Overall impressed! Lots of variety that I don't see in other grocery chains. Bakery is impressive and also prepared foods looked good. Clean restrooms are located at front of store (left door as you're looking at the store from the outside). This is convenient since most grocery stores have their bathrooms in the back. Floral section is also very nice! Lots of different flowers and plants. Floral employee answered my questions but wasn't very friendly. Doesn't mean the flowers aren't pretty though. Selection is nicer looking than other similar grocery stores. If I lived in the area I would shop here.

Five stars for the Pharmacy & curbside pickup staff. Highly professional, kind and prompt. If you need a vaccination or a refill, it's an excellent choice.The app ordering and curbside pickup is also top notch Picked up groceries in gale force winds and torrential downpour. Had to dodge a massive falling tree limb in the road on the way home. They still did curbside pickup.Great produce but the prices are HIGH

*** Crazy that after I finished this review, I scrolled down and saw that this particular Safeway is NOTORIOUSLY RACIST!!! So now I can say that we are NOT alone. This is how they operate.Editing my review after two years because I am highly disappointed. We literally live around the corner and we come here maybe twice a week sometimes more when we need things and short notice. No matter what day we come we are treated as if we are shoplifting or about to runoff with the cart that we have and it’s very bizarre, and hurtful.And from what we deduce is that it is racial profiling. Constantly I’m tired of having to dress up and put on make up to feel as though maybe I need to look more presentable as a black person to shop here. And it doesn’t work. I’m tired of there being no lanes open, so I can avoid self check out, so we’re not stared at. And we’re also tired of when we ask for help being given the cold shoulder or eyerolls, and Ignored. When we ask to stop being stared at, they finally walk away, but it’s never ending. When is enough enough?I asked for the store managers name by a gentleman who worked in customer service and he told me there wasn’t one. I wrote a letter to corporate spoke with a very friendly person who represented the store, but surprise surprise, the actual store manager ignored the entire situation, and so therefore I’m leaving this review, so anybody else in my position understands that it’s not just you. All I asked is for a conversation as to what WE are supposed to do, or a conversation with her staff and she, Kim, has ignored the opportunity to have one. This means she either agreed with, or condones this behavior of not only her manager, but her staff. We avoid coming here and we try just to order online so that way we don’t feel so uncomfortable. Literally, the only time we do feel comfortable is when Dayna is working she is one that has made us feel welcome, and actually taught me how to use the app. Thank you Dayna for being impartial and kind. And 2024, we understand that there are things happening in the world that are bad. But to be treated this way is on just and it is disappointing. Our AmEx spends the same as a non person of color, we don’t need to steal. Once again,Black and Brown buyers, beware.

Best cake selection, occurred after hours, late on a Sunday night (okay 10:00 p.m. is late where I come from). Pretty sure they're open till midnight.This Safeway has things that GIANT doesn't have in stock. The customer service here is A1 Bless the Staff's hearts for coming during this COVID-19 pDarnedemic.

Went there for the first time today. Felt racially profiled as I am an African American female. Was there with my two children grocery shopping for the week and a Hispanic employee hovered over us at self checkout like we were going to shoplift, but she did not do this to other shoppers and walked away as soon as we finished. Felt very uncomfortable. Will fine another place to grocery shop.

I had a disagreement with my partner and from this moment on. I had the staff eye me and my partner from start to finish. Not only that but also the staff is rude and like to assume even after my partner and I quickly put away our differences. We were and are weirded out these people follow us non stop. The manager seems nice but I def noticed her following me as a man and my partner after we socialized with her normally and her staff. PeopleOften like to assume because I seem “serious” I must be a bad guy. It’s sad that we live in a country that’s so close minded and sexist that a man can’t have a difference of opinion with his partner because he will possibly be harassed non stop by those people or women who love to assume. Most of the time I ignore it. But sometimes it’s like “enough guys,go see a therapist. My partner and I are doing just fine”.

I asked if the fish came in today. The lady working in the fish section said they are all fresh so that shouldn’t matter. The red snapper I got from there today smells pretty bad, so I had to go back and return.Also, the cashier Sofia stopped me from doing the survey about customer satisfaction. I was about to use the credit I got from the return, and a satisfaction survey popped out. I was trying to press 0 (the lowest), she saw that and quickly pressed skip. I asked why and she said sorry most people will skip that part so I thought you will do that too.I used to like this store a lot. Some staff here are great. However, some other staff are not so great at all.

