Kroger is great. The customers in the area are awful. It is in the ghetto. People destroy the food. They eat food and consume drinks, then dump the remains in the store. They load up carts with expensive meats, laundry products, and other goods and push the carts straight out of the store. Shops, stores, and restaurants leave the west side of Louisville because of the losses they encounter. The people have to change if they want a better community.

If you’re young and African American you will be followed, watched over like a criminal and even falsely accused of shoplifting. Even if you didn’t use self checkout will be stopped and asked if you purchased everything in your basket. Most of the Black people that work there suffer from internalized racism, so don’t think just because they look like you that they won’t racially stereotype you.

I was just in the Kroger on 35th street. I use the self checkout. The cashiers was stand right behind watching if I was stealing. I sent $220 in that store it was money not no.food stamp or vouchers. I work in the same retail as a manager so there is no need for me to seal a damn thing .

Portland kroger is sad. Produce looks horrible. Nothing but lots of browning iceberg lettuce. No eggplant. No cilantro. And as usual the parking lot was nasty. I'm done . No reason to return here its Goss ave. Or New Albany. #DISGUSTEDUpdate:5/5_2025This store and the appearance is very sad . The parking lot is always trashed. The produce department was literally empty . Just because its in a poor neighborhood doesn't mean it has to be like this. I blame management for its condition.

I was picking up a prescription for delivery service. The woman in the Pharmacy (Renee) was the rudest person I have ever had to deal with. She did everything she could to delay my pickup for delivery, even going as far to say I had to pay for the prescription myself. I had to call support to talk to her. 100's of prescription deliveries and not once had a problem.She was extremely rude.

Only two lines open. Store was busy this time of day. Lines backed up all way down the aisle. Needed to return the rug doctor rental and the office was closed. Needed to have assistant manager if manager not in for office help. Closed way too early. Couldn't carts. Full of returns in the store. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't charged two more days for rug doctor rental. Not being able to return to store. SMH I'm not sure what to think about the situation of my Portland Kroger. Never seen so much disorganized and not being able to shop properly due to no shopping cart. Need to hire high school students for a little bit of help. Have a job fair at schools and on spot hiring in stop pass drug test you have a job. Solution for customer service hours.

Dear raggedy store I don't know why but 2 times iv been singled out at your store with the last person that works there I guess accusing me of stealing her grocery's I did say her ,well I heard her running it in the store but never thought she was talking about me! Until I was chased out the door by a cop ,thank God I didn't leave my receipt in the self checkout line normally ,but my question is why did u single me out?

Customer service has stolen money when transferring funds, I’ve been racially profiled and accused of stealing one too many times just for shopping. I’ve overheard racist conversations between White employees at this Kroger. It’s sad because you literally have to deal with racists, self hating black people, colorism, classism, prejudices, etc while trying to shop at this store. I’ve honestly have stopped going here. It gives me anxiety. Literally one time the lady was staring at me so hard at the self checkout that she didn’t notice the woman next to me was stealing boxes of beer. 😳 No one wants to be treated like a criminal just for trying to exist and buy food. I’ve never stolen anything. I really want to know what are their policies.Also not to mention the food quality is absolutely awful and is basically stealing from the community. A lot of the shelves are overrun with expired food that they still sell. I feel bad for the people in this community who often have to walk or have other difficult means of transportation to this store. I have told managers many times about expired products on the shelves all for them to keep them there.

I love this Kroger’s the majority of the time. It’s their customers service and down home feeling which keeps me coming.I pray we’ll continue to work together and keep this atmosphere. Their employees are the absolute BEST in this city!!! Great job leadership…you do a lot with a little and we recognize it!! I am wondering where is one of my former students who worked there? I trust all is well at this Kroger’s.

Every time I come to get a money order the customer service area is closed. During the day, evening, night, doesn't matter. The staff never have an explanation and appear as if they hate to be asked when it's going to open.

I was there to pick up a western union two days in a row. The first day the young gentleman told me that he didn't have enough money to be able to cash out the western union that was a Christmas gift. The following day the line was a little longer than what I was expecting however the line did move fairly quickly and was able to give me my money.

