The food was good, the atmosphere was adorable and cozy. I was disappointed with our waitress. As I felt like she was annoyed by us or something. She was very short responding when asked a question about the menu. Then I watched as she took orders from a table with all older customers and she was joking and laughing with them (total opposite of how she acted when my family was ordering food) I tried to let it go but she continued to be passive aggressive or rude. My husband doesn’t want to go back because of that experience. My kids enjoyed it and it was the best Mac and cheese we’ve ever ordered from a restaurant. We may try again one day in the summer and hope for a different service experience.

First time going here. Liked the atmosphere and the music. Ordered lunch as dinner service doesn't start until 3 pm. We ordered deep-fried Lions Mane mushrooms for our appetizer. We hadn't ever had these kind of mushrooms before and liked them a lot. My husband ordered the Cherry Pulled Pork sandwich with french fries and coleslaw. I ordered the Pickle brined fried chicken sandwich with french fries. We were a bit disappointed with our sandwiches. My chicken really had no flavor on the coating or the chicken itself. The french fries are homemade and are good. They have desserts, but we were too full to order any. They offer ice cream too so I'm sure we would stop again if in the area.

Waitstaff are nice but service is slow and food was not good. About a 35 min wait to be seated and about 45 mins to get food. The crab fries with tarter were the best thing we had on the menu. The eggs Benedict with crab was minuscule and cold. Skillet was overly buttery and missing requested bacon. Shrimp and grits were flavorful but scaldingly hot which overcooked the shrimp. 🍤 The restaurant was creative and quirky. Not much to shop for in the form of antiques and gifts besides jarred goods. Their online menu is not current so the items we drove for (lobster rolls) were not offered at all.

My husband, daughter, and I absolutely loved it. Our waitress was so friendly, the food was great, but it was the unique atmosphere that really draws you in. The first floor is filled with antique unique items. My favorite being the tv (I've never seen one that old before). And my daughter and I loved the yellow brick road. Want to go back soon because I liked it that much and to try their ice creams

Amazing!! The store is on the bottom level and the restaurant is on the top floor. The bottom floor had so many dope antiques from a cow hide chair, very cool signs, old lights, a tube tv, unique kitchenware, novelty candies, very unique and cool art, and lots of trinkets. The food was amazing!!!! I got the Reuben and and fries w Cole slaw. The Cole slaw is some of the best I have ever had WOW. They also have a very extensive drink menu including boozy milkshakes! Got all that with a sweet tea. They also had some jarred goods. I got a jar of spicy pickles, apple syrup and maple syrup! Everything was such a positive vibe and so unique. Very cool store to shop and dine at. Worth the stop if you’re passing by!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Vegetarian options: Lots of mushrooms options and salads and appetizers that don’t include meat at all!Dietary restrictions: They had a lot of options with fried mushrooms, they had an appetizer and a sandwich. They also had fried goods that were vegetables not meat like fries, Mac n cheese, salads, apple Cole slaw, lots of the appetizers are vegan/vegetarian except for they were probably fried in the same oil as the meats. Lots of salads though that looked amazing. Extensive drink menu! If you’re looking for an alcoholic beverage they had a ton of options including boozy shakesParking: Over 20 spots in the lot, about 5 spots out front.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly, kids menu as well as kid friendly seating and the concept allows for kids to be a little noisy without it being a nuisanceWheelchair accessibility: There is a sidewalk that connects to the street that goes directly into the double doors that are at the front! Parking lot and street parking both with access to the sidewalk that leads directly to the large front door

We usually go through Hancock while traveling, and we almost always have our dog. I finally looked this up because of a billboard and saw the reviews, we were not disappointed. We made a reservation on Sunday and got seated right away with our dog inside. With the brunch menu we decided to try the crab cake sandwich and the crab kiche, and our dog had chicken livers. We all enjoyed the food immensely and the restaurant saw a lot of business while we ate. We will visit again!Vegetarian options: Lots of Lion's Mane mushroom alternatives on the menu

Very cool restaurant with unique vibes. The food was pretty good. The truffle fries were really good... We had eaten most of them before our waitress noticed that we hadn't received the sauce. The pork belly sandwich was really good. We did get the wrong flavor boozy milkshake but it wasn't bad. Definitely have to try the salmon next time.

I absolutely love this restaurant. It has a really awesome atmosphere with great outdoor seating area! Food is yummy 😋Only, the complaint was that it took a really long time to get our food and it felt like we were forgotten at times.... I still recommend this restaurant if you are passing through Hancock and looking for a fun/neat local restaurant and don't mind the wait time....

