We have been Wintergreen Kennel customers (and fans) for almost 20 years! They came highly recommended and more than lived up to their reputation. The grooming shop staff do a wonderful job grooming our miniature poodles. The shop is very clean; we know they are safe and well-cared for. And when we recently left our cat to be boarded, Jacques and Josie wanted to in to the Kennel entrance to see what was happening with Charlie! Think that speaks to their comfort with the facility and the staff! like the TLC they offer, too! Every experience we've had has been a positive one and that translates into piece of mind! We would not leave them anyplace else.

Me and my boyfriend brought our dog here for about 6 days. After picking him up, he slept a lot that same day. Assuming he had a lot of fun, we brushed it off. My boyfriend ended up finding a large scab on his front paw the next day, which hadn’t been there before the drop off. We can’t tell if he is sick, as he has spent his time since simply sleeping and laying around, despite us having picked him up days later now. We gave a blanket for drop off, yet were told it “had to be thrown out.” Hoping our baby wasn’t harmed due to sleeping conditions. Leaves a worried pet owner to wonder about all aspects… Won’t be coming back here.

Wintergreen has always taken great care of all my dogs over the years. My newest addition (rescue) has a lot of anxiety. We were very worried and they took the extra time and with him to make him comfortable.

My family has always loved wintergreen! This is the best place to get your dogs groomed, they come home smelling great and looking great. The cute little bows are always a nice addition. Sandy is the only groomer we trust!

We left our puppy here for three days while we went away for a vacation. We had figured our puppy (6months old) would have a little vacation as well and start to get used to being in the care of others. While we felt good about our decision to leave her there, we didn’t feel so good about our decision after picking her up. As other reviews have said here, our puppy smelled dirty, like urine. We expected some extra doggy smells, but it was pretty gross. Most importantly, she was not making eye contact with us and was walking with her head down. Once we got home, I went to throw her ball to her in the back yard, to try to help her realize she was home, and she flattened herself on the ground like she was going to be hit! She then proceeded to belly crawl to me and roll over as if she had done something bad. She had never done this before, nor has she done it since. We don’t yell, at or use physical punishment, with our pets. We are thoroughly convinced that our puppy was hit while in the care of Wintergreen Kennels and will NEVER return to, or recommend them to anyone we know.There are many other places that will care for your pet and it is well worth the extra $5 or so extra a day!

Okay, finding a place to board your beloved pets is a big big deal! Finding one that doesn't break the bank at the same time is Golden! We've used Wintergreen over half a dozen times now and the staff there are always friendly, the dogs are happy, and when we pick them up, they don't smell like pee. Just a heads up, call ahead and make sure your dog has had all its required shots -- they require kennel cough vaccination. What I like best is that every day they send an email update on just how much my dogs ate, how much time they played outside, and a picture of my dog playing in the yard having a good time.

The people at Wintergreen are always very accommodating and they take wonderful care of my dog. It can be difficult to find a place where she'll be safe, but the Wintergreen staff delivers extra care and attention which makes it much easier to leave a member of our family behind. We especially enjoy the daily photos!

So we started bringing our lab there thanks to another person's recommendation from someone is our dog training class. Our lab has extreme anxiety but we work with Wintergreen on his meds and even training and they do an awesome job. They are dog lovers and great people. We won't bring him anywhere else! PS they give daily report card that are the best!

