Oct2022: 4⭐: I came by this location as a result of a family member needing to visit this location. When I arrived at this location it appeared to be part of a small strip mall type area. There is a bus stop adjacent to the main structure and an ATM machine out on the corner of the facility main structure. There are several handicap parking spaces in the lot adjacent to the entrances to the major businesses. The parking lot appears to be a little congested when I visited, but it appears to be suitable for large vehicles to get in and out of conveniently. There are power doors going in and out on either end of the grocery store. I noted that prices in this store were in line with what I have discovered in this specific area. I noted that there was a large selection of fruits and vegetables that I don't normally see outside of this area. I noted that the customer base is specifically related to the neighborhood. The food items I observed were also related to the local population. There was a varied selection of rice and beans. I checked some of the expiration dates shown on products in the store and I didn't find anything out of the ordinary. There was a well stocked meat section and deli section. I peeked around the area for the fish. There was a hot food counter area that appeared to be operational. I noted that all of the shelves appear to be well stocked. Some areas appeared to be cluttered, but I would expect some areas to be that way in this area. It was a bad thing, just an observation I made while checking out the areas. There were several cashiers at the front that were helping customers. I was able to walk right up to a cashier and check out. The cashier was friendly and apparently competent in the job that she was doing. There was an individual worker out in the parking lot collecting baskets when I visited this store.

I left my groceries by accident in the parking lot and came back to retrieve them. I stood in the customer service line (holding my infant) for at least 20 minutes when I saw the manager walk by. I ask him if anyone returned groceries left in the parking lot. He looked at me weird and said he’ll be right back. He returned to his post where he stands to do nothing but laugh and chit chat with other employees. I finally get to the front of the line just for the associate to say no. I went back to the cashier who did my check out and she immediately said they had the groceries. Guess where they were? Right in the managers possession. The one who saw me struggling holding my infant and didn’t want to help. If you want to be treated like a decent human being here, you have to be Hispanic.

This place has a very latino feel to it with some unique items. Prices can vary with some good deals and some more expensive than Stop N' Shop or Star Market/Shaws. Anyhow, it's on Hyde Park Ave before going into Cleary Square and if this place isn't good for you well, you do have a Star Market/Shaws not far past the Hyde Park Police station in Cleary Square. This place was clean and had a lot of people shopping in it. So check it out. You might like it.

I found everything I needed quickly and paid a lot less than expected for my groceries. Im still not happy about the cost of bacon ...but I was in and out fairly quickly.

Terrible customer service!! Waiting on service desk for exchange and only one person in counter. We asked for help and the manager said he couldn’t help. Terrible if your the manager and don’t know how the service desk works

I bought chicken from the store on a Monday night and when I opened it the next night to cook, the meat was spoiled. When I tried to return it, I was told that I only had 24 hours to return the meat. Be very careful buying any meat from this place

Hadn't been there in a long while. So glad I visited. There so many items there and good prices on meat and other items that you don't find regularly. They really cater to the Caribbean Island and food items we are looking for. Fresh baked bread, they have a deli, and they will even deliver your groceries. Not crowed at all and really organized and clean. Great experience over all.

Signed up for ride home after spending $75 in advance like you’re supposed to.. they didn’t honor it.Managers stood along wall at the end of registers and it seemed like more of a social event than a business. Then they stare at you like everyone is a potential theif. Especially if ours black because you’re not “ their people “ smh 🙄Prices go up consistently every month to the point where it’s pointless to go there.With the prices and lack of customer service Shaws is the better option.

I come to this store a couple times every few months, only when I'm desperate for certain food items. I genuinely dread coming here, because this place is often a god-awful experience. Social distancing is a joke, but much less respected is personal space. Only at this store is it a normal occurrence for a stranger to hover over you at the checkout line and look at you like you're the problem. Also, this supermarket has made me especially vigilant about checking my sales receipt, because on more than one occasion different cashiers here have overcharged me. The customer service desk rarely helps (I don't understand why they bother to have one) unless it's to direct you to speak to the manager, who almost always is busy speaking into his earbuds.

My wife really enjoyed shopping there. I take her there at least once per week. I would like to offer transportation to customers that don't have a car. I wish the manager would call me and maybe we can coordinate some form of transportation that could benefit America's Food Basket and the customer.

This is another economical local spot I like to frequent for reasonably priced produce and other shopping needs. It's not far from my residence and definitely saves on gas and travel for most of my basic and household necessities that help to stretch those dollars during nowadays. For some people who may miss a certain brand or imported ethnic foods I'm sure here is where one can find some of ones that can being back childhood nostalgia or that taste from the old country flavor that is truly missed.

