Rouse's Gonzales Airline@Cornerview:2024-04-25 9:00-9:45PMObservations:-First, some praise. The older gentleman that mops the floors in the evening is a treasure of a human being and y'all are lucky to have him. Very friendly and takes pride in his job. Give this man a raise, please.-Bakery/Deli and Produce and fresh prepared food in the front are almost always well stocked and organized. The baked goods here are delicious. Now the not so good:-Was in the housewares aisle, and passing by the flying insect spray shelf, what do I see? Behold, fruit flies and gnats, just leisurely gliding around the bottles of poison that is supposed to make them un-alive. Quite a red flag and an ominous omen all at once. So yeah, the flying insect killer spray was populated with...flying insects. I just don't know what to say about that.Several items on shelves that are expired and also some Quaker products that were recalled by Quaker due to potential Salmonella contamination several weeks ago...still on the shelf at this Rouses. As I went to check out, items were scanned and bagged efficiently and quickly and the young lady was very polite and I carted the bags as they came down the bay and was then told my total and the cashier then picked up her phone and began to scroll. I inserted my card, it approved in three seconds, removed card and waited patiently for the cashier to press the button on her side to print receipt and send me on my way......But whatever was on that phone must have been awfully important because I stood there, in silence with a smile, and waited for over NINETY SECONDS before the cashier realized that she had zoned out on her phone and needed to complete the transaction. Working in front end and BOH retail lead at several establishments over the years put me into secret shopper mode at the moment, I honestly wanted to see how long it would take for the cashier to realize that she was lost on social media while the customer was waiting, and then waiting some more. While waiting, I observed the cashier at the register one bag over was also on their phone, deep in concentration. Two of the young men who were stockers/fronters both had their phones out and were enjoying themselves with their phones and getting very little work done.I looked around, scanned the whole area in my field of vision, and no sign of leadership/supervisors/managers/closers/keyholders anywhere. It was 5-6 very young workers unsupervised and very obviously not held to any level of accountability demonstrated by how comfortable the employees were with just playing on their phones on the sales floor. There is a serious leadership vacuum here and if policies are not implemented or revisited with the closing staff then it will get worse. If you are looking for a strong closer, or a secret shopper, send me an email and I'll shoot you a resume, as y'all need help over at this location.Once a week shopper for several years, ever since the buyout of Leblancs. My advice: do better. It wasn't always like this. The kid with the long hair and the beard hustles and does his job, I do have to say that I see him a lot and he keeps to himself and stays busy. Give him a raise too, please. And Mark that corrals the carts at night is a good guy, he puts a smile on my face.Y'all have some good people on your team, but the team needs direction.

Prices are a litle higher than others but it's nearly immaculate. The hot food area is spotless and the salad bar is stocked with an array of options. Staff is friendly too.

This review is specifically about the catering dept. The Rouse's website apparently has pictures of beautiful items that are not available in the stores, which was a waste of my time. This (Gonzales) store was my second call to find that out. They said that while they couldn't give me the item on the website, they could make a charcuterie platter to go. There were two options. The person on the phone was very hard to understand so I said to give me whichever was nicer. They only had one size - why can't they offer a variety of size? But I said okay. When I picked it up, it was okay. Taste-wise, several of the items were very good. But the strawberries were not ripe, a white color, so no one touched those and, frankly, I was embarrassed about them with my guests. There was also a strawberry jam in the middle. Not sure what that was supposed to go with - the not-ripe strawberrys? But why is it on a charcuterie plate? On the whole, some items like the cheese were very tasty but I wouldn't call again to get a tray to take to a party.

I just wish they would put all the coffee items on the same row, sugars and sweeteners or on one row, coffee is on another row and the pet milk is on another row. why?

Convenient parking, good prices, excellent selection, fast and friendly cashiers. It's easily accessible from Airline Highway and close to a lot of neighborhoods. This will be my go to for a lot. They have the best sushi I’d like to No Rice!!

Clean, fresh produce, good ice cream selection. That's important to me. At least my taste buds, my mid section would like to disagree. Staff is friendly. Parking lot is a bit dark. Definitely needs better lightening.

Not as good of selections as other locations. The staff is not that friendly. I was looking for dairy free cheese. A fairly common item. I had went back and forth between the two complete oppisite sides of the store three times searching for it. I When I reached the point of finally asking if they carried it, the woman behind the counter obsessively organizing the cigarettes (her words) told me if they had it, it would be in that section. So i asked if they had a way to look it up and she said no. So i asked if they had anyone in the store that knew what they sell and she called the man from the dairy section. He was really nice. He didnt know but he went and asked someone who did know. The person behind the counter really shouldn't be back there. They should be told that if anyone ask them for anything, to get someone who will actualky help. But I blame the manager for that. Luckily i found what i was looking for at Murray's on my way home.

It is very clean, and the shelves are well organized. They have a few more things to offer than Thibodaux. Also, Their sushi is on the thick side as well and not small. Amazing I must say!
