The homeport was delicious and the atmosphere was great! Peter, our waiter was amazing and so cute! We had a party of 8 and no one had any complaints about food or service! From appetizer to dessert everything was amazing!

I remember going here when I lived on island many years ago. A lovely reboot. We were there early, food was very good. Excellent chowder, the mussels were fantastic. My wife’s linguine with clams was delicious and my swordfish was great as well. Couple of pies for dessert. Loved my key lime! And the oysters we got were perfectly shucked. I think it’s pretty good value for money on island. I wish they would disclose there is an almost $16 dollar charge for the wine setup when they offer it. I get it, but it seems shady to offer something and not say it’s going to cost you. Also disclose the mandatory kitchen appreciation fee on the menu and website. I don’t mind paying it but I do mind not knowing beforehand. And they obviously have spent some money on the patio.. those umbrellas are something!Overall very happy with our experience.

Once a year I break the piggy bank and head to Home Port for lobster take out. I bring my own wine/Champagne, put the kids on the picnic tables, get a few oysters, and...relax. The view is sensational. Yes it is super expensive but I feel like the lobsters are cooked better than they used to: just the right time to get steamed before becoming tough. Then an ice cream and a stroll on the harbor and I don't want this evening to end. Lots of discourteous drivers in monster trucks/SUVs though: it is a tight place, just park your tank a bit further and walk, you'll survive.

Absolutely not worth the prefixed meal prices. You’re getting mediocre wedding food at best. Your food at your own wedding probably was probably better. Kids portion of the fettuccine was like a side dish, not at all worth the price. I asked if we could get a little extra for , but they couldn’t be bothered to scoop a little extra from the premade fettuccine I’m sure they already had made. Nothing is made to order. My swordfish was dry and bland, so don’t bother. View from the outside porch was stunning though. I’d save your money and not go here.

To be totally honest, the food is probably 3.5 stars. The views from the outdoor patio are great, the ambiance is nice, and the menu itself looks like it should be 5 stars. However, at a $79 fixed price menu, it was really quite shaky. Watermelon salad was 2 sort of sad looking rectangles of watermelon. The steak frites was fine, but the steak was incorrectly cooked and also about 1/3 tough fat. One would expect better for the price. But, great views of the water...

Great sunset atmosphere on the deck and good service. Food is middling and overpriced. Be prepared for annoying hidden charges. For example, we ordered a platter of 12 oysters and 12 shrimp for the table. No one brought side plates, which we promptly asked for. So on the bill was an extra $20 for "shrimp service". Not a huge amount relative to the already bloated bill, but a pretty sleazy move nonetheless. I'd rate the place higher if it weren't for this type of unethical nonsense.

What a night. We had a reservation for 7:30 and didn’t get a table until 30 minutes later. It was BYOB so we waited for the wine glasses for 45 minutes, we drank our wine then 2 hours later we got our appetizer and then entree by 9:45 pm at 10 pm we got our frozen peach pie 😝Overall, not a good experience here. We had some extra charges for wine serving and kitchen appreciation🙄which we didn’t know. The manager told us that she was sorry but there was nothing she could do for the food delays. The only discount we could get was our 2 coca-cola we drank😐 !!Overall I am giving this place a 2 stars because of the waiting time and how expensive it is. The food was okay. The ambience was okay. The parking sucked( limited parking spaces) and don’t ever show up without a reservation you will be send away. 😞😞😞Parking: Awful if you go on Wednesdays, Thursday, Fridays, Saturdays……

Awful. Definitely an overpriced tourist trap. View is amazing but you can get that for free anywhere. Food was inedible. Service was bad. Waitress never checked on us to see if we needed anything. Food was so bad. Steak tasted like it had been baked and then they just seared grill lines on it. Pasta with clams was so overly salty. Cornbread was burned.

Oh boy what a night. If you go here prepare to spend a minimum of 3 hours waiting for food and a few gorgeous minutes eating it. We got here at 7:15 with a reservation, received our table at 8 and got our appetizers at 9:15 we finally were able to leave at 10:45. Basically, service and waiting times were an absolute nightmare, but the food was delicious. It's a beautiful place but just not a good overall experience especially considering their prices. When we got the bill they had added items that we didn't get so we asked to talk to the manager who basically told us that they're not accountable for wait times and poor service. In conclusion, don't ever go here. Theres a little takeaway place next door where you still can enjoy the views!

