It has been one year since we bought Olive from here! She has become integral to our lives and we love to spoil her with goodies and love.Murad told us he wasn't sure of the bird's gender at the time but offered to give us the means to do so. He had to clip a claw to get a blood sample that was then blotted on a document for us to send off to Animal Genetics to determine the gender.My only criticism of Maryland Exotic is that, when we were there a year ago, the cages were a bit dirty, lacked toys, and sometimes housed too many birds. The food for the birds appeared to be primarily sunflower seeds and bread.When I bought Olive I took her to an avian vet a few days after for a checkup, to which the vet said she was in good health but just needed a change of diet and to grow some muscle.Today, Ollie loves to fly all over the apartment, is very vocal, loves to be groomed and have showers, and is on a mixed diet of pellets, seeds, fruits, and vegetables. She is a powerhouse of personality and energy, and I'm so grateful to Murad for providing this life-changing companion!

We got our sweet, lovely baby boy, a male cockatiel, from Maryland Exotic Birds almost a year ago, and he has truly become an integral part of our family. From the very beginning, Murad showed a deep knowledge and genuine love for his birds. Over the past year, our feathered friend has brought immeasurable joy and laughter into our lives. Thank you for a wonderful addition to our family!P.S. Before bringing a cockatiel parrot into your home, I highly recommend taking some time to get familiar with their dietary needs, cage size, general care and etc. So you're ready to provide a happy and healthy environment for your new feathered friend :)

My father is retired and was wanting a cockatiel. This is the first place we went and it was a great experience. He bought a beautiful, all white cockatiel. The owner made sure we left with everything we needed and encouraged us to call with any questions. We had my two children with us, ages 6 and 9, and they had a very nice time seeing and learning about the different kinds of birds.Would definitely recommend this place.

We stopped by twice in the past few years. We were a little skeptical because of some reviews. But they were nice people. A lot of bad reviews are saying how dirty it is. To be honest we have several finches, parakeets (from petsmart) and a conure and cockatiel. It's easier when you have 1 bigger bird that comes out of their cage to clean the cages and area where they sit. When you have several little birds, things can get messy quick and harder to clean and keep up with. So as it wasn't spotless as another bird "farm" we've been to, that other place had bigger birds vs these smaller ones.We bought a cockatiel from them a few months ago. For the first few weeks, I have to admit, I was worried something was wrong. We bought a few zebras, society finches and a canary at the same time and they all seemed fine.My cockatiel just needed some time to warm up to his surroundings. They are all doing great now. My cockatiel loves me and hangs out with me just as my conure does that i had previously.I felt I needed to write a review to give people that extra sense of security.I'm sorry for whatever happened to other people with their birds purchased here. But our birds are doing great. As I don't agree with giving them bread, we were sent home with plenty of food for the different variety of birds we purchased.We will be a returning customer if / when needed.Thank you

If you want a bird and don’t know what and which kind then this is the spot and these are the people. Brother Milal who hosted very well and his father who I spoke to on the phone patiently waited as I was running late but anywho they have over 50 different types of birds and so you are definitely walking out with a bird that is well taken care and mostly hand fed. Went there thinking of getting a green cheek conure but fell in love with an Indian ringneck. Very knowledgeable about his birds and even educated my kids on some tips and tricks. Great people great service and definitely great prices 👍🏽✊🏽

Glad he reached back out in time before I went elsewhere. He has a really good variety of birds at a breeders price which are reasonable and expected . Overall as an experienced bird owner , I’m glad I came to get my first exotic Indian ring neck parrot from this place . Definitely will be getting another one soon from this place . Only downfall is the cages he provide aren’t worth the cost so I recommend for bigger birds to get the cages elsewhere as I did . Excellent experience.

I purchase a canary winged parakeet I was very cheap for this bird now I know why they sold at that price because the bird was sick I got it in may now the bird is deading he also tell me to feed bread to the bird iam very upset I think iam looking to report them because iam broke heart ❤️ the bird is not moving around the cage / my bird just died today 9/23/2023 iam very sad I only have it 4 months and also they don’t have a store the sale the bird in there house my grandkids are heartbroken 💔

Highly recommend to purchase a bird from him as he is very very nice man and knowledgeable, there are alot of birds there and all look very healthy and cared for. We bought a normal gray male cockatiel from him on 9-9-23 and our little buddy is already eating on his own the next day after we got him. If you want a bird this is the place to go.

Bought a beautiful bird that was $150 cheaper than everywhere else.He is 4 months old.They aren’t hand tame when you get them like some other places but the one I picked seems to be either handled some or just kinda more excepting to being held. The owner has 50 years of experience and I can’t tell you how much I love my bird.

***I tried to attach photos to this review but was flagged by Google for being too graphic***I highly recommend anyone wanting to buy a bird here to do Public Information Act request through AACO Animal Control before giving this person any money. We had a horrible experience with Maryland Exotic Birds. Facility was dirty. Birds were fed wild bird food and moldy bread. We saw a bird in horrible condition that the owner swore was "perfectly good", we took him home but he died within a week even with vet care. The owner refused to speak with me when I called him to let him know what happened. Horrible business, please avoid.***I see that the owner has responded to my review. Please note that he is outright lying, I was sent home with a bag of Wild Bird Seed and a piece of white bread.

I got no words to describe how good of a bird place this is! We got two little sassy parakeets from here a couple months and they are really healthy and clean. Customer service was also really good, reasonable prices, and a variety of birds. Will 100% recommend this place, will be going back soon to get a cockatiel or a small parrot.

Very knowledgeable and helpful owner.Wide selection of happy healthy birds at very reasonable prices.I went in looking for one bird and left with six of the most beautiful feathered friends I've ever seen.The "store" is privately owned and operated out of a home, so appointments are required.I cannot recommend MD exotic birds inc strongly enough!

Just purchased my first cockatiel. Very pretty birds and great verity. I fell in love with the one I chose.Owner is very friendly and willing to show you how to care for the bird and tame the bird. For what I paid for I’m very happy. Also you can ask to have the bird clipped or not. And along with your purchase, he gave me about a months worth of food!Also, people have reviewed about his “shed” and it’s not really a shed, more like a small house and very clean besides some seed on the ground but that’s birds for you!

Do not buy from here. Horrible living conditions. Poop piled up in the cages, disgusting water bowls. The owner feeds them BREAD. Way too many birds of differing sizes crowded together in small cages. Injured birds with no licensed veterinary treatment being given. We saw several birds that had been severely plucked, a Budgie with a growth on the abdomen, a finch with a bloodied wing. We took a bird from here and our exotic vet said its the worst condition he’s ever seen. Unfortunately our bird did not survive. Owners have been reported to animal control. Abismal conditions, and they need to be shut down. I have lots of photos and video of the conditions these birds are living in. For some reason my photos will not attach to this post. I would give zero stars if I could! This place needs to stop housing and selling animals. Feces everywhere, mold, dirty conditions. Birds that are bleeding, have lots of feathers missing, they are hurting each other in the cages due to severe overcrowding. So many injured birds, the owners do not care, nor provide vet visits. Animal control has not been able to shut them down. Absolutely horrible condition.

We had a great experience today purchasing our first bird. The owners are very patient and spent time with us deciding the right fit and how to care for our new pet. It was worth the 30 minute drive and we will be back in a few months for another feathered friend!

This place is great. They are so helpful, lots of birds to choose from, clips the wings and provides starter food. Gives care tips and told is to call with any questions. Definitely recommend if you want a healthy bird as a pet.
