Y'all are amazing!! I had lost my bird, Lulu, in January and was excited to adopt a bird from Birds and Beaks!! After many chats with Stacey, she helped me get everything ready and explained the whole process in details. Before I got to the shelter, I knew who I wanted to meet and she had all my information there and ready. On adoption day, my kids and I drove over 4 hours, 300 miles, and through 3 states and I would do it all over again. The second we walked in, I felt like I knew everyone (and the people) and it was so fun to be with my bird people!!! We were able to meet everyone and give some treats to the ones we wanted to bring home, after meeting just 2 birds, we fell in love with "Namaste" a beautiful Indian Ringneck. Michelle was there to help and she answered all our questions and helped us with anything (not to mention she was helping everyone else too-Rockstar!) Namaste loved her car ride home and is settling in nicely. I have had several conversations since we've been home and I can not thank you enough for all your help, tips and support!!!!!P.S. The facility is really cool and when we were there, the team was feeding everyone and that was cool to see!!!P.S.S. They have tons of merch that is amazing!!! Shannon made my daughter a hot pink hoodie on the spot!!! TY!!!!!

Very awesome rescue. I appreciate all they do. They are very thorough in their process to make sure these babies are going to wonderful homes. This past Sat. we were there to adopt a new family member and the process was great allowing you to take your time and look. And then I narrowed it down to actually do one on one with a few. After meeting the first one an IRN named Birdie I fell in love with him(I changed his name to Mr. Pickles.) Michelle helped us with the smooth adoption of him. He has been a joy for me.I admire everything you all do. You are amazing people!

I had such an exciting experience- the process was detailed and straightforward and you can tell that the staff really care about these beautiful birds. I was given plenty of time and information and was able to find a perfect match with Hermes (we did change his name to Fruit Loop cuz he’s such a silly guy).

The work being done by Birds and Beaks Rescue is so valuable to the bird population. It is operated by a genuine person whose heart is in it for the birds. The proof is in the more-than 418 birds that were rescued in the past TWO WEEKS! Not only that, the rescue takes time-consuming measures to seek out those who have harmed the birds rescued to address improper surgical technique and abuse. Coordination with vets, other rescues, adopters, law enforcement, and the justice system continues after birds are rescued and placed in safe homes. Thank you for the care and compassion you have to muster daily through everything awful you see, and your drive to keep going. It would surely cause many of us to break.

We have nothing but good things to say about Birds and Beaks. Shannon was very responsive and understanding, and although we hated giving up our macaw, we knew that it was in her best interests. The Rescue came VERY HIGHLY recommended by our avian vet. Any interactions we have had have been more than pleasant. And they were able to come to pick up our bird, too. Set up a vendor booth there and toured the facilities. The birds were well cared for. The place was clean, and they truly care for all animals. My only wish was that the weather would have been a bit nicer so that more people would have attended and helped such a great group.

Need to take your bird to a rescue? Or maybe you’re looking for a new bird to add to your family? This is the place to go! Not only do they selflessly take in birds for free, they also take the time to get to know them so they can properly match them to their new family! They also know all the ins and outs of birds and you can easily see when you start talking to them. They will take the time to talk to you and introduce you to their birds, and even educate you on any birds you might already have. They are also amazing at communicating with you, via text or email. I recently needed help from Birds & Beaks for a surrender due to a loss in the family. I couldn't have been more pleased with the interaction. It's obvious that these ladies loves these birds. If they come across as having an attitude, as some have mentioned in their review, I suppose if I had to deal with some of the people and situations these ladies deal with I'd probably have an attitude as well. Shannon is very honest about every bird’s history even if the bird has a dark side! We totally recommend this place me and my wife drove from Waukegan Illinois to Battle Creek and we do not regret the long drive!! Such an amazing resource for anyone with birds or that loves birds in the area. My bird has never been so calm while having her nails and beak trimmed. She was happy and healthy after boarding too. Knowing she is with Birds and Beaks made my vacation so much better because I didn't have to worry if she was eating and happy.

Shannon is very knowledgeable and if I have questions, it's her I want to help me. She has a good system for finding the birds a home. I think people need to do their research prior to getting a bird, and listen to the ones who know about exotic birds, and not only hear, but actually listen to the advice.She will let you know what the birds in her care are like, then see if the bird likes you.I highly recommend this Rescue, and even encourage you to support them.

Birds and Beaks Rescue is one of the best rescues in Michigan. Shannon is very knowledgeable about birds and has many years experience with parrots. Her avian vet is also excellent. After you adopt a bird from B and B Shannon will still be available to help with any concerns about your new family member. I highly recommend this rescue!!!

Shannon is great. The birds come first and she works hard to ensure that they are matched well with potential adopters. The support doesn't end when you take a bird home. She is so knowledgeable and is open and willing to answer any questions that arise. If you surrender a bird here, you will know they will get treated amazingly well and she won't adopt out until the right person comes along. If you adopt, you know what you are getting... no sugar coating it. I definitely recommend Birds and Beaks.

Sadly, I had to relinquish a parrot I had since she was five weeks old, and when I found this rescue I knew it was the only place I would let her go to. Shannon and Michelle are completely dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of the birds in their care, and while my heart is and will always be broken that I had to give up my baby, at least I am confident that B&B will always care and do what’s best for her and will never allow anything bad to happen to her.

If you’re looking to adopt from someone who is looking out for the BIRDs best interest, this is your place! I have adopted 7 birds from Shannon. She is always honest and up front and won’t allow you to adopt if she doesn’t feel you’re the best fit for the bird. She makes it about the BIRD and I wish every rescue felt the same way. She is not out to make a buck or grow her numbers. I would highly recommend her if you’re looking to give a bird a good home. She’s going to check into you so if you have a history of flipping animals, don’t expect to adopt from her and don’t call her rude when she calls you out on it. You did that, not her. She makes sure the birds are checked out by a vet and gives you as much history on the bird that she has. The birds are fed the best food, given plenty of toys and the rescue is clean. She, and her crew, is a fountain of information and they’re always willing to answer your bird questions throughout the entire process and even after adoptions are final. Love love love this rescue!!! ❤️

If you are not the correct fit for the bird she will care for the bird until the perfect home is found. She is always willing to help in any way she can and the bird are her top priority. On top of helping rehabilitate and help their intakes feel comfortable, they go above and beyond and work tirelessly to match the bird with their best possible future and owner.
