This is actually a really nice property in a beautiful location with a fantastic view of the harbor. My boyfriend and I stayed here the first weekend of October and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We absolutely loved the restaurant/lounge attached to the hotel (the Nor'Easter Pound & Market) and had awesome food and drinks. We went both nights we stayed here. The service was phenomenal and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Our bartender was great and a lot of fun to talk to. The rooms are very basic and even a bit dated, but they are clean and comfortable, which is ultimately all that matters. I actually kind of enjoyed the nostalgic 90s vibe of this place. There is no continental breakfast, but they do have free coffee in the main lobby. The rooms have refrigerators, which is a big plus, and we had a nice little balcony with chairs overlooking the water. There is an outdoor pool for the summer months and they have a cool little souvenir shop in the lobby. They do have pet friendly rooms! The price of this hotel was EXTREMELY reasonable. We only paid a total of $327 for a 2-night stay (Saturday & Sunday). I checked their 2024 rates on their website and they have gone up slightly, but are still very reasonable. The hotels in Bar Harbor are AT LEAST twice the price that we paid here! We will 100% be staying here again this spring and summer. This is definitely not a 4 or 5-star hotel; however, If you're looking for a reasonably priced, clean, comfortable hotel in a great location that will meet all of your basic needs and is within very close proximity to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park, but don't want to pay the outrageous peak season Bar Harbor lodging prices, I would 100% recommend Kimball Terrace!

Kimball Terrace, located on the north side of the harbor- offers many rooms with harbor views and a setting that’s only about a five-minute walk to the village. In between the harbor and motel are some nice views of the expansive lush green lawn. With hills in the background rounding out this splendid scene -which I always enjoyed (see the pic attached with this review)it also has a nice outdoor swimming pool (you’ll have to catch a very warm day to use the pool, given this is Maine!) and an excellent breakfast-lunch-dinner restaurant that includes patio dining overlooking the harbor. it offers clean, spacious motel rooms, most with a private balcony and a splendid view of the Town's Green and Harbor. When you are at the reception area- you can see its history in photographs. I talked to the receptionist and she was very insightful, telling us how this hotel was renovated. it has its history. Our room was on the ground floor-spacious, with a fridge. Microwave - not permittable as per rule but except that, it has everything. in the morning - what a view it was ... loved it.note: Northeast Harbor is a gem on its own, a quaint little village with some beautiful harbor views and a good mix of friendly little shops and restaurants. do explore the area.

Top notch two star motel. Is not quaint. It’s not fancy. It’s not romantic. No room service, no breakfast, etc. It’s a well run simple motel that’s kept very clean. If you choose the harbor view it’s very nice with a small balcony overlooking the water. Location is great. Easy access to the park and swimming at Seal Harbor beach.Walls are not thick so if you have a raucous neighbor you might be out of luck.

Absolutely horrible experience! The motel is fine, convenient location, pretty spacious rooms. However, the people who are running it, are absolute disgraceful !After 10 hours of traveling we checked in. When booking the room I requested a room away from the elevator, however we were given a room right in front of it! When I addressed that I was told “sorry, we are sold out, no other rooms available”. We were exhausted after a long travel and just went to the room and fell asleep. At 11:30 at night we were woken up by a telephone call from the office accusing us of making noise! My whole family was dead asleep and they had the nerve to call our room without investigating! Having a heart condition I couldn’t fall asleep for hours after that call. The next morning I spoke to the manager named Dave. He apologized while talking to another customer and said “Sorry, it was our mistake. There is nothing I can do”. Having a long experience working with public I was just speechless. Aren’t you supposed to remedy the situation? As a manager, aren’t you supposed to offer a customer some type of reimbursement, or a breakfast voucher, or a box of damn cookies that you have laying around in your shop? That interaction left a really sour taste in our mouths. For the next 3 days of our stay we were given dirty looks by the office stuff, like we did something wrong! When we checked out, I’ve noticed $4 charge on my receipt. I inquired what was that charge for. An older lady with grey hair told me that it’s for the item I “took from the store”. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. A day before I was intending to purchase an item, however there was a couple checking in at the desk. I didn’t want to wait and placed the item back on the shelf and went upstairs. Later in the evening I purchased it from a young man at the desk. I explained that to the woman, but she didn’t want to hear me. She decided that I stole a $4 item! I requested to look at their cameras, to talk to a young man who sold it to me, but she just lied to my face and said she saw me take it. After spending over a thousand dollars, why in the world would I steal a $4 item from their shop??? I was never in my life humiliated like that! It’s a shame that this motel is run by people like that. I truly hope that the owners of the motel will read this review. If you stay in this place, please don’t be fooled by “nice” faces of the office stuff.