I was about to board my dog here again next month and decided to read the online reviews. One of them in particular confirmed the experience I had and forced me to think twice. The owners are very nice people and the office space is clean and orderly. Their prices are typically better than other boarding/daycare places. Several of their policies, however, are unusual and not especially beneficial for the dogs. One is that if you are boarding your dog overnight, they will not get to interact with other dogs during the day unless you pay a daycare fee in addition. I've never experienced that kind of policy with other boarding establishments. While this may be okay for one night, we signed her up to stay for three nights (over a weekend too) and she seemed especially pent up when I picked her up. They say they are closed on Sundays (strange for folks wanting to pick up their dogs after a weekend away) and it seems to me that they do not let the dogs out enough on the day they are closed. Another reviewer mentioned the exact same experience we had - after a weekend my dog's bed was soaked with urine and she smelled too. My dog would never do something like that at home or at her previous boarding facility - her bed is her sanctuary - so it seemed to me to be some sort of negligence - accidental or not - on the part of the staff. When I called to question them about it, they said my dog must have heard fireworks or some loud noise because they would never *not* take her out to pee. While my dog does have anxiety around loud sounds, she has never peed in her bed or in our house as a result. I would not have thought more of it until reading a similar review here. I would've felt better about it had they offered to absorb the cost for a new bed. I would think twice about sending your dog here for boarding. I will say I have had a better experience with their doggie daycare.

I absolutely do not recommend Wintergreen Kennels. I brought my four year old Samoyed here to be groomed during the COVID19 pandemic as her normal groomer was closed. Firstly the woman was extremely rude to both my husband and I. She then stated how uncooperative my dog was/how she was biting and therefore needed to be muzzled. I have never had this issue with any other grooming facility. I got home and then realized one side of her head was shaved down to her skin. My Samoyed has an undercoat that if shaved off can cause permanent damage. I am so furious and upset and will never be back. The groomer clearly has no training and does not know what she is doing. Do not come here.

Loving, attentive staff and clean kennels. The report card feature is great, complete with daily photos! I like that they have their own good food that my dog eats that is included in the boarding cost. No fuss!

After a 2 year absence without a dog we adopted a German Shepherd and back to Wintergreen we went.As in the past they are caring and responsible.Kudos to Kyle who treats us and our dog with such good care.

Our dog came home sick with a kennel cough from boarding at Wintergreen which we were not told about when we picked her up. Called to find out when the symptoms began on my way to the vet. The phone message and an email sent were never returned. What is worse is the grooming service. I was charged $70 for a hair cut so close to the skin that it shows her "raw skin".We've had their grooming service once before.While the groomer's demeanor and attitude were less than acceptable, we thought otherwise, the groomer did deliver the job.This time around, we not sure if we see any "good" in her service.This feels more of an animal abuse than the grooming service.I'm also afraid the barebone cut may have contributed to her illness.

I would not take my dog to any other kennel. Wintergreen is fantastic. I love getting a pic and a daily report card. My dog comes back healthy and happy after every visit. Wintergreen is the kennel to go to.

I have trusted Wintergreen Kennels for years to provide our pets with a home away from home and for grooming. For Haley, our goofy Golden, it's like going to camp. We've hated to leave her home when on vacation, but she seems to love it. She loves the ultra attention, walks through the orchard, and is known as the "party girl". Don't ask, don't tell.Our pets have also been groomed here, both Haley and our long haired kitty, Jasmine. Love the bows when they return! Can't say enough for Wintergreen and always recommend them to our pet friends.

Our Llasa apso requires grooming often so we get to go see Sandy a lot. She is so patient with our stubborn little guy who won't let us touch his feet or face. He even gets excited to go there and seems very comfortable spending a few hours. Sandy also provides a Grooming report which we hang on our fridge! They are very reasonably priced and we trust they take great care of our fur baby.

dog was ok but you can only pick up your dog when they are open and they close everyday between 11-12 ( my lunch break as well but I don't get out until they close) how hard would it be to keep one of the 5 employees at the place available to give people their pets back?we were told via e mail we could not get our dog back on Sunday no calls were returned and there's nobody there when they are not open so they basically lock your dog in a cage for 15 hrs and hope for the best, I could have done this on my vacation so I feel like I waisted the money. if there's no one there to answer the phone on Sunday's who's caring for the animals? I could've saved another days worth of fees if I was able to pick him up on Sunday but because I had to work Monday morning we had to pay the full amount because I couldn't get him until noon and of course they were on their lunch break- not a fan!- not returning!
