I like the store. A bit more expensive than Walmart but more convenient for me. I also like their community involvement. They donate a lot of food to our local food pantry!

Amazing experience tonight, stood in the self check out line for 10 minutes waiting with my cart, then was kicked out of the line by the woman attending the self checkout because she assumed I had more than 14 items… meanwhile 7 of the 10 registers in the store, this is including self check out, were operating at “14 items or less”… turns out I had exactly 14 items, had to wait in line longer based off this ladies assumption, got kicked out of line in front of a dozen people, half behind me half in front of me. If I want to do self check out it shouldn’t be policed by anyone outside of the chance someone could be shop lifting. And if it’s a busy night at your store and you’re more worried about someone possibly having more items than 14, open more registers to people with more than 14. Everyone I’ve interacted with at this location have been very nice, not a fan of this woman though. Put her on cart duty.EDIT: ALSO JUST UNPACKED THE 2 BAGS OF GROCERIES AND IM MISSING THINGS I PAID FOR… THIS IS WHY I DO SELF CHECK OUT

Good store for basic needs and things. If I had one complaint it's that they pull the Walmart strategy of having 3 lanes open with cashiers while multiple aren't in use which does slow things down, but overall a decent place to one-stop-shop your groceries.

Great neighboorhood grocery store. It's not the biggest or most modern, but it gets the job done. Have been coming here for years as it is the closest to my house. Staffing has become a bit reduced, but the store tends to be pretty well stocked with a good selection of goods.

Nice employees but the store is claustrophobic. It is an old one and there is no room to expand. Also I heard they are adding more self check-outs toward the pharmacy- NOT a good idea

lol, if you’ve seen my review of the Bangor Hannafords, you’ll recognize that I have seen better and worse Hannafords, and this is surely one of the best Hannafords. It has a surprisingly beautiful view for a grocery store, is always clean, well-stocked, but on the busier side.The employees are always friendly and helpful.

I just left my nice water bottle there and turned right around to get it. When I got there they had already thrown it in the trash. The man went in the trash can and handed it to me. Apparently this is their lost and found policy!!

It was a hopping place on Saturday morning. Hannaford runs very good stores with excellent selection and service. I appreciate the self-checkout area. Take time to check out the wetlands next to the parking lot for a good selection of sea ducks, gulls and more.

Large parking lot. Easy access. Great selection. As we walk in, we were told not to touch one shopping cart because it hadn't been disinfected. I very much appreciated that. There are cleaning wipes and hand sanitizer at the entrance. And, everyone is wearing a mask, as they should during this pandemic. Best supermarket in the Portland area. Good selection of local cheeses and beers as well, clearly labeled as "Local".

This store is kept in excellent shape, with aisles wide and clean, produce section spacious and well-kept, and meat department neat. It is obvious that the staff check over the produce and do not leave overripe or rotten produce on the shelf. Staff are friendly and helpful, even if your question is not related to the department they are in.This store has a good selection of organic foods as well as a gluten-free section and some international foods. The prices are reasonable and noticeably lower than some of its competition.The only real complaint I can make about the store is that the checkout area gets rather crowded during the busy times (usually 4-6 pm on weekdays), so it's a little tougher to navigate through that area to get to the various aisles from the front of the store.

So I go to the pharmacy for the 2nd time (unsuccessfully) to get a vaccine and once again I get "Let me see if the pharmacist has time". Maybe, if you don't have adequate staffing you should stop offering vaccines and other health services and stick to counting pills. It's really offensive to hear "if they have time." like I'm making an unreasonable request.

My experience at Hannaford's is usually pleasant, they have good prices, a great selection of local and specialty foods, and nice employees. It's clean too. Most people here wear masks, especially during busy hours. It must be really difficult for the workers, as many students that work are having to quarantine due to COVID, there are less employees. I'm praying that customers are gentle with the extra wait times during this variant storm we are all experiencing. The employees are stressed already, so they definitely need our support and gratefulness for showing up.

This has been my neighborhood Hannaford for 20 years. The selection is usually much better than the Shaw's across the street, and staff are friendly and helpful. It is, however, either no longer large enough to accommodate the area it services or it is just too understaffed. Every time I've gone in the past few years, I end up in a line that stretches to the frozen food section. Long lines had common even before the pandemic, but now there doesn't seem to be a time of day where they can be avoided.

If visiting Portland, MA and if you want fresh lobster, skip the touristy area and go to Hannaford Supermarket. The prices are much better and the lobster is steamed right on the spot for you. All you have to do is be ready to enjoy or put it on ice if travelling. We visited the area and purchased from a place right in the middle of the Downtown area, what a mistake! We paid 8 times as much and had no idea. Give your wallet a break and go to Hannaford for fresh lobster you eat on the spot or pack in ice and take with you. I hope this review saves your wallet because mine took an 'L' in this lesson.

My local go to grocery store. Good selection, usually fresh produce, friendly staff. The prices are lower than a lot of other stores. The selection of organic and natural products is good too. I don't like many of the sweet baked goods but the bread is great and the delicious and meat counter have a nice variety of choices. I really like the local Maine food options that they carry.

Shopping at my usual Hannaford store today, when I noticed I lost my cell phone! I immediately went to the front and notified the front store person in charge. He was kind and told me to look around and then notified the people working in the store, and found it. Many thanks to all of you!

We don't have this store in Florida but I wish we did.... great selection of food, they support local businesses and the customer service was incredible. The manager got carrots for me while I was in line that I forgot. Great place.

Hannaford sees a lot of foot traffic, yet the store in South Portland looks clean and well stocked. The aisles are not crowded with promotional items nor with pallets of stock to be shelved. The staff here have been with the company for many years which tells the customer that it is a good place to be enjoyed.

The pharmacy WAS once reliable and staffed with appropriately trained pharmacists and techs. The last 5 months have been awful, neglegent to the point of needing to report one of their pharmacists to the state. I would recommend to find another pharmacy and to avoid this one.

I go to this Hannaford at least five times a week and have been dissatisfied in the past few months in the produce department. Shortage of inventory and poor quality of produce!Had to go elsewhere just to fresh produce. This reflects poorly on store manager!most employees very pleasant but,some seem bothered to be their.

Staff is great but I feel like this is the red headed step child of Hannaford stores. Come on Hannaford. It's time to take South Portland seriously. And can we get some fresh fruit here or what? I buy fruit that goes bad in a day. Watermelon was already outdated when I bought it.
