Pretty large store. The store is so clean and tidy up most of shelves. The majority are mainly sports equipment and sportswear. There were not many camping-related products, bicycles, and sportswear with Kansas State's Wildcat. Some of the famous sportswear are clearances, and some new ones are also available. The shelves in the store are all organized and it is very easy to find products. Emplees were very friendly and helpful. Very nice store.

Store was well stocked with merchandise. My grandson and I browsed through the store and were asked by several friendly associates if we needed help. There was no hard pressure, and we ended up purchasing balls, barbecue supplies, and fishing equipment. We also picked up a pair of size 13 Crocs for my brother.

I went in to look for my first handgun. The gentleman who helped me was helping another customer, but he did his best to let me know he would be with me soon. When he finally was able to help me, I informed him that I was looking to purchase in February. He gave me the same level of service he would give to buying customers and that is rare to find! Will be purchasing here for sure!

All good except when I went to buy my gun, the person behind the counter just kept ignoring me. He waited on the man who came up after me. I left. Went back a few days later. No trouble getting waited on by a different clerk.

I would give this store 0 stars if I could. Walking in, I immediately heard a loud voice being extremely disrespectful to other employees. And no, it was not a customer. I can only assume it was a manager yelling at her employees for whatever reason. It was horrible to experience that first walking in and it assured me that this is not a place where I would like to purchase products from. Especially if this is how they are treating their employees around the busy holidays. Borderline hostile work environment case. I can understand when someone is having a bad day. But when I heard this same voice twice in the span of me being in the store, I suspected that this is how that higher up is all the time. I do not recommend spending your time or money in this Academy store if you ever care about how the employees are being treated. Coming from a manager themselves, I found this to be unethical and completely unacceptable. I hope this will change in the future but from what I heard from this higher up, I don't think it will, what a shame.

At the gun dept. I asked for a scope that was listed on their website and had several other people that said they sold them there, when I asked the worker himself, the other worker and the customers around laughed in my face. Completely turned me away from Academy for good. The scope was a gift and the person that was to receive it, when he found out that they were so crass decided he will also never be returning. Do not go there, they have no customers for a reason- the workers are entitled and they are overpriced.

We found a great deal on a crossbow for my husband to hunt. Staff in the back weren't as attentive as the staff in the front of the store. You must push to get them to come help.

Michelle from footwear went above and beyond today! I'm very pregnant and needed some supportive shoes. She went down aisles with me, recommended shoes, she'd grab the shoes on the bottom shelf for me, and even carried my 2 pairs of shoes for me to the registers since I didn't grab a cart. She was so kind and helpful, would definitely shop again if she was there!

Got a stiff neck on a road trip and needed a chair with good neck support. Which most of the Hotels do not seem to have. The Magellan lounge chair at Academy fit my needs at a good price. I could relax with my feet up and neck supported perfectly ( with the adjustable pillow) after traveling all day.

I had 3 or so folks that helped me at the gun counter-Max, Hunter, Mitchell, Jesus, & a couple others that I am forgetting. It was a great experience. Max was extremely knowledgeable on the rifle I was interested in and helped me find a scope that was a great fit. I was able to get the scope mounted in store & bore sighted with no issues & quickly. The guys came out from behind the counter & helped me fit dust covers & didn't stop until there was a perfect fit. This was an awesome experience & went far above my expectations. There are some good old boys in MHK & thats exactly who you want at the gun counter. For the record - If you have not seen Mitchell's cursive hand writing when filling out paper work, it is a work of art. No one has handwriting like that these days. It's the little things that make Academy in Manhattan, Kansas one of my favorite store. We used the restroom while there & it was clean, had plenty of soap, hot water, & paper towels. I was headed home & forgot some ear protection, I ran back into the store & was greeted quickly again & was pointed in the right direction & even found the type I was looking for on sale! This was the way every Saturday should be! :)

Love this place, great atmosphere, great associates who are willing to always help. The amount of care they put into customer satisfaction and selection of great products is second to none. There pick up at the store for orders is so smooth and they get you what you need. Plus Mitchell from the gun section was very helpful in getting me my rifle and the academy credit card in a pain free amount of time and effort.

Great customer service! Ordered a very large and heavy smoker and had it delivered to Academy for pick up. I was greeted at the door and they employees brought my new 600 lb. Smoker to the front and helped me load it. Very friendly. No hassle. Great experience.

Found a reel that had the original pull string missing from it, and it was reduced to a certain price. They not only honored that but also re-spooled the reel for me. Great experience!

I like shopping the clearance areas.Prices are high. They never have the ammo I need. Mostly waterfowl shells are what I look for.Also they have next to nothing for Walleye fishing.

Pretty good selection of outdoor and sporting gear, best price for mountain bikes compared to other stores in the area. More fishing tackle than you can lose in a lifetime. Some items were either out of stock or just removed from the merchandise.

It's well organized with lots of options from Nike, Under armour, Freely, Columbia, Northface, and more. They do have a good deal right now on Nike and Adidas sweatshirts 60% off. They are there soft cozy kind. Great camping gear.

Last 3 times I've gone in discounts haven't rung up correctly, last time I specifically asked the kid who was the cashier and he assured me it was right. I got home and it was wrong I doubt he bothered to check.Their softball selection is so limited yet every other sport has tons devoted to it.
