I surprised my husband with a stay in the Crystal Caves suite for his birthday and he was blown away by how amazing the room was. We loved the private jacuzzi and sauna! We had a great experience and highly recommend staying there!Rooms: They have seven themed suites that are extremely luxurious and romantic. Can’t wait to explore the other rooms there!

The smell once you walk in the room is insane, I'm not sure I can even sleep in here. It's horrible .. The staff said I could switch rooms but it seem they all smell bad.Still had stuff on the floor,stains on the sheet/blanket . Headboard hasn't been cleaned in a while has finger prints and ECT. Never again .

I was exited to stay in a themed room and the price was right! As we walked in the room it had a smell to it that I can't describe so I just took my husband's body spray and went to town. It was nice and we tried everything once in the room. My favorite was laying in the bed and looking up at the mirror on the ceiling with little stars in it. It was very cool! The housekeepers do need to step up their game! The front desk guy was polite and answered every question I had!!

My husband & I just stayed this past weekend in the "Roman Retreat" themed Room. After booking the Suite I started to read the Reviews and was so nervous and concerned if I made the correct choice for our Wedding Anniversary get away... The location was perfect for us.. Check-in was seamless. The Front Desk and Front Entrance was clean, carpet outdated but no biggie.. I was directed Outside to the closest Entrance and Stairwell to our Suite. The Parking Lot & Outside area was clean and well Maintained.. Once inside the Entrance (door was propped open-did not use our Suite Key~Card to open Secured Door for Entrance~That was really concerning to my husband & Myself) I did notice the Hallway to the Stairs was dirty with wrappers and papers needing put in the trash & carpet was outdated but it does need cleaned. The Stairway was the same with trash and Carpet needing cleaned. At this point I am so worried about our Suite and the Bad Reviews I had read..Our Suite " Roman Retreat Suite" was absolutely Beautiful!!No issues with cleanliness that I had read in so many reviews..Our Suite was Clean , Spacious and Designed for Couples.. I am so impressed with our Suite.I would like Thank Designer Inn & Suites for the Amazing Suite we Stayed in.. We Checked in way later than we had planned, I feel like we missed almost 8 hours of Relaxation & Romance.. We will definitely be making future plans to book again, I think maybe a monthly plan..💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖.. Amazing 🤩😍.. Only thing I would add is a movie channel to the Cable!!

The Roman retreat room could of been better the carpet really needs to be replaced, the bathroom floor wasn't clean there was hair all in the shower, the hot tub wasn't that clean either hair everywhere, and the cold water faucet was broke. A sloppy job on making the beds, the filters for the air conditioner were filthy. I cleaned them, and there was no love of cleaning. The entranceway was really dirty. The stairs and hallway hadn't been vacuumed. I have my own cleaning business, and I'd be ashamed of my property. Where's the love of keeping you property clean and presentable!!! They should be ashamedRooms: Dirty(not filthy) the housekeepers need to be better trainedNearby activities: Not a lot to doFood & drinks: Went next door to the Mexican restaurant. Our steaks went done she really did not understand english and there for it order wasn't the best. The property itself again needed to be cleaned. So Where's the love for you business

My husband and I stayed in the cave room in May 2021. The room was beautiful, felt like we were really in a cave! Loved the hot tub and the sauna. The shower was amazing with many different showerheads you can use at once, including a waterfall. Loved the starry sky above the round bed and the fireplace. We had a wonderful stay.The room was clean and the staff were very friendly.We've been wanting to go back and stay in a different suite but the price is way more than last year. It went up from $160 to $260!!! That's a little too much, I think.

I will start with the rooms. The designer rooms are very cool. We stayed in the Cave Room 125. The ambience is out of the Flintstones for real. Look at the pictures. The hit tun and sauna in the room AND a double shower is very cool. We could not get the sauna to get up to temp, but it was late and we did not want to go down to ask how to work it faster/better. The hot tub was nice and we simple made due there. The double shower however was awesome. The waterfall feature and back jets...yes please. The downfall is the rock structure is more than likely hard to clean and there are patches of mold and mildew all over it. I have taken shower from a field shower and this was way better. The room is a bit damp and carpets and towels reflect that, but ventilation has to be difficult on thr best of days. It is worth your time, bit want to be open about what is here. Check out the pictures. Toledo, Iowa....who knew?

