Our cat needed a complicated surgery to save his life from repeated urinary obstructions. We originally saw another vet in Overland Park who quoted us 10k for this surgery and that just wasn’t an option, especially after we just had emergency services somewhere else. We found Dr. Kamer and he was able to do this surgery for a fraction of that price and also had experience with this particular surgery. His whole staff is very nice and helpful and gave us a price quote before the surgery so there were no surprises. They explained the whole procedure and after-care and the nurses gave us updates while he was hospitalized. Our boy got his surgery quickly and is back to normal like nothing ever happened. We are so thankful he’s alive and I would definitely recommend Veterinary Medical & Surgical Hospital of Topeka.

The entire staff are great! The Doctor's willfully answer any questions you have and will show you diagrams so you can get a deeper understanding of what's going on with your fur baby. And everyone has excellent bedside manner to help you and comfort your fur baby. I highly recommend VMSH for any pet parent out there.

I’ve found my new vet & love the way everybody from the reception to the doctor shows compassion for animals and their family. I was stressed when I got home from work and noticed my dog appeared to have an eye infection. I was new to Topeka and didn’t have a local vet so I asked a friend who they use and they recommended this office. I called at 3:40 and they got me in at 4 that day! They were thorough and kind and made me feel very comfortable with this being my first visit to them. We will definitely be using this vet regularly as we love that they honor our dog as an important member of our family.

This places is great!They where very welcoming and showed compassion towards my pet. She has such high anxiety and was so scared but they handle it like a pro and she ended up warming up. I am glad I chose this place to take care of my pet!

They are the best! So helpful, and kind! They communicated with us in way were able to understand, and make educated decisions. The exam room has an extra large touch screen monitor!! The vet used it to brings real-time information about our questions and concerns. It was extremely helpful to see what the Dr. Was trying to explain to us. They gave us free samples to help keep our expenses down. They were also very upfront and honest about the different options that we had to fit our budget. I recommend them to everyone I know with a pet!!!

I first learned about this veterinary practice when I was looking desperately to find a practice to extract a tooth my Jack was having problems with. His regular veterinary had scheduled him for an extraction, but the day of the extraction it was found out the their equipment wasn’t operational. Desperate I started calling other practitioners. I read the good reviews for this vet hospital and of Dr Hahn. When others turned me down, this veterinarian agreed to see and treat Jack. Since then, over a year now, we continue to drive the 30 minutes it takes to see Dr Hahn. Jack likes him, I like him and we like the wonderful staff that work there. I feel they really treat the underlying issue not just the symptoms. They are professional, reasonable, and caring! I highly recommend this veterinarian practice.

So happy to have found Dr Hahn & his staff! We have a diabetic cat that we just couldn’t find answers from previous vets. We love that he took the time to listen to our concerns without jumping in and wanting expensive tests. Our cat is back to feeling better and enjoying life again! The entire staff is amazing!

I have been going to them for almost 4 years, when I moved to Topeka. Dr. Hahn has been great with my fur babies, especially when I decided I had to let my senior dog cross rainbow bridge. Everyone has always been very sweet, understanding and professional.

I would give 0 stars if possible. Absolute piss poor care in the treatment of my mothers dog, who was INTUBATED DURING GROOMING WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION. He also has a heart condition where sedation isn't appropriate, he is given gas typically. He was taken in at 730 in the morning, and wasn't even SEEN UNTIL 130 IN THE AFTERNOON. Not to mention how awful he looks, considering he only needed to be touched up. We got the run around from every single person in the office. Nicole, the groomer, has lost all credibility in our eyes. HE NOW CANT STOP COUGHING, AND WERE THEN CHARGED AN EXTRA $150 DOLLARS, bringing the total for a GROOMING appointment to an astonishing $350. How infuriating, and disappointing. He was wet and unbrushed. Pathetic service. Disgusting behavior by the front office women. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.

We, me and my pup Jake, just moved here from Colorado. The staff and Docs at this practice welcomed us and made us feel cared for!!! Jake is an older rescue dog with a lot of PTSD and the guys here were just amazing with him. We've found our new Veterinary home!

