I have attached an image of what the owner claims is a beloved pet of the store he would not trade for anything less than a new car. There is no water in this pet's bowl, and the cage is clearly dirty and uncleaned. There were other snakes in their cages that did not have water bowls. The owner was quick to get aggressive when confronted with these conditions. I bought a snake from here anyway, and when it died within a week, the owner was quick to blame me. He said that the 10 minute transport to my home killed the snake, and it was my fault. He was unprofessional at best. He said the snake was "moving" when he gave it to me, and that was a hallmark of it's good health. I would like to mention he gave it to me via spare, used cardboard box he threw the snake into. He then blamed me for not taking it to a vet immediately (ignoring what the vet bills would have cost) and began to lie about how the employee I spoke to on the phone offered to negotiate a fair refund. After insisting that something be done, he offered me half of the snake's selling price in store credit. While the reptile's conditions are poor, the mice and rabbits also seemed to lack water constantly in the two times I have visited. Not offering your animals water is neglect. While this may be a good fish store, many other animals are suffering under their care. I do not and would not support this business at all. I came in expecting a local business dedicated to their animals, and found something else.

The store itself might be great but I called and the person who I spoke with really didn't seem to know what was going on

Had a huge emergency today and Sean was able to get his employees over to open where they were able to help with my dilemma. The fish and water at this place are great! Highly recommend it for your fish needs. VERY helpful when in a bind, great service from the guy Sean sent to help! We left our baby bottle in the shop and he shot me a text! Complete lifesaver because she has special bottles. Thanks again!

Very knowledgeable. I've been fighting a problem with algae in our tank for months, and have tried several products suggested by other pet stores, none of which worked. Fish Nook suggested one simple fix, I tried it and the water was clear within an hour. Do yourself a favor, save your time and money and start here.

I see a few people talking about the staff not being friendly but my experience was different. About 2 weeks ago I was going to get some Guinea pig food and saw the rabbits. The guy working let me hold her and I fell in love with her. Just the other day I went back and bought her. The staff was very friendly and helped me bring everything to my car. I definitely recommend. I also go there for all my pet supplies and they never disappoint 👏👏

It was my first time shopping here, bought some fish for my boys as a Christmas gift. Prices are higher than other stores. The fish immediately started dying within days of them being home. They were placed in a well established planted tank that has never had issues. They are showing signs of ich and fin-rot. One has already died and I'm trying to save the other two in a quarantine tank. The return policy is basically "if they want to" and store credit only. I will shop elsewhere.

Excellent staff, very helpful. Had a good ten minute conversation when I went in to buy some aquatic plants, clerk showed me the inventory and explained the care of a variety of the plants sold, and said that if I was looking for a plants, that they were getting a shipment ordered in. The prices of some items may be a bit high, but they are often more higher quality than brands you’d find at other pet stores.Their driftwood is also affordable priced, along with having a good variety of the stuff. If you’re having difficulty finding something, or have questions, the staff were ready to help, whereas most big name shops have staff that aren’t quite as knowledgeable.

This pet store is overall not vary nice. The pet selection was pretty good and the staff were nice, but on the other hand the store was quite dirty and the prices were vary high, even considering it is a small pet store. I would not recommend going to this store Unless you are in need of pet supplies and have no where else to go.

I am a fresh water aquarium enthusiast, but I don't have a lot of time to research how the different species interact. The advice from the staff I get is incredible. They are patient, informative, and knowledgeable. If I ask a question that the person helping does not know they will find someone on staff that does. The live stock is incredible.

Cute little place. The workers are very nice and accommodating. They let my 6 year old hold a bunny there and ask all the questions she wanted .

I used to work here back when Bill Bright ran the place. It was great then. It is great now. The new ownership has certainly changed things and put his mark on the business, but he has maintained the exceptional knowledge and customer service that this shop was always known for AND managed to keep a small local pet shop in business when MANY of his competing small stores have failed. No small task.

I have been going to the fish nook for 25 years now. I live much closer to so many other pet shops, but nothing comes close to the service, knowledge, and quality of their products. They take such care of their fish and make sure that they are in the best condition for when you bring them back to your house. Sean and Nick know literally everything you need to know about salt and freshwater fish. They'll test your water quality for free and are loaded with so many solutions to so many different problems. They have a customer for life and I tell everyone and anyone who will listen that this is where you go!-Moe

Lots of people writing reviews have said that the staff are terrible but I think they have really been helpful. Once someone who worked there sat down with us and worked for a long time to fix a problem with our hamsters cage. The fish are really pretty but there aquariums don't look very clean. Also, the place itself doesn't look very clean. I think that the rodents there are taken pretty good care of, but some of the cages aren't big enough. One guinea pig was half the size of his cage. The Guinea Pigs and Hamsters are very tame. We have bought two Hamsters there and two Guinea pigs. All have been playful and happy. Lastly, we boarded our Guinea pigs at the fish nook once, and when we got there, the cage was due for a cleaning and no water was in their bottle. To sum it up, I think that the Fish nook deserves three out of five stars.

A good selection of fresh and saltwater fish and corals, as well as some birds, reptiles, and small mammals. Staff are always quite helpful. Prices are a little on the high end, but not excessive. What sets these guys apart from the rest are the extras: lots of useful advice on aquarium setup and maintenance, home visits for pet feedings/maintenance when you're on vacation, and even assistance moving aquaria from one house to another. Basically a nice local, small business pet shop that I hope sticks around for a long time.

Fintastic assortment of tropical and salt water fish. I left with a school of fish for my 3 tanks but I almost bought one of the cheaper used tanks that were available. I’m definitely hooked on the fish nook. Locally owned and operated.