Horrible. The bathroom floor grout was disgusting and the white towels were stained. The hot tub in our theme room did not work. The lady at the front desk tried everything she could to help us. Even called the owner in front of us. He Degraded, insulted and belittled her in front of us. Stating " Because she was a woman she couldn't figure it out" The owner only offered us $50 off of our $200 stay plusa credit for another stay. We said forget it. Never going back.

Check in is at 3 we got there at 5 and room still wasn't cleaned. Which is fine I get short staff. But we sat there for an hour and still nothing. I asked if they knew when the room would be done the lady looked me in my face and said I have no idea and then went back to her phone. Finally I asked for a refund and went to a different hotel. Which this stinks because my husband and I have stayed in the theme rooms before and loved it but don't know if we will go back after how rude and how long we had to wait for nothing.

Honestly was very very disappointed in my stay. We definitely didn't check in until almost midnight.. asked for a later check out while checking in and was told we could have one.. then are woken up to someone telling us we had 15 mins to get out. The room was not very clean whatsoever. There was part of a fake eye lash in our jacuzzi.. so I had to scrub it clean prior to using.. there was streaks of I don't know what, a sticky almost oily substance, (at first I thought it was just the cleaner they were using) however I tried to scrub it off and it definitely was not the cleaner. The fountain near the jacuzzi didn't work and was grimey looking. Only three of the tiki lights near the bed worked.. When I opened the hotel guide in the room.. right there on the first page was a long piece of dark colored hair.. eww! The room has so much potential to be absolutely beautiful and I definitely love the idea of having the experience to stay in a themed style room. However coming from someone who has worked in hotels all her life.. I would not recommend this hotel. The idea is great but I just paid $291 to sleep in other peoples germs and filth. I had such high expectations and I walked away with a huge disappointment of a memory. Do yourself a favor and keep your $300 and stay home!!!

It has been four years since my wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon. I was just thinking about it today and thought I should leave a review. The rooms were very nice, we stayed in the heart room, Arabian nights and the cave. I remember the hot water not working in the cave room but it didn't really bother us. The staff was very nice and we loved visiting the town. The staff even took the time to let us walk through the rooms we didn't stay in. We hope to come back someday to visit.

Didn't stay in one of the suites as we have dogs and prefer smoking anyway, but the price was right for what we needed and the pet fee was beyond reasonable. We are very satisfied with our stay. Water temp and pressure were better than one would expect and the room was clean, pest-free, and welcoming. They even had breakfast! There's some remodeling going on but we weren't inconvenienced by it at all.

We stayed in the rainforest room this time and although it was enjoyable, for the amount charged the management should give this room some much needed attention. Upkeep on the decor is needed. The fountain by the spa tub was broken and a couple of the mirrors on the ceiling were cracked pretty bad. The fantasy room deserve some attention and upkeep to keep their allure.

Smelled like cigarettes pretty bad in the hall ways. Room had a strange smell. Made me think of a wet animal. Used some room spray which seemed to help. Breakfast ended before scheduled time. Stayed in the Aces Wild Room. Room wasn't the most clean but was decent enough. There were hands prints on the wall in the bathroom above the toilet which was a bit weird. We did really enjoy the jacuzzi in the room and the shower was pretty cool also. We also booked our room online but when we got there they had no record of it. Just glad they still had our room available. Overall decent experience. We will most likely go back some time to experience the other fantasy suites.

The rooms in my opinion incredible and beautiful! Compared to other hotels it seemed they do a very good job at keeping the rooms clean. Got engaged here and plan on returning for our anniversary! Doesn't matter if you want a weekend away or are visiting family members from out of town would recommend just for a change from a normal place. 3 stars because the rec room they have is just not good. Almost like everything they got were from yard sales almost to the point where they shouldn't even have it and just make it into a waiting room or decoration room

Pretty run down. Despite what the sign and website say, there is no working pool and no continental breakfast. It is however one of the few places with themed suites. These are fun though some look like they could use some updating as well. They all feature a hot tub and multi spray walk in shower... the bigger ones even have a sauna. Though low quality, the staff is nice and it’s a fun unique place to stay.

Not a bad place to stay at all. Remodeling is happening currently and basically all the stuff in my room seems new and the paint looks fresh. It's been quite and peaceful. The pool is closed to due to Covid-19 but there is a nice pool with water slide a few minutes away, in town.

