Neat, clean and organized. Sadly there were no cats the day I went. However, they usually have 1 or 2 available for adoption through the local shelter. They have a good variety of snakes, lizards, rodents, and a few birds. The new pets they carry include tarantulas and chinchillas. There's an extensive fish selection in the back as well. Large variety of everyday products in addition to high end products available for most types of pets. Grooming services available too.

Nobody asked if I needed help.The must of had a truck delivery, pallets of stuff to be restocked and bare shelfs to hold it. I usually dont buy fish here because I dont have a 2nd tank to hold them and treat them for a few days.

Been there a couple of times and everytime l was waiting for help buying fish, was totally ignored l won't name anybody but she was a redhead girl . At first l just thought she was having bad day but l was in there a while ago and there was a nice lady and her young son so l watch to see if she was treated like me and sure enough she stood there with her back turned to them the lady waited for over 5 minutes finally she had to ask her for help . But on the other hand l have heard great things about a guy who works there later in the day was a fantastic ,very helpful and knowledgeable employee

Started getting back into freshwater fish keeping again after a long period away. And Jared was a massive and huge help throughout these last few months. His knowledge of tank health and fish keeping is bar none some of the best advice or conversations I've had at this location. My family and I have set up 4 community tanks that are fully planted and every time we went in, we were able to leave the store happy. Going to miss Jared. By fair this stores best fish keeper.

Front register lady with the glasses and her hair in a bun at the front on 4/20 @ 10:20am was pretty rude and grumpy. If you don’t like your job- quit. Don’t be disrespectful to people. You work at Petco. It’s not the end of the world. I hope this comment gets awareness for the attitude she is giving customers.

I've been to Auburn Petco many times for various pet needs for a long time. Recently I've been upgrading my fishtank and went to Petco for fish a couple times, both times I was helped by Jared and was caught of guard about all the knowledge he had regarding fish, he helped me determine what fish were appropriate for my tank size and things I may need. It was the first time I've been helped at Petco by someone who is actually knowledgeable about the animals they work with, it was refreshing opposed to other workers just throwing fish in the bag and calling it good. Petco should hire more people who are passionate about animals ☺️

Thank you to Aquatic Specialist Jared Williamson for his consistent, outstanding service. My experience in the fish department used to be mundane. I’d get ignored and my questions wouldn’t get answered accurately, if at all. Once I met Jared, that took a completely 180. He has a vast understanding of most aquatic plants and animals, making my Petco experience feel like a field trip every time. He’s saved me hours of failed tanks and dead fish by teaching me tricks and tips to maintain healthy, high functioning aquatic ecosystems. His expertise has been a lifesaver and game changer for me. You rock Jared!

As an Elite Yelper, I don't like having to write these types of reviews, but I believe in full transparency especially when as a consumer I am treated with disrespect and their actions result in a full boycott of the entire brand.As you can see in previous reviews, I have had both good and bad experiences with the Auburn Petco. I used them for over 4 years as my dog's groomer and I have purchased fish, fish tanks, dog food and many other products over the past 8 years. When I have bad experiences, I talk about them on here and I provide feedback through the Corporate office to ensure they have an opportunity to address any concerns. I have raised concerns with store management and they refused to speak with me which is why I resort to online reviews and corporate complaints.So fast forward to March 2023 and I decided to give them one last chance and schedule a grooming appointment with the Auburn Petco. Less than 48 hours from my dog's appointment, I receive an email notification that my appointment has been canceled. I call the store to inquire why and the person who was supposed to perform the grooming answers the phone and then hands me off to a Manager. The Manager tells me the reason they cancelled it is because my dog has been "referred out". This confused me as I had no idea what she meant. I asked for clarification and she says "Our groomers refused to work on your dog". I am baffled at this point because my dog has never shown any aggressive behavior, has always behaved and tip VERY well to the groomers. I asked the Manager if she was telling me that my money is no good to them if their groomers have no justified reason for placing my dog on their "Do not groom list". You may laugh but it's a real thing because no Petco will allow me to schedule grooming services or any other services involving canines.At this point I was furious, but I wasn't going to take it out on the Manager. I hung up, called the corporate office and filed a complaint because they had not reason to blacklist her other than to retaliate for the complaints I have filed against the store for poor customer service, cancelling appointments at the last minute and for fire safety violations that could jeopardize human life should a fire start in the front of the store.Petco has officially ended up on my Boycott list despite being a Petco credit card holder. They have since disabled my ability to login to the mobile app and I feel they are taking out their frustration on the dog because they have a problem with the human. They had no problem taking $120 every grooming from me, but get a complaint because they do something wrong and now it's the dog who has to suffer.It's sad it has come to this because I was loyal to Petco and they are allowing groomers to decide the fate of a dog when the dog has done nothing wrong, but that's what you get for being loyal.

