I needed the yearly wellness check on my cat as well as blood work and shots. They got us in in a reasonable amount of time, were friendly on the phone and in person. They explained what they were going to do before they did it and answered my questions. They were very gentle and loving towards my cat to make her comfortable as they drew blood and urine samples, weighed her, checked her over, and gave her her shots. I had gone there previously with another cat who was very ill and returned as I liked this clinic.

My first time visiting Dickinson County Animal Clinic, and the staff was sooo nice! Starting from the moment I walked in, the front office staff was so helpful with my questions. Meeting vet tech Grace was such a pleasure! She is so sweet! Then meeting Dr. Sjodin was a pleasure too! She answered all my questions about my 3 cats, even though the visit was with just 2 of them. If you ask my orange and white cat Tiger, he hated his first visit here! Haha! But all in all, it was a good visit! Thank you so much for making us feel comfortable! 😊

I had an excellent pet visit with Dr Den Herder. He treated my dog out in the truck as the dog was infected with a highly contagious respiratory infection. He was gentle yet thorough. He jumped into the back of my truck to treat the dog’s ears, listen to his lungs and get a nasal swab for the laboratory. Everyone at the desk is friendly and efficient!

Update: 7/29/22: still my favorite vet clinic, the staff & vets are friendly, caring, answer my questions well, love my pets, and quite knowledgeable. Have boarded my 2 young pups there over weekends or daycare - the pups go right in & are happy when they come out! I highly recommend Dr. Reid and his staff for all your pet needs!2 years ago:Friendly, helpful, cares about my pets, flexible when I was late to pick up my dog from daycare. Very reasonable price for all day daycare M-F.

Every vet and staff member at Dickinson County Animal Clinic has gone above and beyond to care for our pets. Their treatments and recommendations are practical and focused on the well-being of the animal. I have never felt like they were pushing an unnecessary procedure/diet/etc. simply for their own profit. I can't recommend this clinic highly enough!

The vets here are great, and so are the techs. The techs have the misfortune of trimming my dogs nails and they always handle his crazy demeanor so well and do a great job with his nails.

Had an incident between my dog and the neighbor dog, it ended up severally (mortally) wounding my own dog. Police responded to the incident and our normal vet in Spencer hadn’t yet returned the emergency call message we left so they recommended to call Dickinson County Animal Clinic to help provide emergency care. Upon their follow up to our voicemail, if your animal doesn’t regularly clinic with this establishment their best recommendation is to travel to Sioux Falls for emergency care. My poor suffering dog was put out of her misery an hour later once my normal vet was finished with another emergency call and could get to assisting us with our emergency. Dickinson County Animal Clinic has a terrible policy not to help animals in dire need of emergency medical assistance if they aren’t “regulars”! I would never spend my money at this clinic knowing they aren’t in it for the animals, and only for their own greed!

Above and beyond. This is the only place I would take my puppy. Dr. Den Herder completely put my concerns about having a new puppy at ease. My fur baby is getting every possible chance to grow up healthy and happy.

I have been using this clinic for our Vet since 2008. They took care of my dog until it was his time to cross the rainbow bridge, and have taken good care of my current dog since we got him almost 3yrs ago. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else in this area because they have been so good with both our dogs.

Very nice staff, they always see my dogs if they have any issues while on vacation in Spirit Lake. Update: now living in spirit lake The vets here have been great my poor dogs have had multiple issues but the vets have been very clear in explaining each issue and what they wanted to do next. Thankfully we have had a good outcome on all issues. Thank you to all the staff.

While hunting in NW Iowa I had an urgent need to get my dog into a vet. Dickinson Co Animal Clinic was so helpful in working us in that day. Dr. Den Herder was extremely knowledgeable and professional while seeming like an old friend. Very comforting to know your dog is being seen by a professional that cares. Staff was courteous and apologized for delay even though they were doing me a favor. All that and price was below what I would expect for an emergency visit. Wish I could give 6 stars.

They are always so helpful. I have 2 cats and a dog that go here for all their medical and dental needs. I love that they do what's right for the animal. Make suggestions on other additional services one may want for their furry friend but don't push them on you.Love Dr Den Herder. You can see he truly cares about his patients.

I just called for an emergency as one of our cats was injured and could not walk. We think he might have broken a leg. Dickinson County Vet would not see him as he was not currently seen at Homestead Small Animal Clinic and Dickinson County Animal Clinic. I was told that they have a policy to follow (animal must be a current client of either clinic) and would not see him as he didn't meet their "policy". Jesus, he was an injured cat and needed emergency treatment and they refused to see him. I question their commitment to care for injured animals.

My animals absolutely adore Dr. Dirks and Dr. Denherder. They are incredibly thorough and very kind and gentle with my dog and my exotics. Both Dr.s are very knowledgeable and are very eager to answer any and all questions about our animals' health. We are very happy with our decision to go with their office for the care of our fluffy children.
