We have an older fur baby that has lost most of her sight and hearing. It’s hard to hand her off to get groomed, because she has separation anxiety. Bark Shop’s groomers show understanding and compassion when we leave her. I feel much less stressed dropping her off here. I feel like a great parent when I pick her up. She looks and smells so good and they give me a report on how she did. Definitely recommend!

We had our poodle in for grooming,on a Saturday,when he came home his ears were irritated and would not leave them alone. Monday morning straight to the vet. Long story short his ears had bacteria in them. About 500 dollars and 4 weeks later better. We never went back. But somehow the city of Urbandale learned he wasn't licensed. Coincidence I don't think. If you don't want your dog to get bacteria in their ears,or them sharing your records,go somewhere else.

Unfortunately, we had several poor experiences with fur getting burned by a hot razor twice, ear infections because of the solution or technique and a UTI because of not clipping around ureter properly. We are hoping that increased education presented to staff by the owners will help others have positive experiences in the future.

Buddy not a fan of getting a bath but they are very understanding at Bark Shop! His cut is even, not choppy face is very well trimmed. He looks so good! Dory (she’s great) got him groomed and out in under 2 hours which is HUGE! When a pup doesn’t enjoy the process/stressed - getting them done promptly and back home means everything. Fur parents you know what I’m talking about ❤️

We have a high energy Bernedoodle puppy and were nervous about having her groomed. We stopped into the Bark Shop and told them Izzy gets nervous around strangers and they matched us with a groomer that took her time to get to know Izzy and made her feel comfortable. The staff is so professional and friendly. The owner Lauren is awesome! I would highly recommend!! We drive from West Des Moines out to Urbandale to have Izzy groomed there. They do a great job and they truely care about your pets!

I paid 58 plus a 18% tip for a full groom only for them to only bathe and shave the paw pads of my dog. Not only did they not do a proper haircut, they cut his paw pad when shaving it out, they never even mentioned the cut, I noticed when I got home. MaryAnn was the groomer. Do better

My pup had his first grooming here a few weeks back! The groomer came up indrocued herself and talked to me asking what I'd like to see on him. At pick up, she brought him to me and made sure I was happy with how he looked. Great experience here! We will definitely be bringing him back!Update: visit number 2. Look at how great they did Visit 3: he got a birthday treat! We are loving his grooming being done here!

Kaylee groomed our little guy perfectly. We’d brought him in with some matting that had happened when we were gone on vacation. Kaylee was careful and tried to leave as much fluff on our pup as possible. She even sent a message that afternoon to be sure I knew what she had done. After my first two appointments I had glowing recommendations, but no more. The rest of my experiences have been less than stellar and this last one was my final appointment. The owner did refund the cost when I complained. She also started the email with apologizing, but wouldn't consent to any wrongdoing. She was just sorry I was unhappy.My largest complaint is that he came home from this grooming frightened. He is my service dog and is well trained. When my dad brought him back uneven, matted, and perfumed, I set him in the couch and tried to take some pics. When I touched his leg, HE BIT ME! This was a bite and not a nip. He is my constant companion. This has never happened. It took almost 2 days to get him to stop hiding under the table. A week later he is still hesitant to mind and one leg is sensitive.I have always stressed no perfume (I am highly allergic). This last time was the third (and final) time he came home perfumed. I notified them but was nice about them not following his file and pics when they shaved his ears all the way down even though he was supposed to have fluffy ears and tail. This last time the grooming/bath were not the same quality of the other times (bald spots, small mats, crusty eyes and dirty mouth.) Across the room he looked fine, but the up close pics I was able to get were not good due to how upset he was and his lack of cooperation.He wasn't burned or cut and I like to think the owner really just believes in her staff to back them up. This was the only time he came home as bad as this time, so I dropped it from 5 to 2 stars instead of 1.

Changing from a 4 to a 5 star review. None of the (very minor) issues I experienced previously have happened again. Dori is great with our sheepadoodle and he always looks great.Even this most recent appointment when we had fallen behind on brushing. She clearly really cares and it shows. I highly reccomend Bark Shop!

Our wire haired Jack Russell Milo can be very difficult to handle at times due to his high anxiety, but these ladies took their time to make him as comfortable as possible and was able to give him a full cut! Thank you so much for all your hard work and patience with our troubled pup!

Wonderful shop with great people! Our Bernese Mountain Dog puppy needed grooming and with being a puppy needed a groomer that would be patient and help her understand to not be afraid of all the common grooming sounds, machines, etc. Bark Shop did exactly this and our pup looks awesome! We will definitely be back.

My Millie is not a fan of strangers or other dogs, but she loves going to the Bark Shop and getting pampered! She isn't even bothered by the other dogs in there with her! I'm so happy I found them, and will continue to take Millie every month for her spa day!

Caroline at Bark Shop 2 was fantastic! She did a great job on a mini groom of my labradoodle. She also took the time to tell me what brush I should be using between grooming sessions and I’m very thankful for that. Caroline also told me how my puppy was nervous of some of the things during her grooming session and gave pointers to work on to help her not be nervous of the sessions! So glad I gave Bark Shop a chance! We will definitely be back!

This will be Captain’s groomer for now on! He is a 14 month old Pomeranian. His last groomer was wonderful, but it was a 45 minute drive! He got a bath (with deep conditioning), blow dry, brush, sanitary trim, nail trim, anal gland expression, ear cleaning, and they even brushed his teeth! His groomer’s name is Sarah (though all the girls there were super sweet). She catered carefully to his needs, and when I got him back he came running up happily, then ran back to her for pets (which means he REALLY likes her). When he wasn’t being groomed, he wasn’t in a kennel (though they do have them, for less friendly pupsbut rather in a play pin with other washed pups I assume) but rather in a play pen with other already groomed dogs, (which they had multiple play areas) with the areas being right next to the grooming station. Having been able to play with the puppies probably helped him to calm down too, so it was a wonderful idea to have that! The place was an open floor plan, so I could see EVERYTHING that was going on. Sarah came over and talked to me before and after the grooming for a few minutes, and went over all that happened, gave me suggestions, and didn’t try to push services on me. Then when I came back in (forgot to reschedule) she came right over to answer any question I might have. When I told her I was rescheduling for two months out, she commented that it was great of me to not do it every month, or too often (especially for double coated pups). She was super knowledgeable about the breed, and other dogs grooming needs as well! She even gave me advice on what products to by to help with coat care, even though they didn’t sell any of that there! My baby was so comfortable and happy to be there too, which gives me ease of mind for future grooming! Also, the price was outstanding! Now my pup is clean, happy, and even tired! This place couldn’t be better!

Sarah is our trusted groomer for Zweena!Big Z doesn’t like grooming but tolerates shorter, more frequent visits with TLC from Sarah. Past experiences with other local shops that required all day grooming appointments were very traumatic for our big girl. Not all groomers can accommodate Z’s size and nobody else was willing to do mini sessions for us. We are so glad we found Sarah at The Bark Shop!! She has been very accommodating, and has a gentle, calming manner that eases Zweena’s anxiety. Thank you so much for being loving and patient with Zweena!!

I go a little out of my way to Bark Shop for my Irish WheatenTerrier, but they have long, shaggy hair and it gets matted easily. But she always looks poppin’ and they treat her well.