Our appointment was at 11:55am. We arrived 10 minutes early to stand in line with everyone else who did not have appointments. Would have rather spent my money at a smaller private clinic to avoid my dog acting like a maniac for over an hour in line. The Dr however was very quick and handled our dog very well. Would suggest this to anyone who doesn't have a problem waiting in unnecessary lines for long amounts of time. A suggestion would be to not make people schedule appointments then send them texts to confirm all week and don't hold up your end of the appointment process. Be more professional and courteous to the customers who actually follow the rules and make appointments and show up on time prepared. Thanks.

I don’t know what’s going on with the fish here. But I got 6 neon tetras a few days ago along with one male beta. This isn’t my first go with fish. I did everything right on my end. Cycled the water in the tank for 2 months, tested every so often. Back to the fish, I lost two neon tetras within the first 24 hours. And my beta I lost tonight. Very disappointing

I went in with hopes of finding a replacement cartridge for my aquarium vacuum there were none also looked for filter change for a specific filter not found and a larger bottle of fish food ended up buying 2 bottles of the smaller one to make up my bigger one and spent more than I had planned

I will never bring my dog for grooming here again. Ask for just the basic package that I always get and groomer tried her best to get me to add more but I kept saying no just the basic. She then suggested I get my dogs nails filed and I said just trimmed. When I picked up my dog she said well I filed them anyway. Took my dog home and when I got her out of my vehicle there was blood all over the seat. They had cut her foot! This is the second time she has come home bleeding. It took a good two weeks before her cut on her foot healed and she was walking normal and not constantly licking her paw. Terrible, terrible place. And they never pick up the phone or return phone calls. Had to contact the manager of the store.

At the Home Depot mall opposite BJs, Auburn Maine.Huge, spacious, clean-smelling!A passing employee steered us away from the priciest weight-loss catfood (Hill's) to a sensible one she had tested herself and liked. !A good easy experience, lots of choices in an active pet community center.And no, I'm not related.

Good size location. Plenty of selections. I went for dewormer for our kitten. A bit pricey, considering the fact that if they had the deworming drops on location they wood be a bit cheaper. (Just to have the option would be nice) Outstanding selection of food. The pets that are on site all seem happy and healthy. The staff is helpful. This is a very clean location as well. Wheelchair parking and accessible. Plenty of parking. Never exceptionally busy, so the trips are almost always nice and quick.

Gonna start going to pet quarters and same with fish emporium in Waterville!! cuz atleast their fish are healthier!! Yall want money and don't care for quality 😡 not buying fish here ever again.. lost a loyal customer!! Fix the problem don't just address it!!

I checked online to make sure an item I wanted was available to pick up in store that day, & said it was. Made sure the location was correct. I crossed my T's and dotted my i's. I even tried double-checking with the store BUT no one answered the phone. After finding what I thought was the correct item & having the cashier tell me it was the same, when the manager saw it (she was over to price match) she had said no, its not the same, that it was off by one word. & that she will not match the price I had seen online, also there are none available in any of the New England stores. So I wasted 2 hours of driving.

They sell rats again! Adopted 2 from here n they're going great 😊On the other hand they sell fish that are sick n nothings being Done about it..
