Today is my son’s birthday and this bakery location used to have a great cake decorator who I heard left, but I still used them for birthday cakes. I went to pickup his cake and they didn’t have it. Accused me of calling the wrong Safeway. I had to show them my call log and the guy named Chris who took my order they called and he lied and said he never took my cake order. My call log showed I called them 4 days ago and placed my cake order, they lost my cake order, gave me a junky one from the case and barely apologized. Terrible service. I will not be back to get cakes here. The store is terrible too for groceries. Much better stores in the area.

This store is well lit and inviting. I come here often. However, over the past few months, I haven't been able to buy store brand white bread here. Today, for example, the bakery personnel were walking away with a cart of the bread that I believe was expired. I looked at the remaining loaves of bread, and many of them were dated yesterday, and the remaining ones were dated to expire today. I bought a different, more expensive brand that was dated a week out. This isn't an isolated incident. The bread has been consistently expired each time I went there over the past few months.

I gave it 2 stars because the store is very clean compared to giant. But they are always out of things. Shelves will be empty like there was a hurricane coming and everyone rushed the store. And I’ve seen this on several different occasions. The ready meals section is always empty which is really disappointing. I’ll have to stick with Giant.Also, for the prepared foods they have out, make sure you check the sell by date! I made that mistake and bought food that was past the sell by date. Clearly the shelves are not restocked frequently.

The most miserable shopping experience I've had in a long time. My shopping list had two items - both on sale. The first one was not on the shelf, so I asked for a rain check. The clerk refused because it was not yet the end of the sale. I had to insist several times before I was given one. Then the second item was not on the shelf. I went back for a rain check and was told I could only get one rain check per day. Of course, I insisted on a rain check, so the clerk brought in the manager. Now the story changed: I couldn't get a rain check for "soda" because the first rain check was for "soda". I had to repeat, over and over, that it was for two different brands of soda, two different sizes, and two different offers. When "the manager" finally relented and gave me the rain check, he told me, as if I had done something wrong, that most customers were not so insistent with him. I will NOT shop at this store ever again, and I recommend you do not either.

Let me say it is always clean inside. I am giving a 2 based on my multiple interactions with staff at the self check out, which is usually the lanes open the time I'm there. I generally stop in on my way to work in the morning to grab a muffin or donut or yogurt something like that. On multiple occasions there have been people at the other self check out registers scanning their items while the cashier is away doing other things, but when I approach the register she will come and stand behind me as I scan my items and wait to see if I pay for them before returning to where she was. It was not just the same cashier who I observed do this to me. I don't like being profiled. I have been coming in this market before some of them were even employed here. Teach your staff to treat every customer the same no matter what we look like. It is disgusting. It took a long time for me to post this because I wanted to be sure it was happening before I went public.

Like shopping here. The store is clean and most items are easy to find. They usually carry the items we consistently buy. Only issues are the quality of the produce and expired items being left for purchase on shelves. This seems to be a consistent issue with Safeway stores I've experienced in Maryland and Virginia. I don't like buying something only to find out it was already expired when we bought it. I mostly avoid the produce unless we will eat it that day or the next and I vigilantly check all expiration dates.

GREAT selection of products. There's self check-out. Meat selection is better than most stores especially if you find manager specials. Bakery usually offers nice cakes, bagels and other bake goodies. Stores are usually very clean and organized. NOTE: The one manager at Route 40 location should be applauded for how he's doing his job. He's very nice and has no problem with doing any job in the store to help his crew and customers.👍

You're paying for location shopping here. I'm a Baltimore County girl, used to $1.50 regular price for my favorite yogurt at either of the 2 Giant's. I only buy it when it's on sale for $1. I still bought it on sale for $1 here, but the regular price is $1.79. Makes me question all the prices in the store. That being said, I paid up for the canned cat food, because it was actually in stock in flavors my precious paletted princesses deem acceptable.The store was clean enough. But, it's ridiculous to have ONE register open. If you're going to make me do the job of scanning and bagging my own groceries, how about you let me do it ON the lanes with a conveyor belt.Update: 3 registers were open on today's visit, 1/5.

I have been a loyal Customer to the Pharmacy of SAFEWAY for well over 13 years...I can always count on them to have my medication on time and it's always filled when I arrive ....The Pharmacist Carrie is what make the place stand out she loves her job and her customers i always look forward to talking to her and seeing her every month....I would highly give Safeway Pharmacy a five star rating with no problem

Good location. The store was clean and organized. However, the coveted special items were not being restocked in a timely manner. Safeway is bit pricey unless you have a Club Card (or app), but they have a huge selection of branded items. Cashiers and store clerks were friendly as well. I'd visit this location again when I'm in the area.