Terrible customer service. I’ve been shopping at this location for 10 years now for convenience, and customer service seems to get worse every time—practically non existent. Plus not a single smile from the staff.My last two visits: I had to wait 15 minutes at the customer service counter for someone to come. The lady (manager I believe) who eventually showed up was very rude and seemed bothered when I explained my problem of being charged the wrong amount, like did not want to help me with the matter or it was an inconvenience for her to have to come out of wherever she was to help out a customer. The other time, I had asked a staff at the checkout if they could help me locate an ice cream brand that I see on the Safeway app being “in stock” but could not find in store, and she shrugged her shoulders indifferently, saying “I’ve never seen that before,” despite me showing them on the app that it says it is in stock. No help whatsoever.

It is generally a great place to shop. The staff are nice, the store is clean, and they are not overly overpriced. The product variety is great, and the rewards program is easy to use. I will say that I have had experiences in the past where some of food I bought was expired, but recently that has not happened to me.

The service here is super friendly, it seems like they run a very tight ship.One of the best things about this Safeway is there Starbucks. In the mornings there is a Asian Starbucks employee who is the best barisa around she will hook you up. She always makes the right suggestions. She's also aligned with my taste.During lunch, the employees behind the hot food counter are friendly and considerate. They do the little things like dunking your chicken in the sauce before serving.My hands down freirich chicken to buy at Safeway is the mango habanero it's a must-try. The rotisserie or by piece, the chicken is fairly priced and very tasty.

I stopped in for the first time on a quiet Monday morning. I was impressed. It's well stocked, has a pleasant atmosphere and boasts a Starbucks. I only needed a few things and found them easily. The cashier was very friendly.

This is my local neighborhood Safeway store, and it is probably the worst one I have ever been to, which is rather frustrating. The self-checkouts are always broken and cannot be fixed by staff, there are never enough lanes open at peak periods with human beings at the registers, the items in the freezer are always warmish and soft and there are usually puddles on the floor in front of the freezers, and they lock the second set of doors before 9 p.m., so woe is you if you are heading towards them with your arms full of bags and discover that they have already locked them. The staff does not try particularly hard to please, and acts in general as if they are simply tolerating your presence, rather than welcoming you at the store as a shopper.

My experience at this Safeway as a customer and former employee has been mostly excellent. Management, other employees, and customers were enjoyable to work with, kind, and often willing to go the extra mile to be of service. It would be impossible to name each individual but I remember and still appreciate each kindness shown to me. No place of business or employment is without problems, difficult situations, or difficult people and I certainly encountered some of this. Largely, I found my experience there as a customer and employee memorable and enjoyable. I also enjoyed the wide range of ethnicity amongst the employees and customers,family-like atmosphere, and the "regulars" that came to the store.I was very pleased with the selection in the store, the cleanliness, the location with easy access to so many other popular businesses, and the Starbucks located in the store. It is my observation that on holidays such as Christmas and Valentines Day a special effort was made in many different ways. I found these times of the year to be truely magical at Safeway. Although the prices may have been higher, some of the store sales and savings through the Safeway App were absolutely phenomenal!! I remember buying a beautiful Christmas item originally priced at $20 for $2.The bathroom issue requires it's own paragraph. I too noticed issues with the bathroom but in retrospect I saw employees cleaning the bathroom on a regular basis. It seems that this issue may have been more of a customer issue and the customers personal value system rather than a Safeway issue. I personally do not believe in going into any business, making a big mess, and expecting the employee to clean up after me even if they are paid to do so.Thank you Safeway employees and customers!!!❤❤❤

Very clean and very polite courteous staff. They were polite to my elderly mother who made numerous mistakes in self check-out and had to have someone constantly come unlock the self check out register. Great job Safeway I'll take you over Wally world (Walmart) any day.

My family has been using this Safeway for more than 20 years. We used to really like it. Things have changed. If you need to use the restroom, hold your breath. The restrooms are, always, in a state that is nothing less than yucky. If you need help, you should be prepared to help yourself. Nobody wants to help in that store! Recently, while using the self checkout line, I needed help help. It took several minutes before anybody came to assist. When she did, she announced she had no card and had to go find one. That was the last I saw of her. Another woman came over, ostensibly to help. I explained to her that two of the items I purchased came up with prices different than what we're labeled. She got pretty huffy and said she was going to go look at the prices for herself. I decided to go along with her. The first price matched just as I'd say it. The second price she claimed was different however the tagged read the price I said it was. She said it was in the wrong place. She pointed at the tag it's proof. The prices in great big bold letters or numbers. However, the description is in print so small that my aging eyes can't read it. Also, not in plain English, rather it's in abbreviated store jargon that I wouldn't be able to recognize anyway. The ongoing rudeness, the consistent stench of the bathrooms, The limited selection, which has been a problem since Albertsons bought Safeway, and the regular bad experience we have at the store has caused us to decide to regularly purchase our groceries at Food Lion on Rockville Pike. The people at Food Lion or friendly. The selection is fine. The store is recently renovated. Most importantly, they treat us with kindness, courtesy, and respect. It matters!