Only giving 1 star cause you have to give something . I went to pharmacy and walked up with guy in front of me but lady let me stand there . She seen me too in line . After standing for several minutes she looks and said we are closed . I said I walked up with him at same time . I live 1 1/2 hours away please my mom needs blood pressure medicine . She said so and turned away and walked away . I hate going to this store . I only go there because of my moms medicine . Not the first time getting service like this !

Pretty clean and plenty of fresh produce this time. Service was better than expected. There were limited options on bar soap but I still managed to find a brand I like. The self checkout performed better than usual and I was happy to get my bottled water on discount this time. I was glad they had my beyond meat burgers because whole foods doesn't carry them anymore. Not bad for a quick stop or to check off the entire grocery list.

I have become familiar with many of the employees that work at this location. They are always pleasant and helpful, serving Kroger customers without the nasty attitudes that you are subjected to at some establishments. I go the extra distance to shop this Kroger because I feel welcomed when I shop at this location. Portland Kroger 35th Street, You Are The Best In The West! 😊

I shop at Kroger on almost a daily basis in Westport plaza and I have been very satisfied with the customer service and I pretty much only buy sushi, and there's always good looking women walking in and out of the place. They keep it clean, what more could you ask for?

Staff and management is rude, can't get a money order 90%of the time, shelves are not stocked properly, Most of the time I have to go to Broadway or Goss Ave. Krogers to find what I'm looking for. Management keeps blaming short staff but since Kroger has such a strict hiring process it hard for anyone to be hired, plus their location on the west end of Louisville most people have some type of criminal history and they don't want you working in their store.

Always having problems when getting TARC bus cards from Kroger . They never correct their mistakes or apologize. Then they shouldn't be selling TARC cards if they do not know what they are doing . On 10-20-22 at 7:28 in the morning before work ,I purchased a TARC bus card . I ask for the 50 dollar unlimited monthly bus rides . After work when I got on the bus and scanned my card it deducted $1.50 off my card . That means she didn't give me the unlimited bus rides she just gave me a card with 50 dollars on it . I called TARC and they said I had to call Kroger . I called Koger and they said call TARC no refund. I said I didn't want a refund I want my unlimited bus pass . This is going to put me out of money . She kept saying no refunds . Then said bla bla bla even if you have unlimited it still takes off $1.50 . I said "what " . Obviously she has no clue what's she's doing and shouldn't be selling TARC cards period . The cashier's name is Cindi M . 520 N. 35th St. Louisville KY 40212 . I really would think Kroger would do something to her for this and treat their customers better .UPDATE . THEY GAVE ME MY 50 DOLLAR 30 DAY LOCAL BUS PASS . Had to call corporate. They still treat people bad though at that Kroger.

As I entered the store with my granddaughter there were no available carts. The security guard noticed and went outside to get me one. He went beyond his duties to assist me. I was able to find everything that I was looking for although it appeared that the store is being remodeled. Someone was there to help in case the customers needed assistance. The sales associate was friendly and accommodating because I had three separate orders. Good shooping experience with great bargains!

Prepare to be followed by not so subtle Security guard couldn't turn around without running into him, didn't have a purse, had money in a credit card sized pouch, didn't have pockets on my shirt or my pants, had flip flops on Where he thought I was going to stash the goods remains to be seen. I understand the need for lost control but he should have picked a more likely suspect.

I've been shopping at the State St. Kroger for as long as it's been there and worked there as a night shift stocker back in 95.In the last decade,the majority of the employees are respectful, courteous and helpful, though I've had to interact with some who weren't. Certain employees don't like to cash payroll checks and quickly become annoyed and huffy if they have to input all the check numbers manually. I even had one deny me service and loudly argue with me that my payroll check was either fake or at least not legitimate,claiming it wasn't watermarked. I've had them overcharge me and short me change and then argue with me until I dug the receipts out of the trash and showed the manager. These are rare things but they happen. The store closes at 1am, but they start shutting off the main lighting in any area that's not close to the front around 10, even though they see people shopping in those area. Still, I feel like it's a great place to grocery shop,though I'd not buy clothing there: extremely over priced.

Friendly staff but always out of certain things and we must have the worst produce section. Update 9/11/2020.the pharmacy is worthless .Lindsey the pharmacist is not fit to run the pharmacy and sheryll the pharmacy tech is just as bad both very rude and dont seem to know much about the meds they are handling.someone in upper management needs to check their credentials and have them go thru customer service protocols again.therefore i will be using CVS from here on out!