The fantasy rooms are fun! The actual hotel isn't anything special but if you & your partner want to try something a little different then you should enjoy the fantasy rooms. The wife & myself have stayed in "The Cave" & "Hearts Delight" rooms. The theme rooms have whirlpool tubs, special beds, & matching decor. You should have fun!

First off we come into the room and it smells really bad. The tub was malfunctioning. The water didnt even fill up half the tub before the water became cold. When we turned the heater on it smelled like something was burning. When we went down to complain about these problems the desk clerk was extremely rude. Rolled her eyes at almost every complaint. We asked for a refund and she said we most likely wont be getting it because our complaints sounded made up.Terrible!! Will not be staying again. If i wanted to ruin my romantic night i wouldn't have lied about the problems with the room!

Do NOT stay here if you want a quiet place to stay. If you want laid.... forget it. Staff is noisy and unfriendly. Pool is advertised on the sign but it is empty with tons of beds in it. The place needs updated but you won't be aware of it till you get to your room since they updated all common areas. Only good thing about this place is the water pressure in the shower and the amazing restaurant next door. Is give it a zero if I could. Would rather have a refund and go to the super 8 a few doors down. Best bring some blackout curtains... You're own big screen TV and don't expect to charge anything unless you bring your adapter and cable cause the only way to charge anything is via the very few free wall plugs.Less than 30 minutes after this review...they called our room and said they'd give us a refund if we were out in 5 mins. We packed our stuff and went to get our refund in which they claimed I yelled at the owner which I did not. Now they are making all kinds of accusations about me that are lies. Needless to say they kept our money since they appear to need it more. Cops were called. We're now banned from the property. Like I'd go back after this ridiculous so called business' unprofessional behavior. RUN THE OTHER WAY PEOPLE!!!!!!!! NIGHTMARE FROM HELL!!! We stayed at the Super 8 2 doors down and it was amazing. It didn't smell of weed and was super quiet and friendly.This was their response to my review after all that went down:Response from the owner 23 hours agoDear ma’am. Our pool is closed. Upon check in you had the right to ask for a cancellation with full refund which would have been granted to you, you did not . You booked through Expedia in which it’s says that our pool is closed under renovations and closures tab. We are currently installing new mattresses and started installing around 11 AM and no earlier as 11 is checkout time and most of our guest are checked out. If we were noisy then please tell us so we can keep it down. Again since you booked 2 nights we would have refunded you for the 1 night upon check out today at 11 Am on 8/28/21 instead of telling us that we are noisy and asking us to keep it down nicely you processed to yell at our housekeepers when they were not even related in any way whatsoever to the noise. As for the outlets, there is one outlet in each side of the bed right behind the furniture. There is also a outlet on the lamps. We do not provide adapters and cables but if you ask for a charger or adapter and cable then we have quite a few of those but you didn’t ask for one.PS: you did not ask for a refund, had you asked us we would have given you the refund for the 1 night out of 2.

This was the first time I have ever given a bad review. The loudest stay. You could practically hear the people next door washing themselves in the shower or tub but whatever it was it ran almost all night and day. If I could attach the video I would . The furniture was torn. The room was definitely not worth $170.00. By fantasy suites they mean some decorations on the wall. The room is smaller than a regular room. Would never stay again. If I could give less than a star I would.

I stayed in room 206. After reading the reviews I’ve seen that this room, the hearts delight clearly has an issue with bed bugs. I stayed one night and woke up covered in bites. I now have over a dozen welts from being bitten by bugs that came from that room. I notified the front desk clerk and the response I got was incredibly unhelpful. She stated “she would let someone know” after I notified her of the bed bugs. No sorry, no offer to partially refund given the fact that the room is clearly infested, etc. I’m incredibly disappointed that I drove 4 hours to stay In this room after a recommendation only to have such a horrible experience and the fear that I may have brought these bugs into my own home. Part of our door also fell off when we were getting to leave, which is quite scary as well. Front desk clerk was also notified of this.

One of my absolute favorite places to stay in Iowa! The night I stayed, the woman working was absolutely fantastic, and service was great. She made every effort she could to make sure I felt at home, going above and beyond what most would. She alone exceeded my expectations. On top of that, the rooms were beautifully clean and comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was outstanding, and breakfast in the morning was just what I needed. Not to mention the fabulous suites that are always the right type of fun. Excellent!
