I bought fresh haddock and fresh sea scallops. I also got frozen organic hamburg! I also purchased 6 ears of corn already husked and packaged! They have good deals on bulk fish. So fresh and delicious! (Years ago, I worked in a fish department.) The guy at the counter was fun and friendly! I can't wait to go back! It wasn't busy when I went in on a Friday afternoon around 5pm but I get the feeling that it's usually very busy. It's a small store.

We historically have made special trips to come here for seafood. Their seafood is fresh and the guys behind the counter have always been pleasant, informative and kind. We love their lobster salad, it’s a real treat. The guys work hard and move very fast. The last few visits we have felt overcharged, but weren’t sure if we had our numbers right and just let it go. Today I felt similarly and came home and weighed everything and I can’t come up with the $20-30 difference. I’ve never been able to get an itemized receipt from them, just a total. We are going to halt our visits and try some other local places in light of this. Not everything is labelled when you go in, which is generally fine because you can find a sign, but for some items you can’t. I think this would be a good step for transparency in addition to writing on the seafood paper or container the cost of what is being purchased after it’s been weighed. Maybe an itemized receipt would also help.

Would give them 100 stars if I could. Incredible grocery store that has everything you could need - amazing fresh fish, local produce, good wine and local beer, a great staff and the best damn lobster roll we’ve had all trip. Big too!! The first time we felt like we got our moneys worth 😁

Been looking for smoked whitefish for a minute up here and found delicious smoked pollock pate which absolutely fits the bill. Great wine selection and even sushi grade tuna for homemade sushi. It’s premium products that I think are priced fairly.

This place is ridiculous! It is like the Cheers of fishmongers. Amazing selection, epic service and a delight every time we go. Clark brothers in Scotland was my favorite until now. Do yourself a favor and stop in! OY(sters)!

Amazing staff, we stopped in just to look around and the gentleman behind the counter answered all my questions on cod vs haddock. We ended up trying the cod(cod virgins here) it was awesome! fresh and delicious! Thanks for taking the time to help and being pleased to do so. You don't get that service many places anymore ! Oh and the lobster stew really did have half pound of meat. So good! Will stop every time get in that area!

They have a wide variety of stuff to add to a seafood meal. They have produce of all kinds and it is so fresh they go and get it almost every day. It's the first time I've been there and I was thoroughly impressed.

This is our go to place for fresh seafood...friendly, informative employees... A great selection of local craft beers and ciders... Fresh Fresh Fresh produce.... This is what buying local looks like. Highly recommend.

We’ve been coming here for several years in a row (at least 3x a year) and have always had a nice experience. We spend close to $300 each time. There is one man there (I think the son of the owner) who is consistently rude to me and my children. He has reddish hair and usually some facial hair.I would recommend Augusta seafood market over this place for that reason and that reason alone.I don’t like spending a bunch of money and being made to feel bad about my questions or my family.The older man (owner) is lovely. But we don’t see him much.Sorry Hallowell seafood market—I’m out.

Hands down the best customer service and a delightful lobster roll with very hearty servings! If you’re visiting from out of town, make sure you get it with a Moxie soda! If you walk across the street, you can enjoy your food on the waterfront picnic style.

Don't go here for seafood - Hannaford's seafood is fresher, tastier, and a LOT less expensive - but definitely shop here for fresh produce. They carry a wide selection of fresh produce as well as honey, jams, and canned goods from local farms and it usually fresher and yummier than you can get from the grocery stores. It's basically a mini farmers market that you don't have to get up at the butt crack of dawn on a Saturday morning to get to!

I came here about 7 years ago after my friend who lives in the area told me about it. Literally nothing has changed, in my opinion. The lobster salad roll (large) is absolutely fantastic! I don't dare to venture what the jumbo must be like. The key word is salad, though. If you are looking for only lobster chunks, then go elsewhere or enjoy this roll for what it is, and if you don't have anything nice to say about it, then don't say it at all! That being said, this lobster salad is made only of just that... LOBSTER! Get one to eat right away and grab another for the road!

We went for pumpkins. I know so don't comment we were driving by. Great seasonal selection and it put Sam's to shame even though their prices are much better. They were much fresher and this is the Cheers of the fish business. As local as it gets and get service and advice.

I have a yearly family gathering that Justin, John and the gang supply a relatively large number of lobsters for. For years, they have provided me with great tasting, cooked lobsters. They are always ready at the agreed time. This allows me to get them to the gathering in a timely fashion and spend more time with my family. I was vacationing in Maine and a few of the locals told me this was the place for lobster. The guy working was so nice. Paid $49.00 for a 2 lbs lobster I couldn’t eat. It was so overcooked that it made it chewy. I was so disappointed.

Small grocery store. They don’t shuck oysters for you or cook clams even though other reviews say they do and the sign outside says they sell oysters shucked.

My favorite place to buy seafood and produce. Lobster meat, steamers and haddock was my happy birthday 🎁 to me this past week. Always pleasant and professional service. Love the seasonal varieties and local produce/products. Their rolls are incredible...sweet homemade tasting rolls with large portion of fresh lobster meat and offer different sizes. The people here are amazingly friendly, and they have a surprisingly good selection of small batch products. The wide selection does make it a tiny bit claustrophobic, but you can absolutely stop there and get an entire meals worth of high quality food.

We visited Hallowell seafood and produce 3 years ago on a quick trip to Maine. Justin took the time to talk with us about the business, the live lobster tank, and Hallowell in general. We were left with such a great impression, that we have been trying to get back for 3 years. Today we stopped in, ordering lobster tails, scallops, and picking up fresh local tomatoes, peaches, nectarines, and plums. We added some cheese, celery, and a Maine made cocktail sauce, that Hallowell's carries in the store, and had a delicious picnic style supper. We are excited that Hallowell's also ships, so we can order the delicious seafare and have it arrive to us in Tennessee!

We had lobsters and clams prepared their and brought home, 20 mi away, and they were piping hot. The lobsters were full sweet and some of the best we ever had, and we live here in Maine so we eat a lot of lobsters. The clams were clean and delectable. We can't even express how wonderful the hallowell seafood and all of the staff are, very helpful honest and supportive in getting your best choices met.

Highly RecommendVery friendly staff and amazing products with great prices.When we stopped it was close to closing time and they couldn't care less, told us to take our time, even let us go into the back fridge to see the produce they had put away already in case we wanted any.Oysters were very fresh, they let you pick your own. Will definitely be back for oysters and other seafood goodies.Also they have lots of other gourmet type foods and items. Worth the stop. It's It's but the selection is so large you forget how small it is lol
