I don't visit Smith Hardware often because it's a little out of the way, but it is certainly worth the detour. I stopped in a few weeks ago on my way home from somewhere else looking for a painters drop cloth. I had priced them elsewhere and expected to pay a premium, but I couldn't be more wrong. Smiths was lower than the big box stores. When I walked in, I was greeted by two young men and offered assistance, which I politely declined. I found what I needed and headed to the registers. There was one other person that was being rung up, but when one of the young men who had greeted me earlier saw me walk up, he interrupted his conversation with two other employees and opened another register to help me. You don't get service like that anywhere anymore!

Came in today about a $129 STIHL BG 50 Handheld Blower that they apparently don't sell. Very disappointing you guys advertise products that you don't have. Nice game to get customers into store what a waste of time.

We love supporting local small businesses in our community whenever possible and avoiding the big box stores as much as we can. My concern is always whether a small store will have what I need and I must say that every single time I have needed something in a pinch for my home, Smith Hardware has had a great option to get the job done, and at a fair price. I get rewards that build up over time and most importantly, the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. There is something truly special about walking into a store with staff lined up at the entrance, eager and ready to help. It's truly like going back in time compared to modern chain stores where you have to wander aisles begging for assistance, only to be given low quality advice. We're lucky to have this wonderful store here!

They hire a lot of kids here, but they know their stuff. I've been here several times and every time I come in they are friendly, and ask what I'm looking for. Each time they always know exactly which aisle the thing I'm looking for is in. Their prices are a little higher sometimes, but I'd rather support a local business than a big box store any day. Top notch service here.

Went to get some tomato cages since the big boxes seem to have decided they're done with tomato season. While I was there took a shot at getting some supplies and hardware for various other projects - this place is remarkably well stocked with and staffed with helpful people who know the store and can actually tell you where things are. Saved me trips to like four other places that were on my errand list. This is only a report on my most recent trip there, but all have been overwhelmingly positive. A little bit out of my way personally but this place is going to become my go-to hardware store if they keep this up.

I have been a fan for as long as I can remember! It is a very rare occasion that Smith Hardware doesn't have what I need. You can rely on them for seemingly anything you need to do for home and farm. On that rare occasion that you need something they don't have in stock, chances are they can order it for you! I enjoy going there and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have earned my trust so it makes it easy to support a local hometown business over the internet and the big box stores! 👍👍

I love Smith Hardware. The staff is so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. If they don't have what you need or they're not sure how to help you, they don't hesitate to tell you and recommend somewhere to go. But I find that 99% of the time, they can help and have what I need.If you're close by, definitely stop in for a visit.

I’ve been going to Smith’s Hardware for 40 years and I do so knowing that the items may be slightly more expensive than at an orange big box store. I could drive to Bel Air and back and burn close to an hour or go 5 minutes away and pay a slight premium for convenience. When I read reviews here and someone is complaining about a key or a battery that cost a dollar more I just shake my head. I’m just grateful that they have found a way to survive and continue to serve the Jarrettsville area. Thank you!

There is a wider variety of products offered then you would expect and it really is the quintessential small town hardware store. Most of the staff is extremely helpful and friendly, but there are a few staff members who can be rude and not willing to help.Overall I would recommend this location when in need and not wanting to drive all the way into bel air for the larger hardware stores. They truly have an impressive selection.

Smith Hardware is one of a few small businesses in the area that I rely on to help run my small business smoothly. I took a few large hydraulic hoses in this week - they had the parts to make new ones, and did it while I waited. Great service.

The employees are always friendly and helpful. It's very close to my house so it is very convenient. They have anything from paint to bird seed to grills and mulch. Seems like the store has modernized since I have been there lately.

Needed a chain for my 20y/o Echo chainsaw. I walked in the door and was immediately greeted by Katherine. She looked at my old chain, walked me right to the isle. Turns out, they didn’t have that chain on the shelf. She took my chain downstairs and made one up within minutes. The cost was less than $30. Great! I got home and the chain didn’t fit my bar. I went right back up. Katherine recognized me, asked what was wrong, and again, immediately jumped into action to correct the problem. The correct chain cost me another $5, which I gladly paid for.Bottom line, you can’t pay enough for great customer service, knowledge and experience!Thank you Katherine and Smith Hardware!

I love the helpful employees, especially when it comes to the paint. Someone really asked me the right questions and we created the perfect color. Truth be told, it was mostly her. This review is from my husband... Smith hardware is a local store that the big box stores can take a lesson from. They have plenty of staff on hand, ready and willing to help you. They are knowledgable, helpful, polite, courteous. Real cashiers not machines, help you pay for your purchase. Also, Their prices often match the big stores. The ace hardware rewards program is good too.I earn rewards often and when they put on sales, they are very good. Thanks Smith hardware for excellent service to your community.

Great local place. Employees are attentive and actually help you when you need advice on a home project or picking out the right part. Been going there 30 years. Not as cheap as a big box store, but the customer service more than makes up for it.

The staff is great. They always greet you and are always ready to help you save time by helping you find whatever it is you need and they are knowledgeable on all of their products.The prices are higher but Im just used to buying from the depot. I do wish they stayed open a little later in the spring and summer.

Nifty Ace hardware store conveniently located. The new addition compliments the charming older section. Better yet the staff knows where everything is and are quick to help. Prices are fair--some higher and some equal to the big box stores. Twice this store had what the others didn't.

I went there looking to get 3 keys made.. I asked the guy prior to having the keys made that if they were over $3 do not bother to make them..After he made them he check to see the price..They were 3.99... What a ripe out...could have gone to home depot the next day..you live and learn...

This is absolutely the best hardware store around! Unless it's packed which is only occasionly you can't get 3 steps in the door without someone offering to help you find what you need. Each and every employee Is more attentive than any you'll find at the larger hardware stores. And now that they have Expanded their store they have just about anything you need.

Always have what you need. A little more expensive than the bulk hardware stores but well worth it for the service that the staff provides plus convenience. The products are superior to those other stores, which also makes the small price difference worth it. Great store for almost everything you need.