Tried taking my dog in for what is a emergency and they told me it'd be $250 just to start and would go up from there. I get your running a business but isn't saving animals more important in your line of work. Most people don't have 250 out of the gate just to be seen

Haven't owned a dog in many years and the staff was very helpful with ideas on potty training and keeping my little gall from being bored. They anticipated my concerns for her health and the cost of maintaining a healthy, happy and well adjusted fur baby. They were knowledgeable of the breed and told me what I might expect in the future. I would wholeheartedly recommend this clinic in the future.

Had just gotten a new puppy had him 7 days and he got sick. Rushed him to the after hours emergency vet who kept him for 2 days. And cost me $2,000.00 up front and was not prepared for it. He had Parvo. Had to find him a regular doc when they released him from the emergency department so i took him to see Dr. Smith and they really wanted to keep him in the hospital and I explained I couldn't afford another $2,000.00 for him to stay the night, thankfully she had faith in me and gave me all the meds we needed and allowed me to bring him home and take care of him. There was alot of long nights with him but I am proud to say that "Diesel" my 8 week old pup that weighed 3 pounds pulled thru and is now 12 weeks old and over 5 pounds. I would recommend this vet all day long!! Thank you so much for saving his life!!

Fighting back tears as I type! Dr. Smith and her staff are amazing. They saved my fur babies life. I'm a first time fur baby Mama. Our fur baby was having complications from a previous surgery provided by another Dr. I was seeking a Dr. who would help Leo, a Dr. I could trust!Leo needed to be seen ASAP, Alexis was whom answered my call that day. I was in distress, she listened to every detail, calmed me down and assured me I would be in good hands.Dr. Smith and her staff are excellent, they are professional, the communication is amazing. From the moment I stepped into their office, I knew we were going to be taken care of the right way.Dr. Smith & staff Leo and I are forever grateful for you all!I've provided customer service for AT&T for over twenty years, it means EVERYTHING to me. Even though my 1.5yr old Cane Corso is known to be more a lover than a fighter, very friendly and loves meeting new people he was still got judged by the staffs, including the doctor himself(who was in a rush to clock out for the day, since i was the last appointment of the day to.) Keep in mind I had to schedule an oppointment to have my dog check after a accident dog fight at the park. So i get it, my dog looks similar to a pitbull I also got that vibe in the building and he was treated as one!?! Those who knows about Italian mastiff they are smart and very family friendly dogs. Rare breed. I give them a one star for taking my dog in. The front desk put down the wrong breed for my dog's information in their computer and with the papers i walked out with after spending $80+. They also didn't get his name down correctly. And lastly but not least and most importantly I made an appointment to have my dog check if he needed stetches after another dog at the park had attacked him when i was playing fetch with him. Once the doctor came out they didnt even bother to check his cheeks where he got bit and if it needed stetches!?! Before i realized the doctor had already left the building I asked the two assistants at the front desk when will they check on my boy's bite wounds on on his face. They told me the doctor had already left and i could schedule another appointment. I was mind blown and sadly upset. So i spent nearly $100 for a check up and a rabbie shot.Luckily my boy taugh it out and i ended up putting Neosporin on his open scab and it healed. Just a tiny scare on his face that u can barely see now.

I was in town for a dog show, and they worked me in same day, when my pet was having an issue. The staff was all kind and courteous. The doctor was thorough and listened to all my concerns. I really appreciated everything they did for us.

Took my 6 week old puppy there the other day to be seen cause his eye went bluish color over night and swelled up so big... The Dr did a check up on it. Took maybe 10 mins and said he had a scratch and that's all... I knew there was definitely something else wrong like a ulcer. They gave me drops to put in his eye. Over 3 days his eye got huge and popped and I had to rush him to a emergency vet and they took his eye out and said he had a big ulcer in his eye... How does a vet miss that... I'm no Dr and I knew it .. I'm so angry. My baby is suffering cause a wrong diagnosis. I wouldn't even give them one star... Do better for these babies!!!

Our puppy was sick and so far they’ve done a really good job of keeping us up-to-date while she is being hospitalized for a week. I really appreciate the care that they are giving Bella our Boston terrier. That’s only about nine weeks old so thank you to the staff.

Very kind staff. Dr Smith was excellent with Gracie. She spent time with us, explained our options and was respectful even though we arrived minutes before closing. We’ve come home with medication and Gracie is resting and on the road to recovery.