The hotel is a great price for the area and has decent rooms. The free coffee and tea are a nice bonus and the restaurant attached has an amazing breakfast menu. The beds are comfortable enough but the shower doesn’t have very good water pressure. If you have thick hair it’ll take a while to wash properly. Overall the rooms are basic but that’s expected for the price. The staff are friendly and the housekeepers are very helpful.

The staff was great. Nice room. It was foggy in the morning and evening plus out and about during the day never really got to enjoy hanging out at the hotel. Nice little gift shop inside. The restaurant next door was good. The only complaint is the walls seem thin. The people above us were so loud at like 10:30pm and their kids were up running around. That was a bit rude on their part.

Good location near Acadia National Park and next to a seafood restaurant. Room size was decent and Beds were reasonably comfortable, however there were a few issues that affect the rating:- Noise from next room could be heard through joining door- Curtain was too thin and did not block the light out.- No hot water on the last morning (due to a boiler fault). I also tried to see if there was anything they could do to help but I don't think the receptionist understood me (may have been being too British and not being direct!)

Everything about this motel was good. There’s a nice lounge in case of bad weather with TV, games, and big windows. My room and bed felt tired, a bit gloomy, but I slept great both nights.MOTORCYCLE WATCH: Parking is tight. You might end up parking your bike not exactly near your room.Restaurant next door had great seafood.

The hotel is clean but the rooms are very old, the soap is cheap - the rooms are very dated (curtains, bathrooms…) It’s a motel priced like a mid-range hotel. I’ve been to many national parks and, at this price point, I had better rooms and/or a breakfast included. While I didn’t dislike my stay (nor like it), I think this hotel is overpriced. Really hope something can change because the staff is very friendly!

My mom and I stayed here for two nights. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The rooms and bathroom were very clean. The room we stayed in had a view of the Marina and a balcony. It was reasonably priced especially for its location. It is a short drive from Acadia National Park.We would definitely stay here again if we come back up to the area.

The staff was very hospitable. The rooms were clean but extremely outdated. The nightly price was obnoxiously high, due to the location. It was like Motel 6 accommodations at high end hotel prices. I notice that is par fir the course in this area. Our beds were so uncomfortable, I woke up with neck and hip pain. Our room was near the restaurant so it smelled like seafood the whole time.

We stayed three nights with our dog at Kimball Terrace Inn while visiting Acadia. Northeast Harbor was much less expensive to stay at than Bar Harbor and still very close to the park. Kimball Terrace was a very nice stay. We had a harbor view with room with an enclosed balcony with a lovely view of the harbor and sunsets. Our dog just loved resting out on the balcony in the evenings and didn't want to come inside the room at night. The room was very spacious and clean everything about our stay was very nice. I would definitely recommend this place for a visit to Acadia, especially with a dog.

I want to start by saying the room was very clean, reasonably comfortable bed, and had a decent sized fridge which was great. However, the staff was borderline rude about the fact that we booked through Expedia, when we called to confirm the book and when we were checking in kept talking about how awful the room was booked was (we booked an economy room with a double bed and were fully aware of this and had no problem with it). They were trying to upsell us to a bigger room to make a whopping $40 from us and went on and on about how awful the room was, how we'd be so uncomfortable and once we checked in there was no turning back.At one point I asked why they were going through such lengths to deter us to which they said nothing. The room was exactly what we expected, yes on the small side but when booking an economy room you expect this.We would have said we'd stay again because the room was nice and clean but the way the staff treated us for trying to be economical is enough to never return and warn others as well.

We stayed there for two nights during the July Fourth weekend. I was worried about the room quality and location cause it was only a two stars hotel and a bit of a hike from the main attractions. Well my fear was unfounded. The hotel was built in 1971 but it is in great shape! The room is LARGE and clean! Furnitures are newer, definitely not your grandpa's old furniture from the 70s. The bathroom is also large, clean and updated. The room is plenty for my family of four adults. Our room was on the second floor and looked out to the mariner. It was nice.Check in was quick. The young lady was friendly and efficient. Coffee is free in the lobby. They also have tea, hot water, and a microwave. It takes about 15-20 min to Acadia NP, depending on where you go. Bar Harbor is about 20 min. I find the distance not a problem at all. There is so much to see, we only stayed in our rooms to sleep. Our rate is high but reasonable since it's July Fourth. I would have to easily pay 30-50% more if staying in Bar Harbor. One caveat is the hotel appeared to be built in wooden structure. We could hear noises upstairs and outside when people move around. Another downside is that the choice of restaurants is very limited in the area. The onsite restaurant was just ok.