Selection of fish was awesome, the staff was very friendly and not pushy that you sometimes get at large chain stores. Staff willing to talk and give advice to a future project. Took the time to explain options. We will be back and recommend to our friends.

I like this place for fish decently. They could treat their bettas a bit better but in general they know a lot about fish and the aquadic plants and the tank sizes look good and clean. (With the exception of the bettas who are in 3cup little plastic containers right next to each other and it looks like the water doesn't get changed as often as they should be). I would not buy another type of animal from this place. It has the feeling of a fish store that wanted some extra income so they expended to rodents and reptiles.

i hate to leave a three star review, but i think the service and everything here is great and i adopted my guinea pig from here for who i’m so grateful for, however she was sick and dehydrated when we adopted her but we were able to help her get all the way better and I think that it helped her realize we are the good hoomans, so it’s not a totally bad thing. i just think that they can do a little bit better of making sure everyone is healthy and that all :)

I've shopped here for two years now and I love it! Not only is the staff friendly and helpful, but easy going and accommodating! My two guinea pigs also thank them for having their favorite foods and snacks! 😋

I was in today after hearing stellar reveiws from customers of mine (i also work in a pet supply shop), and i was astonished by the conditions the animals were kept in. The rabbits and guinea pigs hardly had any hay, bedding was pushed to the edges and they were mostly laying on the bare plastic, water looked dirty, cages were small and just lined on shelves. The cages are small and didn't have room for any exercise, stretching, or even laying down or standing up straight. No enrichment at all for them and nothing to chew on, and i don't recall if i even saw a bowl of pellets for them. I highly doubt they are getting any veggies either. I felt so so bad for the animals there. I own 9 guinea pigs, 2 rabbits, a bearded dragon, and 2 cats. I can safely say i won't be going back to this shop again. Very disappointed to see that the only treats for sale as well where all Vitakraft yogurt drops and such, and the only food they carried was the kind with junk pieces mixed in it. You do know rabbits and guinea pigs are herbivores and can't digest dairy yogurt drops right? It seems this shop only cares about making money and does not care about their animals. I used to recommend this shop as an alternative for items not available in the store i work in, but i will no longer be directing any of our customers over there. :c

Super friendly staff. I often see the employees handling and caring for the small animals. They never hesitate to let my kids hold something if it's reasonable; it helps the animals acclimate to human touch. They acquire their animals from local breeders, where they are cared for and not farmed in filth like the animals bought by big box stores.

My boyfriend and I went in here today and were kinda shocked at the conditions for the animals inside. The store felt dirty right when we walked in and we looked at very desperate mice try to get some water (almost all the cages were out of water). One mouse was desperately clawing for water from the drip. Then we went to see the reptiles and the tanks literally had cobwebs in them they hadn’t been cleaned for so long! We went to tell the cashier there was no water and sounded like he honestly could’ve cared less. Made me sick to my stomach!

Do not buy animals from here. My friend bought a few guppies from their store, and from the pictures she sent, all of their animals, and I mean ALL of them, were kept in awful conditions. She bought some from there to diversify her colony's genetics, and I took a few in her tank a week later and put the fish in two quarantine tanks I had a few other fish living in temporarily. Now four of our tanks have been infected with roundworm, a disease that is both almost impossible to eradicate in the aquarium, and is contagious to humans. The guppies have been breeding in the quarantine tanks for 7 months now, and it's absolutely heart wrenching to see them die off so often and so gruesomely. We will be euthanizing them all via clove oil next week, because we've tried everything there is. Every medication, every technique, everything. If I could give this store a lower review, I would. Please do not buy fish or any other animal from them, your health might really depend on it.

My mom and I often go to the Fish Nook to get food for our guinea pig (who we adopted from Petco). However, we highly dislike going there because the animals are kept in a horrible condition. The rabbits are kept in tiny cages despite their size and get no exercise. All they do is sit there silently. Last time my best friend went there she didn't see a food bowl in one of their cages, and her family was sold things they didn't need or want. Twice, me and my mom have walked in with more than half the pet's water bottles empty. The cages are dirty and none of the animals are happy or well taken care of. Overall, the Fish Nook does not nurture or care for these animals, and they should not be living in this condition. If you want to get a pet, go a proper company that will properly take care of these pets.

Please do not buy animals in this store. They keep them in terrible conditions. The cages are small and dirty. It looks they never were cleaned. Animals even don't have clean water. For example rabbit doesn't have space to stretch. I have no idea how healthy animal can live in such conditions. But after reading other reviews I understood they just feed them antibiotics to hide sickness. The animal should have vet record that says it doesn’t have any disease especially Chlamydia. I asked about one pet and salesperson told me it doesn’t have any vet records but it healthy. What else he could tell me?It was very painful to look at all of this. I had filling that some animals emotionally gave up on their life. How other people could gave more than one star to this place?

I recently purchased some freshwater aquarium plants from Fish Nook. While I was there I was a bit skeptical of buying there because a lot of the tanks had Algea. Since I was going to use these plants in a DSM tank I figured most of it would die off. While preparing the plants to plant I found some snails and MANY snail eggs in the bags the plants came in. I cleaned the plants very well before planting to prevent any kind of pests showing up. 4 weeks later and my tank is crawling with little white worms (either Detritus or Nematodes, I'm guessing.) This is a brand new tank with eco complete substrate. The only way these worms came in are from the plants I purchased. I strongly recommend purchasing your freshwater plants from somewhere that maintains their tanks and plants properly. Also, everything there is anywhere from $5-$20 more expensive than online or even walmart/petco. All I can really say is "Buyer Beware".
