the place a 5 star. I really do. The atmosphere is great and the staff is always friendly, but everytime I get a pizza, it's burnt. I'm not a regular customer so it's not like it's all the time. I see pictures of wonderfully cooked pizza on facebook all the time, but every time I have ordered (three times in a row) the pizza is burnt on the crust and underneath. It's hard to chew and tastes burnt in places. I must be unlucky.

There was no wait. We put our order in at a window all at once. I really liked this! Staff was able to attend our needs for a little things like condiments and clean up spills.🙊 The gentleman got drinks at the bar, (again no wait) and the pizza was served all at once. Everything tasted great and we also tried the nachos with Carnitas delish!

I have been going here for years and am a previous employee. Even though things have changed, they still have the best pizza in the area and hands down the best beer list! Do yourself a favor and go on Thursday for half off craft drafts and cellar beers!

Got their 10-in gluten-free build your own pizza. Pepperoni ham and bacon are the toppings I chose. I think they forgot the sauce and for $15 I definitely should have got more toppings. Definitely won't go here again.

Food is, as always, really good. However, using the excuse of Covid, the staff is untrained compared to pre-Covid and absolutely inattentive. They stated it was non-traditional service when we entered, but I didnt think that meant I would be ignored for my entire meal. I couldn't even get ketchup for my fries...Save your money til after the restrictions end, or eat elsewhere.EDIT: Tried again, and service is still subpar, but the food keeps bringing me back. The remodeling killed the Local's atmosphere, and it feels like a fast food joint instead of a public house.

An update to a previous review:This business will reach out and show concern should there ever be an issue, Glenn is a good guy as manager and wants his customers to enjoy their experience at the Local.That being said, it is a comfortable and classy small town environment with a lot of regional microbrew choices.Pizza, pasta bakes, pan sticks, all are good choices off the menu.Sarah is a great server/bartender and is top notch at being a main friendly face at the Local.

Food is excellent but experience could be better. You order everything at the counter and pick up your drinks when they're ready. Food is delivered. Servers are friendly but service is very slow - every time. Atmosphere leaves much to be desired. Rooms are stuffy and quite dark, tables and chairs are old and tired - and frequently sticky - and you can get trapped in one of the stalls in the women's restroom, a stall with floor to ceiling walls and door. The food keeps us coming back.Vegetarian options: Many, especially since you can build your own.Parking: Parking is difficult at times, and spaces/rows are tight, but there's plenty nearby. Flat parking and entrance to building.Wheelchair accessibility: Flat parking and entrance, but you may not get a close parking spot. Restaurant is spacious with free- standing tables. Regular restroom would be quite difficult but the family restroom could be more accessible.

Update: The manger contact me and made things right. The pizza was great and that is why I giving them 2 stars but that is it. The staff was terrible. We went on Wednesday which is trivia night. Most of the table at 430pm are reserved for trivia and it starts at 630pm. Only table big enough for my family was one twice my family size. We sat down and was asked to move by staff because that one was supposed to be reserved they gave us a table in the corner. That my Husband and I both couldn't put our legs under. My two year old was centimeters from hitting her leg because the the table had something that was hanging down. You have to walk up to the bar to order your drink and food which is ok. But then the staff still expects you to tip them. While they are goofing off and taking pictures. If you want their pizza I would just order it to go and you would have a better experience.

Topping were good.. the crust was not. Crust was very hard. Obviously a low quality frozen crust. Ordered a large garlic cheese bread, came on same crust and with no garlic taste to it. Was a butter and cheese pizza on extremely hard crust. Is it really gourmet pizza if you use frozen crust? Very overpriced. The delivery was over half hour late and took 2 hours for delivery on a Thursday. We are new to the area and have tried several local pizza shops. By far the worst pizza we have tried. Save some money and get little Caesars. We took video of our huskies eating the crust. Wish I could post it. Very entertaining

They were VERY accommodating when we brought in a large wedding party. All of the pizza was excellent. You have to try the Woozie, it’s the best pizza. Special shout out to Kimmy for making the best pizza in the county!!

It's been quite some time since I had been to The Local. I was blown away with the updates. That atmosphere is something you'd expect from a bar and grill in a much larger market and the selection of draft beers was excellent... Even having a few at cellar temp as they should be served. The pizza and bread was excellent and I look forward to the next opportunity to get back there and. Ring some out of town friends.

We use to go in here once a week to play some pool with friends and watch the Karaoke and have some dinner and drinks with friends after a long week of work but during covid they changed the menu to mostly pizza stuff now and changed alot of other stuff definitely miss how it was when they first opened and we Really miss the old menu with Dinners and more of the Bar food theme . But my boyfriend and I enjoy the pizza they have some good options and specialty pizzas and that you can get alcohol drinks. Not a really big fan of the you serve yourself thing. so we do delivery now. But with it being a small town restaurant its good.

Placed an order today and was astounded by deliciousness. The pizza was covered with an appropriate amount of toppings, and the crust was crispy. This may be the best crust I have ever had!My order was ready in exactly the time stated, and the service was impeccable.Overall, my experience was stellar, and I will order again. I recommend anyone reading this to give it a try, you'll be happy with your choice!
