The Social Amherst is a lovely, quiet place to live. I've been here for 1 1/2 years and intend to stay long term. Matt, Mel, and Phoenix are the core on-site staff, all of whom positively impact the community. Matt will handle any and all issues/concerns that arise, swiftly and with elegance. Mel is fundamental to maintenance, leading the charge to fix anything that breaks (Also dogs love her). Phoenix will save you from that random emergency maintenance issue, as well as general assistance. All three core staff are essential to why this community is a good place to live.I am excited for the recent increase in additions to the community, such as a new dog park and upcoming gym. There is also a free printer on-site for the community to use during office hours.Snow removal is fantastic, with the hard-working crew out there keeping paths clear even during the storm!A laundry facility is located on-site, but there's also a laundromat just around the corner.Overall a fantastic location.

I lived here for around 2 years. I like this apartment a lot. It is quiet and the environment is very nice. There are lots of green grass and new facilities (amazon hubs, grills, and swings). Nice small market place and restaurant (frontier pizza, subway) in walking distance.Also, transportation to UMass Amherst is very convenient. The bus stop is only 3-5 mins walk away. I used the bus APP so I can wait until last minutes and walk from home to bus stop.Staffs are very nice. Maintenance is helpful. They helped us reinstall a new refrigerator and small fixings like lighting. Also, big thanks to Matt for helping out with parking and taking care of it.The downside is that the townhouse itself isn't brand new, but they might be upgrading these years.I would suggest this apartment to my friend if they ask about looking for housing around the area.

It is very peaceful here. The grounds are clean, maintenance is very responsive. The dog park is a great addition and I like having Dunkin so close by. Matt, Mel and Phoenix do a great job.

Really nice place. I lived there for a wonderful year. The manager LaDonna and her daughter are warm and friendly. Lots of parking lots. When you want to go out, Route 116 is right in the front of you. Bus Route 31 and 46 will take you to the south and north. The only drawback, in my opinion, is the heating fee (electricity) during the winter, it's a little bit higher. Taking the rent per month into account, it's really reasonable. I'm leaving now, I would definitely live here for a longer time if I have a chance.

Super quiet and lowkey complex. Enjoy living here a lot.. nice size apartments for the size. Mel is awesome and always willing to help extra with any maintenance issue! The staff is all awesome, Matt and Phoenix are also willing to help with a lot of different issues as well!!

The Social is fantastic! For the expensive rental prices in the area, The Social was a great place to live that was actually affordable. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to live for a good price, I highly recommend!A few years after I moved out to be closer to my school, I ended up coordinating with Matt for my job. Matt is awesome! He and his colleagues (Phoenix and Mel) are very flexible and responsive, and meet their tenants where they are!

I love living here! Matt and Phoenix are always so friendly and helpful, I genuinely look forward to visiting them in the leasing office. Whenever I have a question or concern or just want to say hello, they’re welcoming and excited to see me! Mel is also great with maintenance and answers work orders promptly!

Have lived here for one year while attending UMass Amherst. First off, nice apartment! Beautiful view out back. Kitchen appliances are quite new.Every time we've put in a maintenance request they have gotten on it promptly.They hold regular business hours in the office and are very friendly and accommodating.They have been doing renovations this year, and have needed to enter our apt once every second month or so, but they always give at least 24hrs notice. When they needed to shut off power (which happened once for a matter of hours), they gave one week's notice via a schedule on the door.

I moved here in September 2020 when the complex was still Amherst Grove. I'm super happy with the leasing office staff (who are so friendly, kind, and helpful) and enjoy how spacious my townhouse is. It's a great place to live and I'll be staying for years to come! :)​

I visited the Social Amherst today and was treated with care and respect. Matt explained all the amenities and aspects of leasing, including details other people might have left out. It was a nice change of pace to be treated so well. Phoenix and Mel also showed me around and they were kind and fun to talk to. I'm glad I got to check out this nice place that has such attentive staff.

I cannot say enough about how peaceful a living space The Social Amherst is! Set in a farming community, a moment's drive from Amherst Center, as well as 91. The location is convenient, set apart yet still close to conveniences...very important for a 5 college area. Mel, the head maintenance facilitator goes above her job, (also a neighbor) to make sure the dog park stays Clean as well as fixing what needs to be done! Contact Phoenix and Matt for your next move; two stellar employees that run the office smoothly. Always available to answer questions and make sure our needs are met. You will love this community!

The property has very quite surroundings. Management people are very professional, highly responsive, and friendly. The property is adding new features to the apartment, so that's one thing I look forward to. It only takes 9-11min to UMass campus by car and it has Dunkin Donuts, Frontier Pizza, a liquor store, laundry shop, and Subway nearby. I feel super fortunate to find this place.

