We have been frequenting Petco on Tchoupitoulas in Nola for over 2 years. We are signed up for the fish and dog rewards. I shop there probably twice a week & spend a lot of $$$. At one time, this Petco had a wonderful, friendly & extremely knowledgeable staff. Michael, Melissa, Sunshine & Jeff. They were not only brilliant but fun to work with AND the inventory was always full! Several months ago, they hired a manager named Christine! Christine is NOT friendly at all. She literally has a stern stoic look on her face at all times. I’m very outgoing and greet and speak to everyone. I don’t think she’s ever greeted me, let alone smiled.. EVER. Very shortly after Christine was hired, my friendly core staff who greeted everyone with smiles and the eagerness to assist, started quitting one by one because of the new managers crass attitude. Michael, Melissa, Jeff and Sunshine left. This is also when the inventory became very scarce! I often have to order from Amazon ! I enjoyed this Petco for a few reasons: 1. it’s a few blocks from our home. 2. they had everything needed and most importantly 3. You were always welcomed by the friendly and Uber knowledgeable people.Fortunately, I made a lifelong friend with Melissa, so that’s awesome. She actually encouraged me to continue my loyalty with Petco. She said “give it a go”, so I did I because of the location convenience and one employee, Veronica, who stayed on. However, I was constantly telling Veronica how disappointed I was in the manager and the lack of inventory. Then young Aiden, the fish expert was hired, so I decided to give it yet another shot… until today! Today, my tolerance was depleted. I had a grooming appointment for 8:15am, and got there promptly. They don’t open til 9am, so I knocked and finally got them to answer the phone. 10 minutes later, they came to open the doors. Totally fine.But, again, I had to explain the cut to them which they should have in their notes. They’ve groomed him many times. They’re suppose to be the professionals!!!I haven’t had this particular groomer, Harley,(same name as my fur baby), before .. so when she began asking what to do, I asked why they didn’t keep notes in the computer! I’ve asked this several times in the past. Well she began elevating herself and putting down the other groomers. So, as I’m reiterating what to do on Harley, she’s pompously bragging that she just came from Denver and has been grooming for 16 years and that shes having to “redo” everything because no one took notes, no one did a good job. All this in a cocky way, oh and no smile! No good morning. Of course, like all dogs going to the vet or groomer, fur Harley is nervous and pees on the floor. He’s peed EVERY SINGLE TIME at this Petco and at his previous private groomers. I tell her and she points to the cleaning supplies and says “there’s the cleaning stuff, clean it up” . I have NEVER been asked to clean it up. In fact, I’ve always offered and started to but am always told “oh no, we got this, it happens all day”. But I grab the towels and lay them out over the urine. I made sure it was absorbed into the brown paper towels. I pick up Harley and hand him to groomer Harley. I say thank you and begin to leave. She stops me abruptly and says “finish cleaning that up”. It was the tone! The bossiness! The utter unfriendliness. That was it for me. I should have stopped being a loyal customer when Christine was hired but today was the day. This groomer was not just unfriendly but talking down about your fellow employees is a big no no for me. Then to speak to me in such a tone… NO! Also, on our “next door” app for our neighborhood, there was a post just a few days ago from someone who said that there was a dog in the grooming department yelping, screaming, crying and that he/she was being neglected which they viewed as abuse. I’m not leaving my dog with them, especially this groomer!I would have given this Petco 5 stars when Michael, Melissa, Sunshine and Jeff were there but now it gets the lowest rating.

Bring your fur baby here for shots and more very affordable and the service is Great! They give you updates on your visit plus coupons! This is by far the best way to one stop shop! 😁

Terrible service from the grooming department. They cancelled my appointment a few hours before on the day of the appointment because they weren’t able to handle the volume of dogs that were on the schedule. Don’t bother booking with them in the afternoon, they apparently overbook in the mornings and will wait until the last minute to inform you that they can’t accommodate your dog. So wildly unprofessional.