This store has really gone down hill over the last few years. Produce is always rough. They are frequently just out of items we commonly need. The never have baskets for shopping. One time I saw the store manager use a cart to take groceries to his truck and then just leave the cart in the parking space next to his. That told me everything I needed to know about how this store is run. Literally the only reason I go here is because it’s between work and home. If it was not I’d never go back

Had the worst experience here today EVER. I’m still shaken up about the whole situation and this has been about 5 hours ago. Happily drove from Columbia to this location to try them out for the first time today since moving here back in February. Got to the store parking was easy carts were stocked cart sanitizer was full. My husband my 11 year old son and i shopped and gathered all items we came there for pls a few extra things and headed to check out. We got to register 6 where we were the only ones in line and an Asian, or Chinese woman tended to us. She began ringing our groceries up and pushing them down to be bagged where there was NO BAGGER. Our 11 year old began to bad the small things he could. This turned really bad really quick! After begging the things he could he stopped because of course he’s a kid so he was occupied by his phone and regular kid things. The cashier then proceeded to shout at my husband to bag the groceries. Baffled and confused my husband began to bag a few things until she started yelling at me to bag things. At this point we all stopped! She then stopped ringing our groceries looked at me and said “these are your groceries bag your things my line is long there are other people waiting” at this point i asked for a manager to be called she refused! I walked away and went to customer service to have a manager called by then time i returned from customer service she was THROWING our things carelessly in a bag. She then looked up at me and yelled at me again for about the 5/6th time. The manager approached us she came from behind her register and yelled at him also until he told her to go to the office. Eventually someone else came to finish checking my family. The manager left went to the office and came back to ask if i was ok being there he saw how very PREGNANT i am and how volatile this cashier was being. He pulled my family and i to the side and apologized and told us that her behavior was definitely unacceptable and would be handled accordingly because customers and great customer service is very important to them. He also offered us a gift card to use and if we decide to return which he encouraged but after that encounter i doubt that i ever will. This was totally unacceptable and even though an apology and gift card were given i still feel very violated and wronged because honestly it wasn’t our job to bag our groceries nor did we deserve to be treated like that. Not to mention the disbelief on all the surrounding customers faces. Some even came over to make sure we were ok because of how this cashier was behaving.

I have been trying for months to get Safeway to stop sending me emails. Their unsubscribe links don't work and I've spent hours on the phone talking with every Josh in Islamabad to no avail. I have sent multiple emails and still their emails keep coming. Finally discovered from their CR that if you cancel your account and someone uses your phone number at some later date your account comes back to life because THIS COMPANY KEEPS YOUR DATA FOREVER.Still receiving multiple emails a week from this place. Do NOT share your info with them. Just make up a loyalty card phone number each time because it will automatically create a new account (or revive a canceled one) for any number.

The place is nice, I come here quite often actually. Normally this type of thing wouldn't bother me, but the attitude of the cashier is really what took the cake. I paid my items with cash, gave them the correct amount of change as well so I could just get a $10 back. They take the change and proceed to charge me as if I never gave them change in the first place. I let the cashier know that I gave him the change but he tells me he never got anything. I told him that I didn't mind giving him the change again and he just tells me no with an attitude that definitely would make anyone upset. He doesn't even give me my receipt and ignores me as he does the next person in line?

Recently moved to the area and honestly was not looking forward to learning the layout of a new grocery store BUT this Safeway is so clean, wide aisles, abundance of the good carts (the smaller ones with two tiers). Found everything easily and will be back regularly

Pretty average grocery store. However the produce is always great, the store is always clean and well lit and generally well-stocked. Employees are friendly and it's very convenient being right next to a Target. Good place to pick up specialty grocery Target may not carry.

I like the Safeway somewhat, but I have some mixed feelings about it. I really love their floral department, it has a lot to choose from and the arrangements are beautiful the prices are okay. As for the rest of the store, there are some things that are priced fairly well, but they are still a bit on the expensive side. When it comes to service I haven't always been thrilled. Some of the people are friendly but some have been bordering on rude.

Always clean, prices are higher than other stores but if you use the app you can save a lot. Good produce and meat. And I love their floral department- their flowers seem to last so much longer than ones we buy from florist

Wowww they have a lot of checkstands open I'm impressed. Deli counter needs one more person or call for help but overall good experience their baked chicken $9 for 8 pieces was pretty good.
