This is definitely a small town store and I love it. They serve food, baked goods, preserves, and so much more! I've lived in La Plata for months and I'm kicking myself for not stopping by sooner. The food is yummy and the staff is amazing! I had the crab cake sandwich and it was by far the best crab cakes I've had. Hubby had the shrimp platter. The shrimp was definitely a good size. I will definitely be coming back. ❤️❤️

Crabcakes are good, but the staff could be a little more friendlier! The younger girls just look at you when you walk in and act like you are putting them out when ringing up your items.

I sadly must say how extremely disappointed I was with two crab cakes that I got on Sun 6-26-22. It was filled with mushy filling, MUCH less crab meat than in the past, extremely over cooked on the outside, bordering on burnt. Not to mention that the price had gone up and the crab cake was smaller as well. I tried to call them, but their phone has been disconnected. Very weird! Has there been a mgmt change or a cook change? This has been the ONLY place I would go to for crab cakes for many years, but yesterday was beyond disappointing. Is this what we all are going to expect from now on? Extremely depressing and will probably push me to get my crab cake kick somewhere else!!

The sausage egg and cheese is great! Overall great food. I wish they would run the 2 for 4 deals on the energy drinks and also double check your order. I had asked to hold some things off my sandwich and by the time I got to eat it at work I found that it wasn’t made correctly even tho I saw the young lady write it down. Also you can get some local food in here too. I recommend stopping in!

What a nice little County Store. Staff is very friendly. Food was very good. Some prices, like soda refill was a bit high, but other items were reasonable. Have a great assortment of home made snack / desert items and regular lunch food are made fresh there.Great place

Crabcake sandwich was $18.it was the worst crabcake I ever had it was over cooked on the outside and had a Mushy filling in it with little pieces of lump crab meat.I pay $27 for one Pure leaf ice tea a Pepsi soda a bag of lay’s chips and a crabcake sandwich. When you spent $18 for a crab cake you should be able to eat the whole thing. I didn’t eat nothing but the inside of the crab cake because the outside was cooked too hard. You would think of getting a bag of chips or something with it for $18. I got Got never again…….,I will never go there again it’s overpriced and it’s not worth it.

Best fried chicken I have had in a long while. Cost is better than the chain places and the flavor is ten times better. Great place to grab dinner drinks and desert on the way home or just pick up some snacks for later.

Love this little local convenient store. That is little more then just a convenient store. They carry fresh meat. So if you need something to make for dinner stop in and grab a few fresh (frozen) steaks or hamburger from local Amish farm. At Christmas they had platters of crab balls. They were a hit at Christmas Eve dinner.

I have to say the food is very good here. The help could have better manners there is one particular lady and one Lil fella that could use a good course in customer service. Also by all means please order and pick up at the right windows!!! This is a big deal to the employees behind the counter.. Order at the front window and pick up on the side furthest away from the register Lol!! Anyway I will still be a happy customer just have to smile and feel bad for them because that seems to be the high light of their day..

Great crab cakes. Referred to them so I'm happy to pass it on. No fillers, no peppers, etc., just crab. They would have crowds I think if they had a shaded place to sit and eat. Down home real country Maryland.

This is the quintessential "Country Store". A bit of everything to get you through the day so you don't have to go all the way into to town. If you need a good home cooked meal, you're in luck. A friendly member will great you with a smile like you're family. Gas, groceries, lottery, cold drinks, Amish homemade baked goods, ATM, hot and cold sandwiches, good food and much more.

Some of the staff are friendly; most, in fact. The owner is a very nasty, vile woman. When I asked for assistance for purchasing a lottery ticket, a friendly clerk attempted to help me, to which the woman yelled, "DON'T HELP HER; SHE CAN FIGURE IT OUR HERSELF OR NOT GET ONE AT ALL!" I was buying a ticket for someone else and am not familiar with all the lingo so was asking a simple question. When I asked who she was, they said the owner!I live very close by and before this experience have made small purchases here and there. For the longest time, they charged you a fee for using a credit card if it was under $10 but since have stopped that.As to the *GAS*, i cannot stress enough not to buy it there. When i was extremely low on gas, I put $8 in my tank just until I got to La Plata (10 minutes away) and my gas went down to nearly empty. They water down their gas.If you are in a pinch, then yes, there are some limited grocery items, but expect to pay far more than you would a 7-11 or regular grocery store. I have noticed they buy things from stores where you can see brand labels such as Safeway or Giant on them, and they charge you 3x the amount you would pay if you had bought them from the original store it came from your self. I am certain this is an illegal practice.Overall, avoid if all possible. The owner is a b***h! Her husband owns the store as well but you never see him in there anymore.

Just left Cooksey after purchasing 4 of their infamous crab cake dinners and a side order of hush puppies. The employee who prepared our meal was hungry and decided to eat a few wedges while he was preparing our meals. There's no problem with grabbing a bite, however, when you use the same gloves that you just ate with and that touched your lips, to then continue to prepare meals without changing your gloves, that's a problem. My husband nicely asked him to change gloves and he caught an attitude. The food here is good, however, we will no longer patronize this establishment while the staff serving food is non-chalant and careless about food safety.

I Have to dis-agree with gentleman, deli folks are never polite . I will never give them anymore of my money.I politely told lady I had ants in my cup of soda..she was very nasty and said we are in the country this what you can expect. That I had let it run and it will be ok. Really if wanted to be nasty I could call the health department on them. Really food is over price and it doesn't taste that great. Watch your food and drinks.

Convenient for those living in the Dentsville area. Good variety of products, the grill adds a nice touch to this cointry store, just a little pricey. I understand profit margins, but sales would increase if pricing was realistic.

The food was good but that lady with the red hair was being extremely rude. Would definitely go back, but that red hair lady needs to go! They would have gotten 5 stars of it wasn’t for this rude woman

Their food is good but the old lady that works upfront needs to go. She has such a bad attitude and is going to drive business away. You can't get anything with out her giving a major attitude

Experienced very poor customer service. Young gentleman behind the counter was extremely rude. I asked if they had a public restroom and he said very curtly no! Made no eye contact or offered any other services of their establishment. I do not recommend this place.

Great convenience/country store with gas pumps. It has friendly staff with all the usual items(sodas, water, snacks and hot food) as well as local crafts and products.

Melvin has the best crab cake all year long and everything else that stopped to buy when on the way home to Va. Mon. -Fri. and he and his wife are nice people