On an island of expensive options, this one pushes the envelope a bit too far. The location and view is as good as one could expect; but sadly, that’s as good as it gets when it comes to the dining experience.Dinner for 2 was about $180 for a fixed price menu (keep in mind the place is BYOB with pretty heavy corkage fees which we did not incur). A pasta dish and a fried fluke dish; neither bad, but neither super impressive. Appetizers were good, as was the desert…but nothing that can’t be had anywhere else on the island for a fraction of the price.I wasn’t disappointed with the food, the service, or the atmosphere. Clearly, though, the owners must think they’ve got the only great location on the island and set the prices accordingly. I’m ok with $90/pp for dinner, but even on MVY, you should be getting something special for that price. We didn’t.

What a disaster Homeport is. We arrived on time and were seated in the dark, noisy main dining room. After 20 minutes without seeing our server we were told she was sick by the hostess who then disappeared. Another server came over and told us she told the hostess of our situation. At no time did we see the manager, we weren’t even offered water. After another five minutes of staring at a price fixed menu that was going to total $200 for two, we got up and walked out. Do yourself a favor and dine anywhere else on this amazing island. Homeport needs a complete overhaul.

Ava provided absolutely extraordinary service! We had the oysters, shrimp cocktail and scallops, all were fabulous. The scallops were accompanied by a fresh vegetable medley from a local farm. The parking attendant was very friendly as well. Highly recommend.Parking: Friendly parking attendant, gets you a spot with a smile.

We don’t know previous version of The Homeport, so I won’t provide any historical comparisons. Here’s what’s great: The location - Menemsha is about as classic New England as it gets and many of the restaurant tables have water views. The vibe is relaxed and all about Summer, seafood, and the sea. Here’s what isn’t great: The menu, the food, and the prices. It’s a fixed price menu with limited options and all of them are expensive relative to the value. We dine out regularly on the Vineyard and are well aware there are not too many cheap meals to be had. I ordered the lobster dinner, which is roughly $75. The lobster was small and the corn was tired. The price relative to the value just does not match up.With all of that said, it is the first Summer under new ownership and they are trying hard. The service was friendly and helpful, despite it being busy. They are actively seeking feedback and I’m hopeful they will rethink the approach to the menu after this Summer.

The expensive food was just fine, but it took more than an hour to get our food. The worst part was that we sat in a strong sewage smell that apparently the restaurant knows about but doesn’t have candles to dim the smell or discontinue people from sitting outside.

Sadly a very unsatisfying experience. From service was average with our waitress forgetting our drinks and not bringing silverware, to a below average meal not worth the high price. Our steamers were quite undercooked and mushy, my wives lobster was overall salty while my “pricey” scallop plate was a very small portion. The “homemade” pies still had barely defrosted crusts and were flavorless, while the coffee tasted as if it had been sitting out on a burner for hours. Hate to be so critical but the Homeport used to be a fantastic restaurant but this new variant falls well short of its predecessor. For “fine dining” it was definitely not worth the $200 price tab

Prix fixe menu (I think $78/person), plus raw bar & a couple optional extras. No alcohol sales in Chilmark so BYO.The food was great on my recent visit: fried oysters presented on the half shell, burrata, linguini (fresh) with clams (also fresh), cod and clam chowder, fennel crusted tuna. It's a fancified version of the old school seafood restaurant that it once was.

Beautiful location... that's all that is good about this place.-Water was never refilled-Place settings were never correct for my party-Salad had no dressing on it-Lobster was clearly frozen and at best tasted MID-Key Lime Pie was melted-No decaf coffee available-Regular coffee was no better then diner coffee. -Folgers at best. One would think that for $80 a plate a fine dining and service experience would be in order... Won't be found here. Keep it movin'

Wonderful restaurant in Menemsha with a great, wraparound deck for outdoor seating and sunset viewing. Friendly, young staff, though they seem understaffedso wait for food, water, etc is long. Menu is about 95% seafood with only one non-seafood entree option so try another restaurant if seafood is not your thing. Finally, don’t forget Menemsha is a dry town so BYOB.