We are going on our second year at Amherst Grove and we are quite happy here. Great location....quickly get to stores, etc. Set back from the road, it's peaceful with views of Mount Toby and the potato farm next door. The residents are friendly and respectful. Pet friendly! It is the land of dog lovers! Matt and Mel, who handle the daily operations are fabulous! Both are ready to help any way they can. Frequently seen around the property, Matt and Mel always have a moment to say hello and give my dogs a treat. I have lived in many complexes over the years and I have never encountered a property team as warm and dedicated as Matt and Mel.

Rent went up $800 for next semester!!!!! These are kids that go to a PUBLIC university, they can't afford that rise. Besides, the apartments are not that good for the new prices, if the kitchen is renovated, the bathrooms are not, they only have one air conditioning unit for the whole apartment (I'm talking about a two floor one), etc. IT IS THEFT, PURE AND SIMPLE.

Really nice apartment complex. They have accommodated all my needs when I needed them. As soon as I moved in, Matt, the community manager, noticed issues within my apartment before I noticed them and had them fixed. They also made sure to change stuff I didn’t like. They have been so helpful for me and have responded to me whenever I have questions or concerns as soon as they could! Overall, great place to live.

New property management company coming in to help fix the issues but seems to misunderstand the issues, despite this the current staff on site is trying and responsive but seems to be put into an unfair position by parent company.Please note keeping our community safe and clean does not mean not allowing people to enjoy their outdoor spaces because of your inability to police one or two bad tenants, also receiving such notice with the trash situation being like this every weekend is frustrating.

Really unsatisfied. They’re trying to rebrand as student off campus living but there is constantly work being done outside causing lots of noise, they’re constantly coming up with vague excuses to come into our apartment, and they’re constantly shutting off the electricity and water. It’s impossible to WFH here. Most recently, the shut off our power for 8 hours during finals. Many of us do our finals online. This is unacceptable. Would it kill them to google umass academic calendar?Oh, and the dumpster is always overflowing and attracting cockroaches. I’m on a first-name basis with the health inspector now.Forgot to mention that we are not allowed to have patio furniture or ANYTHING outdoors. They threatened to throw away my $1000 bicycle because it was chained to my patio! And yet there’s trash building up and attracting cockroaches every week & I’m not allowed to study for finals because there’s no power!If you want to sign a lease in George Orwell’s 1984 this is the place for you.Staff is being put in an unfair position by this overbearing new management company.

I stayed there for a summer and feel very unhappy with my experience. The interior of the apartment is super out of date, and in the dirty side. The most annoying thing is the apartment manager/office. They NEVER consider if you are a full time student (which is what most people are, who lives here) or have full time job. They will call you at 6 am or 3 pm to ask you move your car becasue you park at the place they are going to fix (even they said it was ok the day before), weeding in almost every early morning in the summer. Packge pickup not available after 4 pm-ish. Also the mail service is very delayed here, I have bills arrive late, one even by 2 monthes and being fined $100. This is not a place for HOME!

I lived in a Farmhouse that was owned by Amherst Grove. My first concern was with their lack of personalized communication and the fact that they had us write down what was "wrong/needed to be fixed in the apartment" which we wrote down during our first month and handed in (in-person), and no one was sent to fix these problems (leaky sink, lights, etc.). On top of this, they changed online payment systems which were inconsistent and most of the payment ledger was either deleted or barely understandable. A few months ago, they claimed we owed upwards of $600, to which all roommates promptly emailed them proof of payment for each month, and they did not reply. As we are going through our move-out process, they claimed we still owed the money which we do not. In addition to horrible communication with staff, actual facilities left much to be desired with leaky sinks, poor insulation, burners not working on the stove, faulty smoke detectors (they would go off randomly), painted-over windows which sometimes would not open, and, at the beginning of our lease, mice. The combination of lack of proper/prompt communication, questionable facilities, and what feels like a rent scam, has made living here an unstable/turbulent time in all of our lives. On top of this, tenants received no assistance, waivers, or any type of financial opportunities during the COVID-19 crisis, which demonstrates to us, at least, a gross disregard for their tenants and their financial situations.

I have lived here for 1 year and I will not be back. Communication with the staff is horrendous and nothing ever really gets fixed. We have been receiving notifications that we owe over $600 for the past few months, which we do not, and in response to these notifications, my roommates and I have sent pictures of our bank statements proving we do not owe money. We have never received a response, rather they just keep telling us we owe the money. In addition to this, maintenance requests never get fixed and the apartments are nothing to be sought after. There is terrible insulation, mice, mold and facilities. Overall not a great place to live, but the worst part is absolutely the staff responsiveness.

Poor communication with the leasing office, maintenance requests are not fulfilled, and they are saying we owe money on the last few days of our lease when we have actually OVER paid them. We sent bank statements to prove this and they never replied.