This place is wonderful! It is one of the places you find and want to tell all your friends to stop at. We travel with our dog all the time and are always on the lookout for a place that will welcome them like they welcome us. This place is a place like that! Dogs are central to visiting this place. There are dogs inside and out. They have their own menu and get a free pup-cup of ice cream at the end of the meal. The food for humans is great too! We had the biscuits and gravy, don't miss them!! Sunday brunch was fabulous. The only thing better than the food was the friendly staff!! From the folks that greeted us and sat us at a table, to the many servers that stopped by to check on us. Friendliest of all was the manger who talked with us and shared information on the town and the restaurant, and where the love for dogs comes from.We highly recommend this special place.

TLDR: Fun dining atmosphere that has solid food and service. Perfect stop while hiking/biking the nearby trails.Vibe: 5/5. Situated in the small town of Hancock, Buddy Lou's is conveniently located right out the interstate as well as right off a popular hike/bike trail. Both the outside and inside of the restaurant ooze with eclectic decor. Plenty of seating both indoors and out for small and large groups. Upstairs the restaurant has an antique shop, Cracker Barrel vibes anyone? There is definitely a lot to take in at Buddy Lou's, but in the best way possible!Service: 5/5. The staff at BuddyLous was great from start to finish. My large group of 8 arrived 30 minutes early for our Sunday brunch reservation, but fortunately the restaurant already had our table ready, so we were seated immediately. Our waitress handled our table solo and was on point for the entire meal. My group was returning from a 2 day camping trip, so we were extra needy in terms of food and drinks. We ordered several rounds of drinks, appa leading up to our mains and everything was handled with stride. We even had a few to go orders placed during the meal and they came out perfectly at the end. Overall, very impressed with the service received during a peak hour!Food: 5/5. BuddyLous offers an interesting menu that takes your American bistro dishes, but adds their own unique twist. During our brunch service, my group Raided the menu and ordered several cream of crabs, the crab fries, fried green tomatoes, pork belly BLTs, biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits, the BuddyLous burger, lions mane sandwich and the quiche. Everything came out perfectly timed and hot/fresh. Best in show goes to the cream of crab soup, which had huge chunks of backfin in each cup and a well balanced creamy taste. Most interesting of the dishes was the lions mane sandwich. Lightly battered and fried, the mushroom was the size of a softball and had unique taste that paired well with the aioli. The fries were also a hit, as they are hand cut and reminiscent of OC boardwalk/Thrashers style fries. Portions were overall generous and at a more than reasonable price point. If you find yourself in the Hancock area, I highly recommend stopping by Buddylous for a bite! PS. they are also very dog friendly, with their own k-9 approved menu!Vegetarian options: lions mane mushroom sandwich!Parking: there is some street parking both in front and to the rear of the restaurant. There is also a public parking lot across the street, but I believe it is pay to park.Kid-friendliness: plenty of kid friendly food options. There is also a dog friendly food menu if you have fur babies.Wheelchair accessibility: The main dining room does not have stairs but you will need to use stairs to go to the antique shop and the bathroom. The restaurant has enough room between tables to accommodate a wheelchair .

Service is always great and the food never fails to disappoint! I got the fried green tomatoes and the pickle brined chicken sandwich! Both were fantastic!! They used to have ham but now they have these gigantic thick cut slices of bacon and a spicy mustard. Absolutely amazing. I will continue to stop there every time I pass them! Highly recommended.

Have wanted to stop here so many times, and today we finally did. What a pleasant surprise !! More than just dining, this is an experience . A mix of great food, super unique atmosphere , shopping, and a bike ride down the canal if you choose. 🚲 kid and dog friendly...highly recommend if your passing by or looking for a day trip for something a lil different.Kid-friendliness: Lots of lil spots for the kiddos to play and...there's a lil ice shop downstairs

Very good food, with some little twists and food you don't see often. Great atmosphere, and it seemed very friendly. They can be a little slow, but have a cocktail and enjoy all of the historic nicnacks they have on display. Def going again, and to enjoy the rail trail. They even had a bike to use on the trail. And don't forget the ice cream shop downstairs. We just happened to be collecting seashell fossils just west of Hancock and stopped in. Glad we did!