I been visiting American Food Basket for many years, but lately I have noticed the the meat department does not have someone that could communicate with customers, I was there today and one of the fellow who works in the department had a hard time to understand what I was looking for, I wait like 15 minutes for him to come back , I got a piece of bottom round beef to make thins steaks and he come back with 4 steaks, another 10 minutes waiting for him to come back, because I told him that is not what I asked, and the results out this, the lady that came out, was not understanding either, I waist my time and this lady had a nasty attitude, I understand that this place does not specialize in cutting meat, but at least they should know how to help the customers, getting nasty it is not the solution to the luck of communication, I spoke to them in Spanish, and still, I got the wrong items. It looks to me that there is a poor management system in this supermarket, I have visit Randolph, and is a pleasure to go there, the Meat Department are aware of what customers wants, this is why I go to Randolph always, anyone you asked a question and they respond in a friendly manner, and this in Hyde Park is been happening lately, maybe is time for a the manager to do a review, to his employees.

I had a bad experience today. Usually the place is very nice, despite the language barrier. But my plastic bags broke, and my glass bottle purchase shattered and spilled all over me. I was coming home from a funeral. I was waiting in line for someone to replace it. I paid more than $4 for the Bragg's apple cider vinegar. The man I asked about it looked at me like I was crazy. It was dripping all over the floor. By then the receipt had been destroyed by the liquid. Someone came to mop it up and couldn't understand why I was upset. I started speaking Spanish. I am white and disabled and use a cane. I have two replacement knees. I didn't want to slip and fall. Finally someone got what I needed and double bagged it. I had to take an Uber because I couldn't take the bus smelling like apple cider vinegar.

I love this market, they always have what I need and the (stores) are always clean and WELL stocked...They lost a star with me because the front cashiers are not as friendly as the floor workers.. They're not aweful but their interaction with customers could use some improvement. But over all, this place is great.

It has a variety of food that you may not get at your regular grocery store. Nice place. I love the free taxi thing you can get if you exceed a certain amount. Very convenient and thoughtful of them.

Unbelievable had to wait for deli meat for over 15 minutes without the deli associate acknowledging that you needed to be serve. The service sucks in this place is crazy even manager was standing there eating away in the deli like she care less on customer. I believe without our service there's no sales or business get it together people.....

Some of the cashiers are really rude and it's predominantly owned by Spanish people so most of the cashiers don't speak a lot of English. But sometimes it's also helpful that you walk around with the flyer because what they scan up and what the flyer says is sometimes wrong

They carry all my Caribbean foods. This store is amazing. When you find yourself sending around $270 in a small supermarket every time you go there, that speaks for itself. AFB good job. Only one recommendation please have your cashiers smile and be a luttle more

Worst customer service anywhere! Workers are more interested in texting than assisting customers. First, one employee pretended not to hear me, when I asked for an item I could not find on the shelf. I wanted "Hot Jamaican Jerk Seasoning, " I found mild.I picked up the bottle of mild jerk seasoning and I actually walked over to the work that pretended not to hear me and I showed him the bottle "Grace" brand I wanted. Before he help me, he had to finish his texting conversation. He eventually got around to walking towards the bare shelf I just left and began to show another brand of jerk seasoning to me. I informed him that was neither the brand nor the bottle I showed to him. I got a sigh along with a look of disgust from him, before he left me standing and waiting in the isle 15 minutes expecting him to return with the item I requested. He NEVER returned.I finally walked to the front of the store to voice my complaints to the store manager, who was also on his cell phone and had zero interest in listening to what I had to complain about. [Hyde Park location]Disgusted, I left their store, I drove to Price Rite Supermarket and I spent my money there.

I went there to get milk for my grandsons the green and white box they didn't have any so, I looked for purple and white didn't have that either. Went twice on different occasions so now I know NOT to go there for the milk. Store seems to be just for Latino and West Indians. But, it says American food basket.... NOT.

The workers are very rude and have not yet learn the time concept. I was a victim of racial profiling in the store. I shop at this location very frequently , The store is in our neighborhood we would like to have better service. I will never shop there any more

my husband went to this particular store on Sunday 10/7/2018 at around 10 am, bought fresh bread amoung other stuff. When he gets home with the bread, the bread was all smooshed up, the bager grabbed the bread and added other items together in the bag as well. This store need to train their employess better in how to deal an treat the public. The mayority of the Cashiers are rude to the costumers. I've seen it and have witness all of this since I shop there every time. Other than that very important treatment to customers, the store is very well equiped with the mayority of the diverse food from the caribean.