Not so good. Only the sunset was great! Unreasonably overpriced. We brought a bottle of Savignon Blanc and were charged $15 for us to unscrew the topoff. We were given plastic wine glasses! We are a party of 2 and dine out frequently. We are open to various cuisines and levels of service. This is simply not worth the price, especially for the picnic table atmosphere.

From a restaurant that is in a great location and is so expensive, I expected better from all the dinners that we received. There were four of us dining and each of us ordered something different. I was extremely happy with the tuna nicoise. It was extremely tender and tasty and accompanied by spring greens and various vegetables and kalamata olives. Another diner had The boiled lobster and was happy with her meal. It was accompanied by sweet corn and red skin potatoes. The third diner had the fried flake and you might as well call it fish and chips but it was overdone and not quite as flaky as it should have been. The coleslaw was definitely on the running side instead of creamy and the tartar sauce was really tasteless. The fourth diner had swordfish and said it was tasty but also complained about the tartar sauce and coleslaw. The desserts did not seem to be fresh.Because the quality of food was inconsistent depending on what was ordered, I cannot highly recommend this restaurant.

We came back with friends after an amazing dinner early in July. To say it was disappointing is an understatement. This is a spot with a million dollar view. BUT the food was just OK. Servers are tired and not trained well for a menu that promises an "experience" (read $$$$). Safe your money and visit one of the take out windows in Menemsha. They offer wonderful food. We really wanted this to be Aquitaine unfortunately it is not. Sorry Home Port we will not be back.

The view was fabulous the food was not. I know everything is expensive on the Island but $71 for lobster is ridiculous. We had to tell the waiter that the coffee was part of the menu, he offered it to the others but not us. I remembered when the Homeport always had great seafood and a delightful selection of fish and lobster. That is no longer the case. Limited menu selection, poor service and overpriced .

I really wanted to like the homeport. I enjoyed the sort of retro concept and the location is hard to beat but the execution is pretty poor.It seemed like the waitstaff was lacking some training so they did not execute on things like getting new silverware between courses, bringing bowls to discard shells or providing tools the break down the lobster. Our party had to wait over an hour between courses. Clearly something went wrong with our ticket, which happens sometimes so I don't fault them for that. But when the manager came over after almost a hour of waiting we were informed that the kitchen was backed up (ok), They are short staffed (ok), They are new (?), and they are very conscious of the food quality so they may take more time. The last point is the most troubling given the execution. I could forgive a lot for spectacular food but this was sadly not the case. Everything was a bit over seasoned and VERY heavy handed on the herbs which overpowered the flavors of the food. The tuna was not sliced correctly so it was falling apart. The salad was not dressed before it was plated (the dressing was simply poured over the top and not mixed at all).Dessert was good (although it was pie-chicks not made in house) but it was also lacking on the execution from little things like sloppy plating to bigger things like the key lime pie was not served cold enough so the custard was starting to loosen up / get melty.I would expect after waiting so long because they were so focused on the food quality that at minimum the salad could be dressed, especially at this price point. We could overhear the people behind us complain that their meals came out cold as if they had been sitting too long. The manager came over to tell them that they serve the food immediately so it was not the issue. No matter what the cause, the fact remains that the food was cold and arguing the technicalities is not a great look.To add insult to injury, when we finally received our entrees a server dropped a tray with the meal for one member of our party. Dropped trays happen and somehow always in the worst possible moment, I don't fault him for that. But the response was pretty sloppy. They quickly picked up the dish and most of the spilled food but there was no mop to be seen and when we left there was still cole slaw on the floor.

This was one of our worst experiences on the island unfortunately. The value for the price is not there and attention to detail was lacking. Steamers were gritty and gross and the waiters response was “sorry you ordered it, most people know what they are getting into when they order steamers”. The quality and taste of food was not there, service staff did not seem trained or experienced, mosquitos and bugs were all over with no tiki torches or way to keep the bugs away, food came out missing essential condiments and utencils, price fix locks you into an expensive meal (which would be fine if everything else was delicious!) . The dessert and coffee came out cold and all the waiter said was sorry. Sunset was beautiful - that’s about it.