Near walking trails, large parking lot, pay to park but cheap, not much else in the town or near by but this place is worth it. Even if you just stop to sight see it’s worth it. Lots of decorations inside and out. Kitschy, vintage, unique, homemade, carnival, off the wall, everything thing you can think of type of decoration. Very fun place for everything to enjoy. If you don’t enjoy this place you’re just miserable lol

My husband got the bacon meatloaf and it was to die for. I had the seafood Alfredo and it was sensational :) Our son’s hot dog was a major sausage and it tasted so fresh and delicious. A great place to eat…not to mention the cute decor and the wonderful antique store. Do Not Miss this place!PS. Our waitress was Elena and she was very attentive.PS2. The prices were amazing!

This place is so a locals only place I've come here twice while in town the first time it's was almost a hour and half to get water and another hour for food. this time I waited for a hour and a half to be seated the inside was mostly empty. I was told it would be 10 to 15 minutes to be seated and then was told by every server that someone else would be with me. I waited like a fool we finally left and went to als pizza down the road we won't be coming we gave this place a second chance their won't be a third

Absolutely LOVED this place. On our road trip we stopped here because of the charging stations 1/4 mile away, down the trail. We were so excited upon arriving, the store is so cool! I'm not usually an antiques store person, but this place was spectacular! Unfortunately we didn't see any ice cream served, but no worries, we were there for lunch.Service was really slow, but worth it. (Later found out our server left for an emergency but no one told us🤦‍♂️.) The fish & chips were SUPER good, juicy and tender. Fries were home made. We got a chicken sandwich and a salad too. Chicken was overcooked/fried and dry unfortunately.I look forward to trying their ice cream when we do our return trip.Parking: Plenty. Charging station 1/4 down the trail too.

We stopped in for a quick beer and appetizer in the afternoon, it was our first time here. The bar only had 4 seats total so unfortunately we couldn't sit at the bar and had to get a table. Wings and Crab fries were good, we tried to order fried chicken livers and they were out. We both got 1 drink and 1 appetizer and our bill was almost $50

The very definition of kiche, Buddy Lou's is a full service restaurant sitting on top of an antiques shop. Delicious, country style Americana food, with sandwiches in the $15 smackers range. Really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and pickle brined chicken sandwich. The sweet tea was as sweet tea should be, ice cold and sugary sweet. The staff was friendly and prompt and the entire place had a happy, small town vibe to it. Right off the WO&D trail, this is a wonderful place to have a pit stop on your way home from Deep Creek or a day hike.

I adored the atmosphere and the vibrant colors, as well as the assorted knickknacks arranged here and there, that you could buy if you wanted to!The drinks were great, I had a sarsaparilla soda that was homemade. And ate their eggs Benedict, the egg was supposed to be poached, but it ended up hard boiled, which was alright, it tasted just as fine. The flavor was fairly neutral, but it was delightful none the less.I also had the cream of crab soup, which was delicious, it was steaming when it came out to me. The cream was perfect, and there was chunks of soft vegetables mixed in, along with the perfect crab. All portioned superbly.

Delicious food served in a cozy atmosphere. The menu is awesome. Nothing compares to their cream of crab soup. It is the best I've ever had! The staff is super friendly.11/27/2019 - Hubby had the fried bologna sandwich he swears this is the best sandwich on the planet. I had the salmon Ceaser salad and I must say this was the best prepared salmon that I have ever eaten. Can't wait to come back!12/19/2020 - What happened! Our food was terrible this time! The service was awesome; but, the food was seriously lacking. The fried baloney sandwich that my husband craves from here whenever we are in town was a joke. There were three thin slices of baloney that you could read through, the toppings that the menu said would be on it were not.The fried green tomatoes, while tasted good, were over priced. They spent more time putting a ketchup letters on the plate. The apple cobber was a complete embarrassment! It wasn't even a full order. Why sell something if you don't have the means to even make a complete order? The worst part was the tiny portion wasn't even cooked properly.I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the normal cook was out for the day. We were truly disappointed as this our go to restaurant when we are near Hancock and go out of our way to get there. Hope everything straightens out here soon.

I hesitate to leave a poor review but the wait for our food was horrible. We waited an hour and 5 minutes from the moment of seating to be served a kids PB&J and salad (no cooking necessary), a kids grilled cheese, and a burger, which was over cooked and missing grilled onions. The atmosphere was fantastic and the wait staff seemed enjoyable in better circumstances, but they have to do something to figure out the overall dining experience. They claimed to be “slammed” with 7 seated tables in the restaurant… several others were empty

Great food. All kinds of funky stuff to look at. But overall I was really disappointed in the downstairs where they have antiques. There wasn't anything at all to look at. Although it is still worth stopping by for a good bite to eat.Oh and we had to pay for parking which kinda sucked.