Beautiful views of Northeast harbor and marina! Rooms are spotless and new feeling! Awesome interactions with staff! Nice quiet area, huge lawn and nice outdoor pool along with an on site restaurant/bar with outdoor deck. It's truly a perfect setting 15 minutes away from the bustle of Bar Harbor. I would definitely come back again!

This was the only place I could find a room on the island, and I feared it was for a bad reason. I was so delighted to see that our room was super clean and the Inn had lovely views, tidy and comfortable pool area, and was walking distance to a cute downtown area. I had never spent time in the north east harbor and I was so pleasantly surprised to find it quaint, welcoming, and quiet compared to bar harbor. The southwest harbor was also a sweet nearby area to explore. The rooms at Kimball Terrace are humbly furnished, but squeaky clean. To the management - upgrades to pillows and perhaps new mattresses or mattress toppers would be fantastic!

This place is so sweet! They have dog-friendly rooms with a modest additional fee. Sliding glass door to a little patio, and we're peeping at a nice green stretch of grass, a lovely harbor with boats. Great view, walkable to shops and restaurants if you need to, spacious, clean room. We stayed on a slow night, but met a few good-natured staff, responsibly masked.

Outdated. Overpriced. And you can hear everything through the rooms and from outside. It does not help that staff decided to mow the lawn at 7:45am. Also, despite that we booked a quiet room, we were put next to the restaurant, which comes with noisiness… Would not come back despite the okay location to Acadia.

I recently stayed at Kimball for three days in the first week of October. It was a wonderful stay! The rooms and the bathroom were all clean when we got there. Staff was accommodating and are wearing masks. The inn is very quiet. I barely saw anyone there (probably because it’s already October). There’s free coffee and tea down in the lobby and a microwave as well. No free breakfast but there is a restaurant attached to the inn. We had takeouts there, it was good, but supposedly more expensive compared to restaurants outside the inn.We couldn’t test the pool as it was freezing! We were on the second floor and had a nice balcony view of the pool, boats across the inn and farther view of the mountains. It was very serene to look at.There’s free WIFI but not the best service—still okay though. There’s television, good cable—regular size TV but we didn’t really mind. AC is old but does its job.I’d probably come back to stay here again since it’s close to Acadia Park and the price is very cheap. It’s close to most places, like 15 min drive to Bar Harbor where the real action is.If you’re not extremely high maintenance and literally only want to find a place for sleeping and basic needs, this is the place.

Simple, down to earth lodging. Staff is friendly and professional. Rooms are clean. View of the harbor is gorgeous. The restaurant next door is an added perk. Access to everything. Hang out in town, take a boat to see the seals and other wildlife, or head out to one of the larger towns. Everything is just a hop, skip, and jump away.

Excellent location. Walking distance to downtown shops. We did not get a room with a good view, but some rooms have great views. It was clean, the staff was helpful.amd friendly. Cheaper than Bar Harbor places, but not the most modern rooms. Would have been really good if there had been breakfast included.

Older hotel. Mattress needs updating. Rooms need updating. I am on 1st floor and i can hear EVERY FOOT STEP ABOVE ME!!! Can also hear everything in rooms next door. Low water pressure in shower. Just needs updating. Great location though.

Clean and correct. The location is great to visit Acadia. The swimming pool is a pleasant extra. The restaurant Nor'easter is great for diner. For breakfast I would recommend to grab a cup of the complimentary NewEngland coffee featured at the reception and walk a short stroll to the Colonel from freshly baked wonders to dunk into the coffee.

We are staying at this hotel for the EV charger down the road whenever we visit MDI. The rooms are simple, but always clean and have all the necessities you may need. The view of the harbor and the restaurant downstairs are nice features. However, last time we stayed there was a get-together in the next room that went on way past midnight and the walls are PAPER THIN. You will hear all your neighbors, including their dogs. 🐕
