I have been bringing my pup here for 2 years and everyone is amazing! They answer all my questions, even the neurotic ones, and genuinely listen to all my concerns. My dog genuinely loves going to the vet and seeing Dr. Gleeson! They are also very affordable and will make sure you understand any expenses that could be incurred during treatments. They also understand that all dogs are different. For example, my pup does MUCH better if I am there and the one holding my her if she is hurt. They take that into consideration and let me hold her if that is needed. She is a very clingy puppy, but doesn’t even bat an eye if she has to be taken back away from me but the vet techs because they are all just as kind and amazing as the vets. And don’t get me started on the AMAZING front desk staff they have who are also kind and know my pup by name. I love having a vet that I can trust with my pup. They follow up on care just to make sure everything is okay. I am so glad I found this vet!

Dr. Gleason is kind, skilled, and absolutely amazing with our boy! He is 12 and had to have a surgery on his face. We moved from a vet we couldn't get the level of care for our dog that we desired and my husband found Wakarusa Vet. Could not be happier with Dr. Gleason and team's professionalism and expertise. She actually calms down our very anxious, nervous dog. Highly recommend!!

The staff is so kind and friendly and truly cares about the animals. My dogs are usually very anxious each visit and the staff really know how to make it a comfortable experience for everyone. Dr. Amend was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend!!!

I recently took my dog Domino for a dental procedure. They were super fast on scheduling an emergency appointment for me compared to other local vets that had no availability till November!!Dr. Amend was amazing, she was very kind and explained to me what needed to be done for Domino’s procedure. Everything went well and Domino is recovering. They had follow up calls to make sure he is doing well with the medicine they prescribed him. Overall great experience!Thank you so much!! :)

Dr. A, the techs and front staff are all awesome. They are great with our dog Huck and he loves to see them. They take a very responsible approach to caring for animals. They don't start off with the most expensive solution and are very pragmatic in their treatment. 5 stars!!!

Very helpful and comforting. Dr. Rowland is always amazing!All of my animals have gone to Wakarusa Veterinary Hospital as long as I’ve lived in Lawrence. Everyone is amazing, but we primarily see Dr. Rowland. She specializes in senior dog care and was AMAZING through some very tough times.We also see Dr. Gleeson for two of our cats. She specializes in pain management and has been great at educating us on their special needs!They care so much for their clients, animals and people. From the sweetest front desk, to the amazing techs to the ultra caring veterinarians, they truly are the best!

Compassion. That is all we have ever needed for our fur family and that is exactly what we received. We put our buddy boy(Sherman) down today and it hurt. But Dr. Amend was there for us and Sherman. She also brought him pizza, one of his favorite good boy treats, as a last meal. My wife and I have nothing but great things to say about the staff and their care.

This office is amazing. I should have left this review over a year ago! My cat was having a medical emergency over the weekend back in December 2021 and I had to take him to the emergency vet. I tried switching care to his then primary care office, but due to short staffing they were not able to take over his care. I called everywhere trying to find an office that would with out having seen him before. Finally I called Wakarusa Veterinary and they were able to take over his care. The whole staff was extremely nice and took excellent care of Espen. Dr. Amend went above and beyond in the care she provided. I really can’t put into word how amazing the staff was towards not only me, but Espen. I have made them his primary care and I recommend them to any one looking for a new vet office!

Wonderful, efficient and knowledgeable staff! It was our initial visit since moving and we couldn't have been recommended to a better facility. Everyone handled our cats 🐈 with tender loving care and made us humans feel welcome as well. Highly recommend this veterinarian facility!UPDATE: took our one cat to get her ear checked. Our regular vet was in surgery so we saw the other. Everyone at this place is super knowledgeable, professional and helpful. It's no wonder they won best of Lawrence for veterinarian services. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Top notch in every category.

With a very shy kitty, I am concerned with a needed vet visit. The front desk person was very pleasant. The tech was delightful (looking at my kitty and talking sweetly to HER), and the vet was gentle, thorough and obviously caring. My sweet girl was not upset, and simply settled into her carrier for the ride home. And the helpful front desk staff lady even carried her to my car for me.

I wanted to find a different vet closer to home, and one where my cats would receive better time and care. The vets and the staff have been absolutely wonderful to me and my boys! I never feel rushed out if I have questions. When one of my cats needed a tooth pulled, I was impressed by the level of care both before and after his appt. This is a team that's truly dedicated. Highly recommend!

Excellent clinic. Everyone is friendly and professional and will respond to emails, messages through the app and of course, phone calls. They will do all they can to get you an appointment when you need it. It was a big decision, but I switched clinics this year for my senior dogs and I am so glad I did. Dr. Amend and her staff are wonderful to work with and it is apparent that they really love animals and have their best interest at heart. Dr. A will suggest tests if she really thinks they are necessary and helpful, but won't bog you down with tests just to do them. They are thorough and give you all the time you need to talk about their condition, etc. My dog is now on a medication regimen for her Cushings, heart and pain issues which has helped her so much. Additionally, she and her staff have been wonderful about discussing end of life issues with me, which has been incredibly helpful. They always get back to me about any question I might have (and I have bothered them a lot!) My pets mean so much to me, and I am so glad I was referred to this clinic. Can't say enough good things about them!

I hopped around 3 vet places in Lawrence before finding the perfect spot for my Bub. Unfortunately, I just had to move and will be on a new search but this place is great. Friendly staff, good services, and fair pricing. There was a major dental surgery for my dog and Wakarusa provided me the best price in town as well as a thorough explanation about the procedure. I kept bringing Buddy back for later appointments. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a local vet for their pup.

We switched to Wakarusa Veterinary Hospital after my cat's previous vet hardly ever had appointment times and reception wasn't friendly. Switching to Wakarusa Vet was the best decision ever! Reception here is always friendly and they truly care about my fur baby. Dr. Amend is amazing and has been a hero when it comes to my cat's ever-growing list of special needs. As a first time pet owner, I could not recommend this place enough! Patience, availability, true care and compassion, great quality, quick response, and friendly staff and vets. 5/5 stars and the best animal hospital/clinic in town!

This is an amazing group of people who genuinely love and care about you and your pets! My family has had them care for several of our pets through the years and the care they give through their entire life span is honestly beautiful. I am so excited to be bring them the next generation of pets as I start my own family and cannot thank them enough for having been there for my family through all the highs and lows of owning a pet. Dr. Gleeson (and Wakarusa Vet in general) is SO wonderful. I call several times a month at this point about my pet who is struggling with health issues, and Dr. Gleeson is always extremely patient and takes the time to answer every last one of my questions. She is always eager to work with me to figure out the best path forward and offers a variety of options for different budgets. And, she knows her stuff! When chatting with friends and family, I refer to her as "my wonderful angel of a vet." We are so lucky to be working with her as we navigate a very troublesome kitty cat!

I am so glad I brought my dog to this clinic! They were so kind and welcoming to her even from our cars. The doctor even called me on the phone and had a 10+ minute conversation with me about my dog and her health, I don’t think I’ve ever had someone care for my pup like that.
