I heard this is a great place to shop if you're low income, so I was taken aback by the display of hundred plus dollar boots in the windows. 10% of the store will be things you actually want to buy that are also cheaper than at another store. If you are not prepared to spend two hours finding these things, this store is not for you. It is filled with the normal clientele you'd expect in downtown northampton, that is to say, the pinched neurotic faces of middle-aged white women blocking the gluten-free aisle and scowling at you. Don't buy the vanilla, it's terribly overpriced. Expect 50% of the dry goods you purchase to give your entire pantry at home a moth infestation unless you freeze your purchases for 3 days.If you are a Thrifty Shopper and do not mind multiple stops at multiple destinations, one of them should definitely be this store.

I get everything I can here. Deals are real, but check the expiration. Usually it's fine but some sections are heavily discounted for a reason. This is the place for boots and shoes as well! Always a surprise at what I'll find.

Deals and steals is the best hidden gem of Northampton. They have insanely awesome deals with great options. Also they are generous with community and give to people in need. Love this place and the kind owners.

The past two trips to Deals and Steals have been a disappointment. The bags of organic nacho chips were so stale I had to throw them away. The same happened on my previous trip. Purchased a can of black beans and when I opened them, they were bad. The can was not dented so not sure what happened. There seems to be no quality control of your products.Be cautious when buying food from this store.

In general I love this store, it's fun to look at all the interesting products, even if you don't need anything. But this week i had an uncomfortable experience over a pair of shoes.I was looking on the shelves where it was posted that loose shoes were half-price. I found a pair I liked directly under the sign, sitting on top of a box...i.e., 'loose.' (In the photo the boxes are on the floor, with shoes on top.)When I checked out they charged me full price, and when I explained that they were among the half-price shoes, they said they weren't, so I said that in that case I didn't want them. The cashier said nothing, just showed me a sign that said 'No returns.' I said that if their sign was misleading it was not my fault, and it would be easy to credit me for the shoes, as I had not even left the checkout counter, let alone the store.They insisted that it was my fault, refused to refund the shoes. and treated me like I was trying to cheat them. I offered to show them where I found the shoes and said I understood that the shoes were misplaced, but that I still wanted my money back.Well, after a lot of back and forth, they finally gave me the credit, but with a scolding about treating them disrespectfully. I apologized and said I didn't mean to insult them, but that they had treated me like a thief, which I didn't appreciate.We parted on decent terms, but if they had just acknowledged that the signage was confusing and refunded the shoes, this would have been a review in praise of the store employees.

Really a great place to shop. I wandered in here during a recent trip to Northampton. Their inventory and the prices they are selling them for was jaw dropping. Lots of organic and gluten free and other hard to find items at very discounted rates. The staff was nice, as well. I only wished I lived closer so I can make more frequent visits!

BEST STORE I have ever seen for health food items at deeply discounted prices. Same health food brands as Whole Foods but at a discount which can sometimes be quite significant. The clearance section for food is very big and has 10 for a dollar and 5 for a dollar items which include the same high quality health food brands. Staff is always super friendly. I highly recommended this store 😀😀

This review is for my first visit to Deals & Steals which my daughter introduced me to this past weekend. I was just blown away by the deals on food. I could easily spend all day here looking at the discounted goods. There are big name brands next to no name items. Some of the deals are less than tasty. For example, I got some natural cereal at less than $1 a box which wasn't great. I can understand why it didn't sell and why it was discontinued, but it was worth it at that price. I'll be back.

No visit to Northampton is complete without checking out Deals & Steals. I always imagined it would be a lot of fun to be a buyer for this place because they have a rather baffling stock. Half of the store is given over to shoes and clothing and the other half is where health food and personal care items are sold (if I recall, this place used to be in separate buildings).Anyway, sometimes you can find really great stuff like running shoes in wide sizes, dirt cheap LED light bulbs and cleaning supplies. Once, I got a great deal on as many granola bars as I could physically carry out of the store. And while the inventory changes a lot from visit to visit, I think that they stock certain items like coffee filters.

This place is chock full of goodies, from cute shoes to delicious snacks to household cleaning supplies. I don’t always walk out with something but I always enjoy walking through and looking at the array of items available, which change frequently.

Deals and steals is a frugal shoppers heaven. Many items are recently expired or were banged up in the transportation process, but I have purchased a LOT of food there and very rarely had something actually gone bad. There is an entire section of 10 items for $1 and there is legit high quality products in there. I love sifting thru the individual tea bags (10 for $1 as well). My mom, who is on a keto diet, goes crazy for some of their keto products that cost ~1/4 of anywhere else she buys them.