Today was fabulously beautiful day, so I decided to go on a long walk 27 miles. I stopped at Safeway to get drink, snacks small portion grapes, 2 peaches... I asked a guy in meat section if he could wash my fruits and of course he said yes. I thanked him. But at the check out the cashier dropped one of my peaches and she was going to pick it up and put back, but I told her I just take one. It was kind disappointing, because it was washed and ready to be eaten. This is how I boost my energy.

I've been grocery shopping here for years and as other reviewers have written, I've overlooked the high prices here due to the convenience and customer service. My experience there this past Monday after work has made me re-think my grocery shopping strategy going forward. At 7 PM 2 of 4 self service kiosks were out of service, 2 express lanes open, one with the light turned off so many people didn't go on line there as it was thought the lane was closing. I went to a large order lane even though I only had about 12 items, then the cashier put the express lane light on but by then it was too late to switch back. Every line was backed out into the food aisles, including the 2 large order lanes. No manager in sight, nor was the front end supervisor making any announcements for more checkers or baggers to move people along. I finally got out at 8:00 with my $42 order. I used to go to the Veirs Mill Safeway after getting off the Metro at Twinbrook but stopped because of the long lines there. It now appears that since that store closed this Safeway has decided to adopt the same managerial techniques. For my small orders I'll probably go to Target now and if the long lines here become the rule rather than the exception, I may take my large grocery orders to Shoppers or Target, despite the inconvenience.As an update to my review, since posting this we have switched to Aldi's for our large orders. Safeway's prices are too high, and I found out after a recent visit that they are very lax in taking down sale signs which dates have expired. To me, that's demonstrates very poor management. I wish that I could say that I would never shop there again but they are too convenient to ignore.

This location has some of the worst customer service. 3 times now weeks apart I have come to this location and fresh food wasn't put out at there hot bar section next to the deli. Once I asked if I was just early they told me they didn't have to have anything out till 1030. I shopped came back at 1045 and nothing. On the same visit employees where joking about how no one really worked there. On another visit I was told they where running 30 mins late putting hot food out this time it was 1 pm. The worst part is the same employee who said 30 mins late just disappeared after telling me that. Guess what? There wasn't anything put out 30 mins later again. Yesterday I made a trip and an employee creeper watched me while did self checkout. I took the opportunity to let them know I had been there 3 times at different times and they had either no hot food or less than half the items. Not out of them just never made. They pretended not to hear me and walked away. This all happened after one day I asked if they had orange juice in small cartons rather than the big jugs and was told to look at the fridge Infront of me and figure it out. I hate avoiding this one as it's on my way on morning trip everyday and sometimes afternoon and evening. The other Safeway has great customer service but is out of the way for me so back to giant for me.

Small store, great variety. Always tidy, and they keep plenty of registers open to expedite checkout. It's my fav neighborhood grocery store (a neighborhood that also has 2 Giants that, despite their large size, have remarkably little variety). I also find their produce to be some of the best in the immediate area. I'm a big fan of fruit, and unripe, over ripe, or just sour/bland taste is common in grocery store fruit. This Safeway's fruit, however, is almost always great, tasty stuff. I stop here just for their oranges in the winter (bags of "heirloom navels"). I've already buzzed through 5 bags, and I DON'T juice anything. I eat whole fruits.The only nasty point would be some of the cashiers. I try to be nice to them, attempt to chat, but the only response is to coldly ignore me. Customer service is still important even after the age of covid.

I bought groceries from them and the fruit was molded inside and the juice was old and I don't trust them anymore with fresh produce or dairy. I'm going to Aldi for my fresh produce needs, they never disappointed me and I didn't lose money on my food feeding the trash can. Safeway's food isn't too safe.

Customer service WILL is the worse I’ve ever had. I use my gift card at self check out. It charge me the amount instead of minus the gift card amount. So WILL from customer service credit the amount was charge on my receipt. then he use my gift card amount on the computer and said it minus out from my balance. Which it never did. I came back to the store show him my credit card statement picture and the gift card was never credit. He kept my original receipt on that day and he said he did not. I ask him to check the store camera on the date and time that was occur and he will see that he kept my receipt in his hand. He refused to check the recorded camera. So I still don’t know what he do with the amount of my gift card. But my gift card is now empty. This is very upsetting.

This is my favorite grocery store in the area. We have a Giant next door but will drive the extra 10 minutes to come to this Safeway. Easy parking, rarely crowded, well organized, clean, and almost always well stocked.

I like the convenient location, and the store overall is nice - clean, spacious, and with large selection of fresh produce. It's a tad bit pricey but great for quick grocery runs
