It's not to bad, very short education trip approx 30 min. We walked from the store to the hachuery 1/2 mile. You can feed fish in ponds and view creek from glass underground.

I learned so much here, it was all very interesting. It was a busy day with a shortage of workers (due to illness I believe) but one nice male worker (a RN at his other job) was kind enough to give us an informal unofficial tour even though there were no tours for the day and he was clearly busy with tasks. Loved to see how the "retired" fish are well cared for. Definitely worth the visit!

Everyone should visit and feed the fish! Epic experience. Wonderful place for all ages. Great to learn our forefathers cared so much for us. I hope the future generations do the same.

Best fish hatchery to visit in Michigan in my experience so far other than the grayling fish hatchery. The train was really cool to go in and check out. There is also a trout pond where you can feed the retired brood stock. The staff that work here are very friendly and informative as well

This used to be my favorite place as a kid growing up! You could walk the old concrete pathways through the river and they took those out. The only good thing here is the viewing area in the river.

As a professional nature and wildlife photographer, this is an amazing place. If you're lucky enough to see them, there are wild river otters, bald eagles, ospreys, and many other cool species to see. It is definitely a worthwhile place to visit.

What a cool place! You can see fish from the viewing chamber in a free-flowing stream, feed huge trout in spring-fed ponds, or tour the actual hatchery. All very walkable, even with a stroller or wheelchair. Great place to kill a few hours outdoors.

A unique experience that we were able to ride our bikes. Paved bike trails make it great for getting 10 miles in before breakfast.

Great youth fishing and other activities. Have been going every year for a decade. Friendly staff (Christine is awesome) and more outreach activities every year. Check out their Facebook page for their calendar of events.

Absolutely dig it here. This was the first year they are doing multiple tours a day since the pandemic. The tour is super informative and really gives you an appreciation for the hard work and resources that go into keeping Michigans water stocked with fish. Please check it out

The Visitor Center was closed possibly due to the holiday. Walked the path located around the center.

They were closed, so our bad timing. The hiking trails, ponds, interpretive signage and viewing areas were really nice. The trails are not too long so younger kids and parents with strollers can enjoy it too.

Incredible place and super nice folks. We reached there only 30 minutes before it closed and ran into Dean, the regional manager in charge of three different hatcheries in Michigan. Not only was he super nice and walked us through what they do but also extremely knowledgeable and patient in answering our questions.

A beautiful place to visit. Very educational. You are able to buy fish food for 25¢, roughly a handful. Great fish and a chance to see beautiful wildlife.

This is a gem of a fish hatchery! There’s a train car with historical information and displays, interactive games and puzzles; a great plexiglass-glass cut-out into the stream, so you can view the fish in their natural habitat. Then, just a short walk to the ponds gives visitors the opportunity to feed and view the big fish, and ducks. Great place to visit on a budget:)

Educational and fascinating. They have a train car from the 1800s that transported fish from the hatchery to where they restocked Michigan waters. Men lived on the train year round. They have a cut-a-way of a river bank where you can look through plate glass above and below the river. And there are tours of the fish hatchery itself. All set on a beautiful parcel of land.

Oden Fish Hatchery is such a peaceful place to walk. Always an eagle or Herron or otter to look at.
