I love Big Y!! Yes, it can be a little pricey, but has a great variety of products. Some things I can only find there and no place else, ie the cashew milk I like that has 10gm of protein per cup.My family loves the sushi bar and the hot bar. Good selection of freshly made soups.I dropped something one time and made a royal mess. I felt so bad, but the staff were very kind, cleaned it quickly, and told me "it was no big deal, not to worry".That helped me a lot.I continue going to this store every chance I get.

Grocery store, but be prepared to wait a long time because there’s usually half doesn’t employees upfront but only one line open. Plenty of self check out, but only one or two people checking the rest of the store out. I don’t like to check myself out because I don’t work here.

List of reasons:-Lots of out of stocks when their competition has things in stock.-Never any baggers at the slowest times or busiest times.-The price is higher than their competition.Today they had five lanes open and only one bagger. If it wasn't for the fact it's in town, I would be shopping somewhere else. I'm going to structure my trips that way I can go to market 32 or market basket in the future.

Love shopping here and the big y express checkout but don’t love when my newly bought strawberries have mold.

Did not care for treatment at check out when trying to buy big y gift card. I felt like I was treated as a criminal. Very humiliating. I have no clue on how fraud is done with a gift card it was going to be donated to a church. Very simple.

Garbage paper bags, handles always rip. For such an expensive store you'd think the bags (that you have to pay for) would be able to hold together for at least a single use.

The store is clean and the place was busy. I wish they had a better selection of food products. Instead, they have a rather large section for beer and alcohol. Prices a little on the high side.

Avoid the produce section unless absolutely necessary; the lettuce was brown and rotted on the bottom, tomatoes were wrinkled and sticky. Dry goods, dairy, and meats were fine but I wouldn’t buy the fruits and vegetables. Other Big Y locations have a much fresher selection.Update: Had to drop to 1 Star. Rotting produce is still a problem, and multiple times I go here and the employees are having nasty, detailed conversations about their medical issues at the checkout area.

$2+ for a peach??!! $8.99 for 2 lb rotisserie chicken when Market Basket only charges $4.69 for a little larger size! I have to watch prices at checkout as I've been overcharged! Really annoying as it takes more time since they have to double check the price. I avoid shopping there.

I absolutely love their bakery 🤤 the cheese Danish is so good. All their baked goods are delicious but that one stands out. They have a pretty big selection of meats, deli meats, seafood, produce.. etc. Staff is friendly and the store is always clean with stocked shelves. Their pizza is also pretty good and reasonable.

Good store but a weird parking lot.

Large roast beef sub. If you're going to charge $11.99 for a sub at least put some meat in it. Also really enjoyed the employee conversation in the cafe dining area where they were discussing having a C-section, and doing nasal irrigation. Love hearing about that while eating overpriced food.

Bigger than the Ware location, with more variety, and our fussy bunnies love their kale

I love shopping here. It's comfortable and has many items to choose from. The bakery is wonderful. The employees are always friendly and helpful. It can get pretty busy in here but I can understand why.

More expensive than anywhere else, you'd think the product would at least reflect that but sadly does not, particularly questionable fish in the seafood department

They water the lettuce too much. It is always soaked and does not dry out at home. Less water and the lettuce would be fine. End up having to throw a lot of it away. Very disappointing!

The store itself is clean but the shopping carts are disgusting as laden with bird droppings! Big Y cannot keep up with the cleaning needed to sanitize our food carts. Why is there no enclosure built to store these carts? Can they sacrifice the dining area that is seldom used? Other local stores can manage to provide appropriate cover. This is long term issue that no one properly addresses.

Big Y is a scam. Produce rarely lasts more than a day or two. Bananas come both green and freckled. Berries are likely already growing mold at time of purchase. I’ve had a tough time finding certain products that other grocers carry. Prices are astronomical, even with the savings card. And if you’re like my family member who was visiting from out of town and made the mistake of stopping here, you can’t use a store card or sign up to get the sale prices on the purchase you’re making. Beyond that, 10 cents per brown bag is robbery. My family member had no idea about this sham policy and got stuck at checkout.Big Y definitely takes advantage of being the only grocery store in town, but it’s worth the extra ten minute drive out to…anywhere but here. Holden can do better than this.

Over priced as far as grocery stores go, good for picking up something you forgot from a cheaper grocery store. Their prepared foods are good though. And they do make a good fish n chips dinner

Love BIG "Y", but definitely more upscale and expensive...I noticed that I paid .50 - $1.00+ more per item...

On Friday night at around 8 pm, I went to collect my pizza order for a chicken and bacon pizza. Upon arrival, I was greeted by three employees who simply stared at me without offering any assistance. I had to ask them directly if anyone was willing to help me or if they planned to continue staring. However, when I got back home and opened the box, I was disappointed to discover that my pizza lacked chicken and pizza sauce. Essentially, it was just dough, cheese, and bacon bits from a shaker. After the incident, I reached out to the manager the next day, and she assured me that she would investigate the matter. However, we never received any response from her. It's surprising to see how some employees can be so lazy, even for a simple pizza order.

Huge supermarket. Had a whole isle dedicated to craft beers. I've never seen a supermarket with this much beer.Isles here are huge, no bumping into anyone. Even on Christmas Eve with it full capacity. I found parking in the packed lot. Enjoyed picking up a few things for our Christmas party.

I have going to The Big Y in Holden for years. I have always gotten great service. Two weeks ago I broke my right wrist and now have a very large cast. I have been to the store three times since and was lucky to get two very special members of your staff. Dolly and Kathleen. K packed each of my bags lightly so I could pick them up without a problem. K also offered ti help me load my bags into my car. Kudos to both Dolly and Kathleen!!!

The manager behind the counter used to make my family decent pizza and sandwiches. Now he makes his sandwiches with the meat almost non-existent. The store is a joke and way overpriced.

My wife and I live on the Worcester-Holden line. We usually go to Worcester grocery stores, but found the Big Y in Holden yesterday. It was amazing. It has such a great variety of food, baked goods, wine and more. The staff were so friendly too.

Wonderful to shop here, nice variety of domestic and imported foods. Produce, meat, and fish are so nice and fresh. They close on holidays to allow their employees family time, and they have delightful and caring helpers. Big Y hires folks with intellectual challenges, and I support that 100%!