I am a deals and steals stan til I croak. Listen- if you enjoy thrifting tag saling etc this is a treasure trove of finding goods. Most “expiration dates” that people scoff at are for things that don’t matter. I straight up got honey for 20 cents. Coffee, La croix, wool socks, candy……, sauces, it goes on and on

An incredible discount food store with a wide variety of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and soy-free options. Many products are way cheaper then you'd ever see them at the grocery or convenience store. I gave it four stars because a few products aren't much of a deal at all; I question why they have individual ramen packs that are close to their "Best by..." date and are priced 3 for $5 when a new 6-pack is $4 at local stores. This store is extremely friendly to immigrants and migrant families, Spanish-only speakers, queer folks and trans people.

I will be driving from Boston every once in a while to come here! Amazing deals!!!! I just bought oodles of organic sugar free teas and kombucha and such, and my total was $6?!?! Nothing is expired. No idea how it’s so cheap, but it’s worth the travel for this! Plus, there are so many cute museums, a butterfly exhibit, a zoo, etc. nearby, so it’s worth a trip!

What an amazing owner, and the people who work there too are great. Deals ‘n steals has healthy and natural products for half the price of Whole Foods. They also leave a lot of food out of the store, for free, so people who can’t afford food, can eat as well. This place feeds seniors and people living in poverty, as well as offering food at a discounted rate. I am a very satisfied customer.

Worst customer service! Does this company train its managers to act pathetic or are they already like that?Buyer beware! Do not buy electronics here as items may be defective and they will refuse compensation, even store credit.Yes, I understand all sales are final but if the item is defective the mature thing to do is make an exception. Now I know why the word "Steals" is in the store name. What a rip-off.

amazing deals on natural and healthy products that are overstocks or close to "best by" dates. my friends took me here when I was sad because they knew that I would enjoy shopping here because they know how much I love saving money. it definitely helped cheer me up, getting buy one get two bags free of Terra chips 🤣💖💖 support your local small business. also very covid safe as well.

We were super excited when we first found this store. Unfortunately on my most recent trip (which we planned a whole day around coming from Albany), we were shocked to find how much the prices have risen. Literally, a good deal of it was the same price you would find in a regular store. Still love the people that own it, etc. But my goodness.

This store not only has great prices, natural and organic foods, but also clothing, shoes, and household items. But the best part is the customer service. During the pandemic, they have worked constantly to serve the community providing gloves, sanitizer and the most clean environment. They strive to take care of the customers, they bring what you need and ask for, they cater to you. But they also put food outside for those in great need, and many times, me and my family have eaten the food they leave out for the community. They are kind, happy, serious workers. My family appreciates very much that they have been there for us through these hard times. Please go and look around with time, and see for yourself. I suggest weekdays in the morning because the store gets packed, although during the pandemic, the numbers are limited on how many can go inside at a time. This is "our store". Make it "yours too".

Some items really are a deal and/or steal but I know that some things can be better priced elsewhere. I have gotten some really great purchases from the sale/clearance rack for expired/about to expire products whether it be snacks or cosmetics. As this is a store where items may vary each time you return, it is best to go in with little expectation, yet never leaving empty handed. Dry goods, bulk protein bars, beauty or cosmetics, clothing or shoes.. you are likely to find something, for yourself or others.

Went here for the frist time . This place is awesome everything from food, clothing, shoes let me tell you about the shoes awesome shoes and boots high-end for Low low low prices. So much organic foods it's great for people who would love to eat healthy but just don't have the income to be able to. I didn't make it out of the store without spending over 150.00 . But there was an awesome pair of hiking boots for only 49.95 water proof really insulated,very comfortable hiking boot. Had to have them . Great selection of jellies ,honeys ,pastas, chocolates oh my gosh the chocolates and they have the greatest deals on chips tortilla, chips ,flavored chips,popcorn all kinds of high-end flavors and Styles. buy one for 2.99 get 2 free. I was also looking for and found gluten-free wheat-free pastas they had an awesome Bean pasta it just delicious and then there was a tomato pasta, rice pastas,cookies all types , you just have to go and really take some time, look thur all the different special items. Really go up and down the aisles is absolutely great . leather goods to purses ,wallets, socks ,shirts, jackets .I'm telling you this place is great and from what I understand it's constantly change . The foods are always the same ,to some degree but the shoes, boots,clothes ,jackets , leather wallets are always changing .. ... get on down to seals and deals you'll be glad you did.