Terrible service on behalf of the groomer and assistant manager. Drop my dog off for an appointment and went over the details, also let the groomer Dawn look over and feel my dog to ensure that she could complete the service. Dropped my dog off at 10 AM. Dawn calls me back at 1:30pm telling me that she cannot service my pet bc she is matted on her butt in one area. Despite her checking prior to see if she could service her or if she felt like she was matted before I left. Then on top of that when I pick her up, she is all aggressive, rude. I explain to her that I have the brush and she checked prior to me leaving. Her rude tone and remark was wild. She appears to be on drugs and lazy and doesn't want to do her job basically. Her mouth was twisting and eyes buck. And now she actually is matted Bc she wet her and didn't brush back out. Then the assistant manager Jennifer was surprisingly even more weirder. Customer service doesn't exist here. Explained the encounter to her and her remark was just ok. Lol complete joke and I'm glad I don't do my job how they do theirs.

I received exemplary service for my special needs, brain damaged, anxiety-riddled dog, Fannie, from Dawn (the groomer) and her staff. Fannie is a hair machine, and the shedding has been a mess but and I had resisted bringing her to a groomer for years fearing she would have a bad experience due to her anxiety.When I went to pick Fannie up after her appointment she did not want to leave! I am very pleased with the quality of service and will be bringing Fannie back every 8 weeks for services.

I ordered a few things online for my two new kittens during the kitten essentials sale. The order was ready within 30 minutes and the cashier was very courteous while helping me! Great experience!

Everytime I go to this location, I leave with even more knowledge. The staff are very friendly and helpful each time I visit. One manager has always stood out to me, Stacey, she is very knowledgeable on animals and answers questions so well. Stacey is always helping other staff with things when I’m in the store and I love to see that. My dog, Rain, absolutely loves seeing her and she always gives her a treat and plays with her. I’m so glad to see a great manager stick around and that goes out of her way to leave me with a smile on my face. She definitely needs a raise, if only I had the power to do that haha. The store looks wonderful and I’m glad this is my neighborhood store. Dawn

love the store. love the staff. love the selection. was just disappointed that the item i was seeking was a little hard to find - mostly because it was sold out. for my regular needs - kibble and treats - the store is 100% reliable, but occasionally when I have sought something slightly out of the norm - eye wipes or a specific toy - I have found the items out of stock.

This is the worst pet store. I have been coming here for years because it's the closest pet store to me. I avoid it if I can. Always new faces. They don't know what they are doing. Aisles are always cluttered. It's a mess.Today's experience...The cashier was texting on her phone while checking me out. I asked her a question which she didn't hear and didn't respond to because she was distracted on her phone. Every time I walk into this store there is something wrong. It's ridiculous.I do not recommend shopping here.

Look I never post reviews anywhere but I felt obligated to after me and my friend went in there last night to get a few things and the girl with the short light purple hair acted like we were holding her up from checking us out because we were talking to each other for a second. She was just so incredibly rude, rolled her eyes at me personally & just had a really bad attitude and customer service. Everyone’s allotted a bad day, but if you can’t be nice at the very least maybe you shouldn’t be in customer service.

Had 0930 grooming appointment. Showed up 0915 and heard 'we're not sure when the groomer is showing up!' 0950, still no groomer but they're getting help from another store??? I would have been charged $80.00 for not canceling within 24Hrs. Nothing but a 'sorry!' when the customer is inconvenienced. I don't have time to wait around for a mystery groomer to show up. I made an appointment for a reason.

Shiloh just helped me so much with some fish tank issues I was having. She was not only genuinely kind, but very knowledgeable and I feel much more confident now with handling our tank! Angel (my angel fish) and Greenie (our green tetra) are ever grateful for Shiloh helping me to insure their continued health!

Went to the store a few weeks ago, and was forced to leave because the "manager" with the multicolored hair believed we were lingering in the store and not purchasing anything. She then proceeded to bug her eyes out at us. I'll definitely only visit the location when she isn't there. Other than that the staff is super friendly but because of that one specific person it made my experience horrible.

This one star review has nothing to do with the service I received but rather an interaction I witnessed involving the manager and an employee. I truly believe that petco corporate should investigate this manager. I watched this manager fully scream at this young employee for around 5 minutes over a small mistake that could have easily been fixed with a quiet conversation. This interaction occurred in front of customers and coworkers and was humiliating and disgusting. By the reactions of the other employees, I believe that screaming and humiliation is a common tactic used by this manager to punish her employees. To the young woman on the receiving end of the tirade, I am so sorry nobody should speak to you like that, especially over a small mistake.

I bought 4 guppies from here and within a few days they had all mysteriously died. My water is fine and I have 2 other guppies bought from a different petco location that have been alive for over a month. I don’t think this petco’s fish are healthy and I would encourage people to buy their fish anywhere else.
